Good Video Card?

I'm thinking of getting this video card ---> http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7047019&type=product&id=1107956855223

What kind of graphics would it produce? For example, would it be able to run Doom 3 flawlessly?

    Yes it should work well with Doom 3 unless you run above 1280x1024 or if you have an old crappy processor.

    Also are you sure you have a PCI-Express slot? Unless your computer is really new (ie. bought in the last couple months) you probably don't have a PCI-Express x16 slot. You'll need to buy the AGP version, which is what most people still have.

    I'm not sure if I have a PCI express slot, I know I have a PCI slot..my computer is a pretty new eMachines T2984. It doesn't have an AGP slot at all. And my processor according to my tower is an Intel Celeron D Processor 340. Also for additional ifo, I have 760 MB of RAM if that helps.

    Horrible gaming rig...

    I doubt that has a PCI Express 16x slot, it probally has a brown AGP 8x slot..

    Video-Cards are on overkill mode right now...Buy a 9800XT 256mb It'll run everything fine.

    My computer doesn't have an AGP slot, I said that in the last post. And is there any way I can find out myself if it has a PCI express slot?

    Do you even have a graphics card right now? None of that integrated crap?

    I have a Radeon 9200 SE Xtasy installed right now, but my computer can still hardly run any games. I can't even begin to play CoH it's so laggy (like 20 sec. waits between every step) and Guild Wars is playable but the graphics just plain suck.

    It would be a great start to find out whether you have AGP or PCI-E, or none. Look into your motherboard, if you don't see slot that looks different than the however many PCI slots, then most likely you have none.

    I have 1 PCI slot, I mentioned that before.

    You cannot possibly have ONE PCI slot, that is impossible unless if you have some super old motherboard from the 80's, or you have EVERYTHING integrated into your motherboard.

    PCI, PCI-E, AGP. Those are the different slots. You need at least a few PCI slots to even have all the things such as sound card, network card etc..

    As far as I know, I have 1 PCI slot. I know I don't have an AGP, I made that mistake before. And in physical appearance, it looks like my tower only has 1 slot for a video card. It has onboard graphics if that has nything to do with it.

    T2984 - "No AGP or PCI-E Expansion Slots."

    Uh didn't you make a post a couple days ago, this seems very familure.

    Since you are stuck with PCI you are pretty much screwed. A GeForce 5700 might be slightly better but it's not worth the upgrade.

    You could change motherboards.

    You can't get a good video card with a PCI slot only.

    Shoot for a 9600 or 9800 card.

    As far as I can tell the Radeon 9250 and GeForce 5700 are the best PCI cards available. Both suck and neither is worth upgrading from a 9200.

    I just googled his eMachines T2984 and it seems he has neather a AGP or PCI-E

    Description

    * Intel Celeron D 340 (2.93GHz) Processor
    * 512MB PC2700 DDR
    * 80GB 7,200rpm Hard Drive
    * 48x CD-RW and 16x DVD-ROM Optical Drives
    * AC'97 Audio and Stereo Speakers
    * Intel Extreme 2 Integrated Graphics with 64MB Shared Memory
    * v.92 56Kbps Modem and 10/100 Ethernet
    * Five USB 2.0 Ports and 8-in-1 Media Card Reader
    * Windows XP Home, MS Works 7, Money 2004, PowerDVD and Norton Anti-Virus

    Sorry to say, but it seems your screwed if you want anything good. try finding a radeon 9x series PCI card. Oh yeah, and make sure when you plug in your monitors cord, you plug it in the new graphics card and not the integrated one. I had to slap my friend 100s of times for making that mistake.
