Has the lag been reduced and have the server crashes stopped ? If so i'm eager to jump right into this game as i have been waiting for a game like this for years.

Xyson is still waiting on the new servers.
Currently, Jooky and his team are using the lag as a benefit to fix reported exploits and other issues. It's simply a waiting game.
The lag is on and off. I was on last night and it was practically gone. I was running at 167 ping last night
However, I would use your time in game to practice as of now, because the wipe is coming soon.

pick it up and just play around, you don't lose any time and can learn alot before live, plus, preorder bonus weapon is nice

Yes, XD We hope! I have heard around the forums that the wipe will be tonight, but that was unconfirmed, so dont bet on it.

Was gonna say the same thing, if anything you will have a short while to get used to the game mechanics and just have a little explore around the world before launch.
Supposed to be an Intermediate wipe soon and then some hard crash testing before the final wipe which is unknown at this time

You do get 2 months of play time when preordering. Even though everything is still on hold right now due to the upcoming wipe, I'd say it's worth trying if you have an extra 40 $...

Right now i would say sit back and wait on this game.
First and formost wait untill they get onto new servers and wipe everything. Should happen within a week, but who knows as problems could arise.
Also the direction of this game is currently a whirlwind of "is this a pve safe game" and "is this a full loot pvp sandbox"
We dont know if this game will ever be safe for pve'ers or if it will actually be a real sandbox pvp game, right now its all up in the air.
If your looking for a darkfall type sandbox with more sand...wait to see if they nerf the pvp options...wait to see if they really allow people to opt out of the pvp world.
If your looking for a safe place to PVE, wait it out for hte same reasons.
We just dont know what direction this game is going to take, its still in development.
For the near future, the games just going to be exploring, and crafting for the sake of crafting, as a lot of the features are yet to be implimented.
Its still fun, but theres no direction and little purpose. Hopefully this all changes in a week or two, but its hard to tell with these types of games and developers. Developers have been sraight forward, but a lot of features and rulesets are still in the works, and the community is quite divided between those who want pvp to be sandbox and those who want to opt out of that world.
Hopefully NG gets some guy to copy and paste xyson forums posts from developers here so we can all watch their thought process.
Recently the devs have stated that there will be optional safe zones in tribal areas for PVEers, but the rest of the world will be Open-PVP. Eventually good-aligned tribal lands can optionally become starter villages as well, offering their protection and help to new players.
Despite all the lag and crashes thus far I've still had a ton of fun so far building fighing a little and learning in the last couple days. I say if you're planning on getting this game anyway then I don't see any point in waiting.
Free for all looting is no problem for me, infact its a big reason why i am eager for this game. Open PVP has got to be my favourite part of MMO's and i hope the new Dev can do a better job on the combat.
It's £25 for UK and 29 euros for rest of europe. Only took me a minute to get that info from xe.com/ucc.
Hold off until they do the final wipe and see how the new server handles everything. There will be a lot of posts about the failure or success of that transition so keep your eyes peeled.
Your right I will wait until the final wipe. If i start now i know that i will be reluctant to start over xD
If you think you will really like this game I dont see why not. Buy it now and dl, mess around in the servers while they test and improve the games ability to handle high populations. Maybe meet a tribe and see how you like the people in it.
If you are new to this kind of MMO then I would wait, probably until the actual release when the world has stabilized, people have more time to help you out if you have questions, more features are added.

Just a few more days and the new servers should be ready. I wasn't too sure about this game before buying, but I'm glad I did. Been very enjoyable so far.
I've had fun so far. $40 is pretty cheap for the game and 2 months time.
Just don't expect any NPC's with lightbulbs over their heads
or any NPC's at all. Hope you can make it through those woods where the bandits are.
