UPDATE: According to a new post at BigDownloads.com:
As a result of this move, Lego Group is buying both the Lego Universe development team and the NetDevil offices that the team currently works in (Financial terms were not disclosed). The other NetDevil employees will be moving to another office somewhere nearby the original offices. The remaining Netdevil team members will continue to develop the browser-based online action-RPG Fortune Online, which was just announced a few weeks ago and is now in closed beta testing. The Gazillion PR rep would not comment on the status of NetDevil's long-in-development space-based MMO Jumpgate Evolution.
According to numerous trusted sources on Facebook it seems as though, at the very least, a large number of employees have been laid off at NetDevill, the company behind the perpetually in-development Jumpgate Evolution.
While we can not at this time confirm the specifics of the layoffs, nor what this means for the future of NetDevil and the games that it is / was developing, we will continue to follow this story as it progresses and bring you any updates that become available.

Funny, I just interviewed for a position there on the LU team. JGE seems pretty much dead in terms of priorities. This might be the nail in the coffin.
My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who lost their job.
Damned, that the only game I wait. :-(
And I wanted to play this too, shame.
Oh well back on the waiting list for the re-release of APB.
Veritas Vos Liberabit- The truth will set you free.
I have been waiting for this since i hung up my pilot gloves from the first one
nerf scissors! rock is fine...

Ugh, we NEED a good, deep twitch combat space MMORPG badly... or at least I do.

that sucks
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
I guess this means Lego Universe is doing bad.
I still miss Auto Assault.
this is sad.
Jumpgate Evo vaporware jumps the shark...big suprise.
Knew this problem would happen as soon as I heard the game was being made by Netdevil. They have severe leadership issues.
Too bad, I actually liked the first Jumpgate.
I lol'd.
edit: Not really, but I am apathetic towards this.
Yeah no kidding.
I been saying this game is vaporware almost a year ago lol.. They got sued over this game earlier this year too and now this.. EvE really does have a strangle hold on space sci-fi games and i don't think JGE or BP will/would of changed that.
Currently Playing:
Rift + Starcraft II + Gears Of War 3 Beta
I'm really sad to see the entire Jumpgate series go.
It used to be my very first major MMO, and a completely different MMO.
JGE was intended to try to introduce new gamers in to the twitch based area of the MMO but NetDevil keeps making bad desicions.
This is the reason why I don't play MMOs anymore because 98% of them are just point and click 3rd person types.
Now if you are not only a talented game developer but a community organizer, there's an opportunity to get in to this untouched market of first person twitched based space combat game. If it's done right, as in people liking the flight engine, then it may be successful.
It's really up to the indie game developers to come up with something like this.
Something that is being done by a corporation can expect players to be disappointed.

I'm sorry to see people lose their job, especially in the current economic environment. But given JG E's past history, I'm not really surprised. But I quit waiting for it, when they switched focus to PvP. I'm also not surprised that they are moving to browser/social games. They are a lot less time/resource intensive, and have been making a hell of a lot of money recently.
I wish they'd sell Auto assault, and NO! it's not worth 10 million dollars.
Yeah at the site for the game you can no longer sign up for the beta or email newsletter. What a shame as the preview movie looks awesome.

I'm waiting BlackProphecy for a long time, is time to test other games too.
I wrote this what seems like years ago now, and it just seems so appropriate that I had to dig it out.
aw shame =[
Pretty well figured something like this was going on....no telling how long it's been vaporware...
Well, I was more looking forward to Black Prophecy than this game, but its too bad... two space shooters would have been better than one
I know some people might not beleive me, I still hope this game pulls through, but I have to say it simply cannot survive in the state it was before the blackout, with an almost exclusive focus on PvP and hardly anything of a crafting or hauling or open system .
I may have stopped following the official boards, but the game is still in the back of my mind, and a little more so when I se BP news like it entering open beta. sadly I dont think BP is even half the game JGE could be.
I love its GFX but that flying on rails that it does really put me off. which is Ironic as its something I thought I would like, at least until I got into closed beta and tested it, it sucked.
