MO Fans, here is a question....

As someone asked the same question just the other side armound on Xsylon forums, i would like to know it here aswell.

What are your opinions, thoughs of  Xsyon Earth?

Do any of you like that game?

Are you maybe planning to give it a try?

What are your opinions, thoughs of  Xsyon Earth? I appreciate what they are trying to make, but skeptical. The crafting sounds like it has the same kind of depth as MO, although some of the results end up looking kind of questionable (i.e. a pruning blade would not make a durable weapon and circular saws are only good at cutting when they are rotating)

Terraforming is an interesting addition, but seems like it might be a pain to make it a balanced skill.

The alignment system seems like it would be impossible to balance. Only evil tribes can be aggressors if I understand correctly, Somehow that gets balanced by them not knowing how to fortify a settlement?

Is it true that there are still only 4 MOBs?  http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/307188/Xsyon-player-since-april-2010-a-friendly-warning.html Is it true that you can not attack someone else on their tribal land? http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/306851/This-game-will-now-be-refered-to-as-Xsyawnlol.html I understand the criticism of MO as too PVP/combat centric, but if both of those things are true, it seems Xsyon has gone too far the other direction, in which case it seems you are better off with Wurm, Minecraft or ATiTD,

Do any of you like that game? Post apocalyptic isn't my thing and I don't particularly like the graphic style

Are you maybe planning to give it a try?  I doubt it, but if the forums maintain the current level of positivity, I might take a look.

P.S. Could someone enlighten me on the recent explosion of the Xsyon MMORPG forum? There was one new thread in all of December, 5 threads in January and now 105 in the last 18 days. I would understand if it correlated with something but... the NDA got lifted months ago. The current release date was announced on January 3rd. They aren't giving away beta keys.

Well, I just discovered this game a week or two ago on these forums.  So did a lot of other people.  I have 9 other guild members who also joined and we came from Darkfall.  We are all loving this game thus far and are all excited for the last wipe happening today, 3:00 PM PST and our two week head start.

It's not perfect, but it does so many things right and with a community tired of all pvp sandbox play building a new type of enviroment we should see some new types of gameplay here. I've seen it change quite a bit over the last 6 months and like how it is ever changing.

Well, that explains you and a few guild members. I presume that one of your other guild members was already in Xsyon and was talking about it and the upcoming launch.  Does the explosion of the forum indicate this same thing happening with numerous guilds (i.e. overwhelmingly positive word of mouth) or  some advertising push ?  If word of mouth, was there something that triggered it happening when it did (i.e. announcement of the final wipe before launch)?

i'v also just discovered this game like 2 weeks ago but i'm still very skeptical. i have a feeling that for me it will be too slow paced and boring. i'm not a crafter and i dont like Sims. i'v also heard that you cant destroy or attack anything/anyone arround tribe totems so this is a huge turn off for me. basicly there will be a race to place totems and then it will be a huge crafting/pve game with some small pvp zones in between that no one will care about. people that start the game in 6 months or 1 year will basicly be left with no chance to get the good spots.  in MO anything that is player built can be destroyed and rebuilt.

i still think MO has way more potential, maybe not as the best care bear sandbox but definately as the best pvp mmo, IF they manage to fix the combat once and for all.  i have no intention of trying it at the moment, but who knows....if SV continues to screw up MO and the combat remains what it is for much longer i might change my mind.

    Looking for some tips? ;)

No, just noting that there was a dramatic increase in forum activity (here and official forums) without any corresponding event. Typically if there is such an increase, iit's in response to something . (i.e. Perpetuum forum started to pick up 11/15 and really picked up 11/25-- launch was 11/25, Earthrise forums heated up 1/24 --NDA lifted 1/24, launch 2/4)

Is this game trully good or is this agressive viral marketing ?    Where did this game come from...     As you can see, I'm not the only one finding the dramatic increase unusual. The forum went from fairly quiet to very active and the overall  tone went from neutral/slightly negative to gushing praise with no one noting any change in the game.

http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/4092746#4092746 "I first heard about Xsyon on the official Earthrise boards from some disgruntled beta testers. ER's many problems have helped pump Xsyon's hype quite a bit.

To me this feels more grass roots-ish than viral. The head dev is simultaneously brilliant and loony tunes, and quite a few people are willing to buy into his vision of what the game will be down the road, myself included. Honeymoon will be pretty short, however, if they don't get the server issues worked out."

    This is the best explanation that I've seen in the sudden increase in interest in Xsyon.  Earthrise was being pushed pretty actively and did have a significantly larger population (much of which was frustrated by Earthrise)  MO benefited from a similar relationship with DF. (i.e. forum posts really picked up around the time DF launched 2/26/09 Jaded from Darkfall, why I have hope with MO...) Xsyon will benefit greatly it they can capitalize on this windfall. {Mod edit}
