Well, I'll give some examples of good PvP experiences, but they differ greatly.

    1. DCUO

My more recent PvP experience was in it's open beta on the PvP server. It really was a blast to just roam around and come up on suckas. Fights are quick, and fairly balanced. If you die it's usually your fault, or because you got jumped by a bigger group. It's cyclical, with no risk, so getting ganked means you got set back maybe a minute. This means you can go all night.

    2. Wurm Online

I did the PvP server for a good while, but then figured that I really play the game for the artistic expression behind crafting/building. The combat is pretty wack in general, but PvP sieges are more intensive than I've seen in other games. You attack player-villages by bashing or catapulting their walls down from outside, and if they are online to combat you, they will repair the walls as you try. Once breached, you try to wipe up any players and NPC guards on the inside as you try to reach the deed token in order to steal the upkeep put in it. The PvP server gets really creative with it's structures in order to make a solid defense too. Like tall dirt mounds you cant climb well enough with stone walls up top, or man-made islands surrounded by walls at the edges, to serious mazes once inside - so that you have to bash doors or pick locks all the way to the token while the NPCs respawn. I just didn't like that fact that things I built for aesthetics alone can be tampered with, so I went to the PvE server eventually.

    3. Face of Mankind

An FFA-MMOFPS that focuses on player politics. It's probably pretty dead right now, but one of the best PvP experiences of my entire gaming career was in this game on New Year's 2010 during it's last open beta, when it relaunched. There was a lot of new players, and because of the holiday season, the cop faction figured it was the best time to try and seize some planets from my faction's allies, since most people were out partying. I fought off the pigs with hundreds of others, across 3-4 planets, for 16 hours straight. Tons of tactics went down, one of my favorite skirmishes was in Necar's Field (really, the only open map in the game) where we posted in a research bunker with a firing squad lined up at the entrance to block out the enemy with their collision and sprayed bullets, while I switched between fire-line and sniping duties on the roof. It was an absolutely amazing day for PvP, but it will most likely never happen again in the state that game is in.

The best one that I know is Aika Global for PvP. It's kinda the only one that's specialized for MASS WARFARE. Hundreds of players can fight at once, and it won't lag. It's worth checking out if you love PvP.

    Just check out the screenies:

The problem with aika is the grind after 50. It wouldn't be a problem if the PvE wasn't so unbelievably boring thought, but it is mindboggingly boring.
