A game that took nearly 10 years and you think somehow you can gloat because only a few thousand people play your game and no body else ever will, let alone deal with a bad community and game developer?
Yup we all feel real burned right now from this topic. You got us! You showed us all up!
When did you start playing "old school" MMO's. World Of Warcraft?

After i am playing Darkfall for almost 2 years now i am certainly sure you don't know what the term vaporware means. So, I would understand what vaporware is if I had been playing DarkFall for 2 years? That is an interesting thought... For what you imply 'vaporware' means we use other terms. For example something is 'not profitable'. If a business has been also closed down being running prior we also use other term then 'vaporware' to describe it. <-- The term vaporware perfectly covers this description. Check Wikipedia or some other source if you are not sure.
About the website, well they obvioulsy not needed a better one. It didn't hindered them to successfully sell about 100k of copies and be succesfully on thier scale. But it could have gotten them more.
Your entitled to your own opinions and prioritys but i don't share them. I hope you find your MMO who offers you good chat boxes so you can chat your litle heart out all you want. Thank you. I hope you enjoy to continue playing your MMO with the worst UI ever.
Of course i will defend Darkfall if someone continue to stretch meanings of vaporware and try to use not appropiate terms which describe the state of Darkfall wrong. It was wrong to call Darkfall vaporware back prior release and it is ridiculous to call it vaporware now with all proof we have. So far, you have yet to provide any logical argument as to why I am describing its state wrong, other than falsely trying to argue that I said DarkFall is vaporware (which, for the record, I have not said).
ofcourse , 'with a bit of mind flip' ...everyone can call it whatever he wants ..in private not public situations. I definitely can call DarkFall vaporware in a public situation whenever I like. That is not for you to decide.

The game took 5 years buddy. And the game is growing, devs are hiring more people, moved into a bigger building, working on their third free expansion, sure doesn't sound like a game in trouble, yes?
And considering the vast majority of people said the game
a) didn't exist
b) wouldn't launch
c) wouldn't launch being able to do what it advertised (massive scale real time twitch based combat in a zoneless world)
d) wouldn't survive more than a few months.
Well.. they were wrong on absolutely all counts. So yeah, considering the amount of trolling and vaporware screaming that was going on, I'd say there's cause to gloat, a LOT, and the fact that there is little gloating shows that the Darkfall players have a bit more tact than the trolls that followed the game.
As a side note, I've always hated Darkfalls chat box. Its one of my biggest gripes with the game. The rest of the UI is pretty much fine and serves its purpose nicely, the chat box though.. ugh.
And no, at no time in Darkfall's development was it considered vaporware. The only people that claimed it was just didn't even look into the game, or looked at what it was trying to be and said "it's not possible, so clearly this game is a scam/social experiment!" Wrong on every turn...
Pick some five to six different games currently in development.
Wait until people start doubting certain aspects of any of those games (e.g. "Is SW:TOR really a good MMO?" type of threads). Do not worry. This always happens.
Keep track of which game raised which doubts.
Defend the games to the bitter end and against any and all opposition. Do this for every game you picked under 1.
Wait a year or two and check back up on the games you picked to see which ones are still not dead yet.
Make up some outrageous claim that pulls the doubts raised under 2. completely out of proportion. For instance, if somebody used the word "vaporware" at least once, claim the entire world was screaming "VAPORWAREZ!!!1!" at the time.
Proceed to gloat on teh interwebz.
The point being:
The fact that a game you really hoped would succeed when it was in development actually manages to succeed is really no reason to gloat. It is definitely fun and you are lucky that your favourite game made it, but the two-year-old comments you are gloating over were obviously posted by trolls to begin with. If anything, the trolls of the time can gloat over how the anger they instilled in people at the time has managed to last for over two years already! When are you ready to let things be the way they are and just enjoy the games you enjoy? Unless you're like me and simply enjoy arguing, of course...

Were you here in 2007 and 2008? This ENTIRE FORUM, and Funcom's entire forum (where I heard of the game) was in fact screaming vaporware. Every time a constructive thread was posted here it instantly got derailed by a DEDICATED group of vaportrolls that kept coming up with more and more elaborate ways the came was fake, and how all the info was planted and fabricated, or the people who wrote articles were payed off. They even tried to track some of the writers down to their homes. So no, not blowing it out of proportion at all. Darkfall was the punching bag of this entire forum for years. The only time there was a pause was when beta signups were announced, the trolls vanished for about a week before coming back saying "There's no way there are no leaks yet, this beta doesn't exist". So yeah, bugger off, Darkfall deserves to gloat when its one of the only growing MMO companies of the last 5 years.
The rest of your post is the exaggeration I am referring to. I followed as many discussions on DarkFall as I could at the time (which were quite a few) and I have honestly never seen the outrageous claims you're currently making. "DEDICATED group of vaportrolls", tracking writers down to their homes, my buttocks. Sure, there was a fair share of hating and the confidence by some that the game would fail, but those people were always obviously trolls and they weren't bloody well organised. Heck, there's loads of people on these forums that call WoW a failure, but I don't see WoW players gloat all the time about their victory over the nay-sayers.

Difference here is that the dedicated trolling group was the MAJORITY and the threads were rarely moderated. I'm not exagerated, all the things I said were true. Even the part about the folks using google earth to track down the AV offices and writers trying to prove they didn't exist.

The point is that you are still taking troll comments seriously more than two years after they were posted. THAT is not much reason for gloating by you. It is a reason for gloating by the trolls and a reason for shame on you.

The sad bit is I do actually believe most of them WERE serious. Some just joined the vaporzz bandwagon, but the majority seemed to NEED to prove to everyone the game was fake. Most MMO gamers back then agreed with said "trolls" and thought the game would never see the light of day. Plenty of reason to gloat.
The sad bit is I do actually believe most of them WERE serious.
I agree that it is sad that you believe this. Ask yourself: "Have I really been trolled THAT badly?!"
Now, consider my position, which is infinitely better. I currently play DarkFall and I am enjoying the heck out of it. I was also one of the troll supporters at the time. I got what I wanted then, which was a heated debate and an increased interest in the game, and I got what I want now, which is an awesome game to play. You only got what you want now.
Also please note the italic and the emphasis on the word 'still'.
Darkfall had to go through enough crap of that type really throughout all the years.

Congratulations, you were directly responsible for the horrible stigma this game had to overcome during the first year of its launch. The amount of BS people like you were spreading nearly doomed the game, you certainly hurt it.

Darkfall was, at no time, vaporware.
I am not directly responsible for that. I never spread the nonsense you're referring to. I only enjoyed the fact that others did and that that led to discussions of this type.
If "the amount of BS" the trolls were spreading "nearly doomed the game", I am sure you must agree with me that DarkFall was very nearly vaporware (after all, "doomed" in this sense is more or less synonymous with "vaporware", because if it had been doomed, it would not have survived, which means it would have been vaporware). As such, I am also confident you agree that you cannot blame others for losing their faith in a game that is so close to death and for proclaiming that loss of faith, just as you proclaimed your continued faith. If that is really what you are gloating over, I say you need to get off your high horse, because I am fairly confident you would not have appreciated the reverse. If DarkFall had failed at the time and those trolls would be coming on here two years after stating "Hahaha, we told you DarkFall would fail!", would you tout "Ah, yes, touché!"?

I dunno what you're trying to prove here, but that phrase of mine you quoted simply says I am not sure DarkFall is not vaporware. It doesn't say I am sure it is vaporware, for I am not.

If i were you i would ask myself, why is no one else questioning Darkfall being vaporware, at this point.

Cos relatively few people bother? Cos relatively few people actually like to make the cogs in their heads turn? Cos relatively few people like to question the blatantly obvious? Cos relatively few people are interested in anything DarkFall related? I could come up with dozens of reasons! Wow, I'm glad you're not me. I'd be asking myself all sorts of useless questions like that all the time.
If the way the majority thinks and questions is the way any individual should think and question, how come you didn't question DarkFall being vaporware when, as you yourself put it, the "majority" of people thought it would die a lonely death? What's worse, you're even gloating over how you didn't do what you're advising me to do now!
Also, if this is the only response you can really muster up, i.e. "nobody agrees with you, so you're wrong", even when there currently seems to be only one other person who does not agree with me, I think I'll take my winnings and, you know, gloat.
