I am wondering what graphics setting I could play the game (if at all). Any tech savvy people able to tell me? I know nothing about computers hardly.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ 2.80GHz
6GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
I wrote those three things down exactly as I read them from my computer. I have a 250GB hard-drive so I think that should be ample. Also what should I upgrade to help my computer perform better in gaming?
Thanks in advance.

You will be looking at low to mid, more towards mid. I run a rig thast a bit better with a 260 gtx and i run on highest setting with about 30 fps.
I was running it with an AMD Athlon X2 4400+, 3GB of RAM, and the HD 4670. On Ultra with ES on and Shadows turned off I was getting 15-20 FPS. Depending on whether you have a 256MB or 512MB 8800 GT, everything about your system there would be better than what I was running.
With my current system, I am getting 20-24 FPS.
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

i use this all the time before i buy games since my laptop is picky. Just choose rift from the drop down list and it'll tell you if you meet the minimum and recommended requirements. Its usually pretty accurate
Rift does not eat up too much physical memory. It's a very good thing your processor is dual core, since Rift has issues with more than 2 i.e. it doesn't use more than 2 cores in a lot of cases.
Your video card is more than sufficient to run rift, but I suggest you make sure that you don't have any overheating issues, since Rift will likely be using ALL of your card's load.
You will probably be able to run in mid-high detail (shadows off probably) at around 30-40 fps.
Make sure you aren't running too many applications and that your processor is well cooled too, since it is also a CPU intensive game.
The beta was a bit hit and miss on different rigs . My 9500 gt 1gb ,3gb ram pentium dual core 2.8 pc ran it on minimum setting at around 15-30 fps regulary falling as low as 10 fps in warfronts and as low as 6 fps in very busy RIFT events . But I've known people with less powerful pcs run it well and more powerful pcs ran it badly . If you look at a recent mmorpg article they also voiced concern over the performance issues on some machines . I defrag my machine regulary , run msconfig to make sure nothings running in the background , update drivers etc and my machine currently runs lotro at high-ultra and AoC at medium to high (with tweaks) with no problems at all the only game it cant seam to handle well is RIFT . I thought it was a great game it just was'nt acceptable to me at the performance levels I was getting . I guess it depends on whats acceptable to you . I did try it on the low performance setting as well which helped a lot quite frankly it looked pretty awful .
It may run perfectly fine on your pc . Personally I would wait for a free trial if you don't have the money to waste . But on rigs like ours with RIft currently its a matter of you pays your money you takes your chances .The extra 3gb ram might make a difference though .
Thx everyone for your input. I will probably wait until release day to pick up a copy.
In the meantime I shall see what soul combination looks interesting.
You can run it fine. I have a little more than you in specs and could run it on ultra seting just fine. I am not a big fan of the game but it is very forgiving of mid range systems. In my exsperiance anyway.
Now I am starting to get a little nervous as well. I am downloading the game right now and have always plaid MMO's on my lap top. Will I be okay running this game on my laptop?
CPU= Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.27 GHz
Ram= 4 GB
OS = Windows 7 64
Graphics = Nvidea GeForce 9800M GTS 1GB
I'm hoping this should be enough to run this system on medium settings. What do you all think?
Set it on mid and then lower draw distance.. shadow and texture details a bit.
Neither you or the OP should have any problems , both your system are rated past 5.5 on the windows rating .
The real problems comes with computer rated lower then 4 , those from 3.5-5 have to do some minor self adjustment .
Some things recommended are not recommended for those people , cause of different hardware and software settings.
The main issue is more that the update patcher somehow messes up with the internet security settings and permissions.
That might cause in some cases minor headaches >.< like I had the first day .
But the technical forum players help is quite excellent and friendly and patience.
Thank you for the reply. I was uncertain. I am noticing that my DL speeds are very slow right now with the patcher. IT's killing me. I'm not sure why it is so slow...
WTF ?
I have q6600 2gb ram and 8800gt and i run game on high with view distance on medium and i have 60fps most of the time. Fps drops only whne there is major invasion with 100npcs and players on screan and that is mostly because i have only 2 gb of ram.
Computer in first post rig would run this game just fine on high.
Mortal in body
Eternal In Will
The update keep changing the patcher updater , that it has to ask firewall new permissions and sometimes virus prevention or internet security of many known companies rather take safe then sorry , so slowing down the download.
Well if it still runs the update (not the game downloading that should happen quite fast) then let it run , do not disable anything yet . as long it moves its fine .
The problem comes when it doesn´t move or give errors , try a reboot is the best solution .
Before going trough drastical measures , so reboot and see if the new patch has added new permissions .
So as long your download is coming in , its ok , the problem with headstart is infact same as many MMO launches .
First week is tons of headaches with daily patches, hotfixes and other problems .
Atleast they solve these things for the real launch I hope .
Get a new 1GB video card and you're set. It's worth it.
i think every one spc runs different in beta 3 i had a good fps then beta 4-5 it dropped to 20 fps i running on this

I have a similar machine to the OP. I'm getting low FPS at high settings (20-30) or so. The trouble is that while it runs decent at mid settings, the game is only nice to look at with high settings.
