I've played WOW on and off since its launch in November of 2004. Obviously it's evolved a lot since then. It's a lot less grindy to the point that you can get from 1-85 quicker than you used to be able to hit 60 when that was the level cap. I like it better as a 'casual' game BUT the changes pissed a lot of people off who want a capped toon with the best gear to be special.
I just don't have the time (or quite frankly the patience) to throw epic hours at a game to get epic rewards. It still takes some time and effort to get all your purps in WoW but at least I, as a casual gamer, can see that I'll have them before I die of old age. Many will get there before I do but I'm ok with that.
Anyhow, I think I like Rift too. (I didn't play a character past 15 in beta on purpose though.) I'm not going to cancel my WoW account although I'm pretty sure the lion's share of my gaming time will be spent in Rift for quite awhile.
I'm thinking that I'll end up playing some of both. Don't see it as problem. Variety is the spice of life. (I really like hamburgers but if i ate one three meals a day for month I'd be sick of them.)

Dude, you're just a hamburger hayta! You secretly work for the hot dog industry, don't you??? :P
What a strange world, eh? That you can actually like one game without hating another, or thinking players that like the "other game" must certainly be mindless zombies or secret employees?
It is strange. I'm going to love Rift but continue to enjoy WoW. Hell, I occasionally even fire up WAR but all PvP all the time tends to wear me down quicker than if you can also go partake of some less intense activities in game as well.
A strange world indeed.
