Norn Week has officially begun! The Guild Wars 2 site has been updated with the first article featuring the Norn race. The first posting gives a bit of information about the Norn including their native habitat and compares the starting experience for Norn players as compared to those choosing humans.
As you’ll see this week when we take a closer look at the Wayfarer Foothills area, a norn player in Guild Wars 2 will have a completely different experience than a human player. “The norn starting experience is tonally very different from the human one,” Bobby Stein says. “The happenings in Wayfarer Foothills, while dangerous, are more about hunting and celebration rather than outright war.”
In addition to a plethora of wild game and powerful creatures, norn characters adventuring in the Shiverpeaks will encounter the jotun, a race of fallen giants; the dredge, former slaves who claim the lost homelands of the dwarves; and the Sons of Svanir, norn who revere the Ice Dragon. There’s no shortage of opportunities for norn to prove themselves.

Cool Can't wait to play GW2.
That lady with a gun is awesome. Can't wait for more screens.
When developers work to flesh out the history and personal story of races and their regions in games it really helps to draw players like myself to them. It just adds another layer to immerse ourselves in. ArenaNet is very good and what they do and Guild Wars 2 only helps to show it! Looking forward to the game and hope everyone else is too!! Keep up the good work folks!
You know that rifle looks like it has a silencer attached to it.
omg yes. norn are so awesome. i shall be a super norn *cough saiyan cough*
I just hope norns will be clearly taller than humans ingame.
For someone who lives in the frigid north, she sure ain't wearing much (which is all the more comical given she's also wearing a skirt made from fur curtains).
You go out dressed like that in Edmonton, you'd have tissue damage in seconds.
While that is true I would assume a shape shifter to not have too much clothing, it would get in the way.
We can of course discuss sensible clothing and fantasy, they don't mix well together.
I just remember when Red Sophia takes of her chanmail biki top in Cerabus and ask Cerebus what he thinks of that and Cerebus cooly answers "If you try wearing cloth instead they would heal".
Sure, it could be interesting with a game that actually buffs or debuffs you depending on your cloths and the temperature but such MMO does not exist. GW s high fantasy and ladies in skimpy clothing and guys in loincloth is part of it.
Wait... Just how much bigger are these Norn? What's with all the tiny people on the floor in the shot?
You should have played Eye of the North in Guild Wars, they wore less than what is shown in that picture. Obviously the Norn doesn't have human physiology.
I'd say she's standing on stairs above those in the background.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's perspective. The camera angle is not the greatest but she is in the foreground and up high while the other norn are in the background. As far as your question, they average around nine feet tall.
If the females wear high heels I'll be disappointed and bummed. So far LOTRO and Rift are the only games I've played where my girls don't try to battle in heels. *sighs*
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I like the idea that the starting areas are not only different in location, but offer a different style of questline as well. I am really looking forward to playing this game.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
Or maybe they are simply afraid the game will suck so they dress female games like sluts or whores, like in many other shitty games where you see that most of female armor is just some kind of armored panties and bra.
The best way to sell a shitty game these days is by putting almost naked females on it, every guy will fall around your game and you will have a rain of money...
And, really. Can anyone truly picture a NORN in heels? O.o
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's possible, but it's hard...
