More "improvements" to the game that should've been there already had they listened.

    Echo.

Point fingers all you want, it isn't going to help the game.  I'm just glad they realized their mistake and fixing it at quite a rapid pace.  I'm having a decent time in the game now after waiting it out this long from beta and it's only going to get better with improvements.  The new team deserves our credit, they are fixing what the old team screwed up.

[[ DEAD ]] - Funny - I deleted my account on the site using the cancel account button.  Forum user is separate and still exists with no way of deleting it. Delete it admins. Do it, this ends now.

Are you being serious? The new team is making a WoW colone!

I loved FFXI, I did not like WoW. This new team is all about kneeling to WoW. I'm sorry, but that's just bad.

    Storylines and world quests

    Quest-related system changes

Addition of icons to make quest NPCs easily recognizable

Addition of quest NPC locations to maps

    - Will need to see how they're implemented. Yet another quest-grinder, do not want.

    Journal improvements

Reexamintion of data transfer mechanics to display all current quests and levequests on one screen

Increased speed for text scrolling in general, and further speed increase for continuous scrolling

Addition of page-scrolling control for gamepads

    - All welcome changes.

    Rank/Level up fanfare

    - Ho hum. Not really important, but minor quality of life details add up.

    Camera improvements

Ability to adjust camera distance when locked onto a target

Ability to freely adjust camera distance when playing with a gamepad

    - I'm happy about this one. The camera distance resetting has been a pain since day one.

    Targeting system improvements

Ability to target by type ("PC only" or "NPC only") when using a gamepad

Ability to target by clicking on character name displays

    Auto-translate dictionary update

    Update of auto-translate dictionary contents

    - All nice improvements.

Adjustments to lower the rate at which item condition deteriorates

Adjustments to the item synthesis process

    Increased pace of gathering actions

Changes to the frame rates of action animations to speed up gathering

    - All nice improvements.

Ability to summon retainers currently operating a bazaar

    - Thank goodness.

Optimization of enemy size for ease of play

    - I'm going to be upset if they're scaling down monster size for this.

Addition of an auto-MP regeneration feature

    - Completely and utterly unnecessary. We have a plethora of mana regen spells, all this is doing is catering to lazy players.

    No new content.  :(

Content and drastic system changes is what this game needs.  They need to introdue Companies and more features.

This game is still a million X worst than ff11.  That is a major fail.

I've never played any of the Final Fantasy games, but SE is supposed to be an experienced developer, and the success of FFXI would lead one to that reasonable conclusion. However, after reading all the news about updates/fixes since the release of the game, I'm a bit shocked that an "experienced developer" would not have known that many of those "additions" most definitely should have been in BEFORE going live.

You have to wonder what went on there, what they were expecting when they released it the way that they did.

If you use that anology PhelimReagh, then Mythic who made DAoC (Must successful RvR/PvP game) but yet Warhammer was a failure.

Its not easy to repeat success in the MMO genre no matter how much you think it may be.

The original development team must have been comprised of several semi-retarded people. Having to go back an add stuff like this is an embarassment. The original team needs to fall on their swords in shame.

I am inclined to agree with this. Problem with FF14 is that it was apparently developed somewhere under a rock sometimes in the '90s so it seems to have completely overlooked all the elements that became standard fare in the MMOs over the last 5, hell, 10 years. It's even a step back compared to FF11 in things. And even if you put aside core and obvious mechanical problem, all this tweaking should've been sorted a LONG time ago in beta.

But yeah, beating the dead horse. Again.

Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.

I'm not defending SE for their many bad decisions on this game, but looking at game features as "elements that have became standard fare in the MMOs over the last 5-10 years" is exactly why we're stuck with a plethora of horrible WoW wannabes. Breaking convention is called innovation when done correctly.

Yeah, but some things, like point and click vendor interaction just make good sense. Their entire UI was of raid level difficulty.

Sig so that badges don't eat my posts.

I applaud for the new team effort. Kinda feel sorry for them. Seriously, they might as well remake the game.

The last guy who headed the project was a fxxk-tard. He critized North American players for not understanding their game, only to be critized by the Japanese players on the same stuff.

ill give this game 3-4 more months till i go back to it...bought it and played for one day...very boring...and slow...will try again in the future after updates till then back to WoW. P.S im a die hard Final Fantasy fan have em all including the japanees FF games 1-11 and also some of the quest games. I stopped buying them when Squaresoft(the better one) became Square Enix(horribe) and butcherd the series. Nothing NOTHING will be the gameplay an dstory of Final Fantasy 7,9 and the old Nes originals. BAD SQUARE ENIX BAD!

Quite honestly, it is too late for this game. I mean, they are probably banking on the PS3 release, but who the hell plays MMOs on a console in North America? Very few (if you are one of them don't consider this a derogatory comment, it is just simply the trend it seems in NA). Maybe the JP playerbase might go up but I distinctly remember speaking with a couple JP in FFXI who said that no matter how they fixed the game or added more content, it wouldn't appeal to Japanese players simply because of the style. They'd have to completely revamp it.

Good luck to the new team, though... they have a lot of work ahead of themselves.

-Computer specs no one cares about: check.

-MMOs played no one cares about: check.

-Xfire stats no one cares about: check.

-Signature no one cares about: check.

    ------------------------------------------------------------
    -Narcissism: check.

No matter how many fixes they cobble together, you never get a second chance at a first impression.

More than you realize and soon more than you would believe.

I feel we're about to see something of a golden age for mmorpgs on consoles.  The agency, FF14, DCU, that zombie w/e game for the 360.......with more to come.

Yeah the 360 only has one coming cuz it sux like that.

Who cares, this game is a lost cause and will never make it now.

  • hainzeyhainzey Member Posts: 23

This game still has alot of chance to make it tbh, plenty of games have had terrible releases and somehow made it back up, square arnt exactly a stupid company, they will know how to fix it, and they have already started doing that by cleaning out their old team and getting in a new one. Who imo are working perfectly and as fast as they can to getting the standard of the game nice and high.
