Just resubbed last night

WAR was a game I had such high hopes for, was in the beta, the head start, and played for about one billing cycle after launch.  While I REALLY liked the style and grit of the game, the buggy sound, mob pathing, a generally unfinished feel of the mobs themselves left me cold.

When the endless trial came out I created an account, some of the issues had been addressed and I was enjoying myself to the point that I restarted my old account, only to find my CC billed 4x due to a website error.

So here lately I've been taking a little break from EVE, and decided to give it another shot (it's one of those games I just really want to do well), and it seems yet even more of the issues have been addressed since beta (though not as far along as I'd hoped).  And the last week or so has been a ball, mainly doing public quests and T1 Scenarios.

And so the time has come once again for me subscribe, the new server mergers will hopefully pool players together to the point where WAR is again everywhere, and I'm looking forward to come casual RvR.

It is my hope that EA will keep WAR on for some time, it's soooo close to being a great game - so close.

This game is now in maintance mode, or have already been for a while. Playerbase is is not growing or staying same, its more likely going down.

While there are alot of issues that still need to be addressed, Mythic IS working on it.  I would suggest not rushing through the levels though, make alts if you want to play, as they are currently testing changing the renown cap to double your career level to ease the transition from T3 to T4.  Patch notes for 1.4.1 on the test server are on Mythics website.

This game launched 2008, I was hoping it to be a success, but it had overwhelming issues to me like mobs with buggy animations, sometimes just "sliding" towards you. Combat animations and responsiveness was bad too, sometimes you clicked an ability and saw the animation but nothing happened actually, sometimes double animations etc. It just felt unfinished and buggy, not to mention the horrible spell gfx, they were just plain bad, many of them looking almost like sprite effects.

I thought okay, they'll fix things.

2010, last year, I went back to WAR and thought they have fixed everything in two years time, and was shocked when I logged in and noticed THE SAME issues were there. Same buggy mobs, combat and spells.

All I can say is, Mythic with their WAR made a perfect example how to butcher their own game. Insulting customers after two years with same damn flaws and bugs is propably something like a guiness world record. I know it wasnt just me since my friends told me they had the exact same problems, it cant be my PC since I bought a new one shortly after I quit WAR.

Just a very bad experience. Sadly, since the game was good under all this crap, I liked the PvP, the achivement and title system, even the questing and PQ's, just the crap coat was too much, and sadly they never repaired it. They never repaired the thing that gives everyone first impressions of a game. It's unbelievable.

Yes I'm a bit bitter about it, just wanted to enjoy it but Mythic had made the decision to not allow people to enjoy their title. /sigh :)

Makes me a bit worried for TOR since I hear Mythic has something to do with it...

Seeing as I never got past level 14, this shouldn't be an issue.  Another reason for my resub was to merely get a character levelled up and experience the game for what it is.

Exactly.  From what I can tell over the past week or two, sliding mobs/mounts still make an appearance, though not as common as before.  I will say combat is fixed and very responsive.  When I click, it happens.

I sign in everynow and then, its just that I have found its mainly just rvr with nothing else to do. But I have never found anything buggy about it.

I'm clearly missing the boat on RIFT, I tried the beta and couldn't stand it.  Then again, I only played about 15min before I uninstalled it, perhaps I'll give it another look once it's launched.

I would advice you not to read to much WAR forums since they are full of people who are tired of the game. Choose a class that suits your way of playing the game (solo or group), don't play a healer because you are asked to if you don't like it. When reaching t4, expect to be torn to shreds by high rr players now and again. Try finding high rr, skillful players to help you level up. The RvR is quite different depending on the time of day, a few hours after primetime(I think) you will run into bigger groups of nolifers with the best gear, the highest rr, people who does anything to win.

Part of the flaw imo. A) You'll be torn to shreds more then 'now and again', and B) the solution is to be carried by other players rather than anything you can do on your own.

And even that solution will take at least a month or so most likely.

How is that supposed to be fun?

They're trying to fix it now but people aren't quite convinced it will help. It'll probably require more time for there to be a good solution.
