New video card

GameboyMarcGameboyMarc Member UncommonPosts: 395

I am looking for a new video card, I play WoW, Lord of the Rings Online, and  Dragon Age Origins. I am looking at a  XFX HD-577A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770, though not sure if it is a good card or not. If it is overkill or not enough.

I would be most thankful for any help.

A Radeon HD 5770 is usually the thing to get for someone looking to pay a little over $100 for a video card right now.  Note that all 5770s are based on the same bin of the same GPU chip, so all will perform essentially the same.  XFX has a reputation for better warranty service than most other board partners, so some would be willing to pay a bit extra for that as opposed to some other brand of 5770.  The card you list doesn't have a premium cooler on it or a factory overclock (which are the other things that some might reasonably pay extra for), but it should work nicely for you.

I don't have one personally, but I've read good things about them, and it's what I've been recommending for the ~$120 price range lately. Low power use, good performance, good price. It's hard to beat for a low price, solid gaming card right now.

I have an HIS iceQ 5770 and i love the card. My monitors highest resolution is only 1440x900 * its a cheap monitor* but i can run everything on full setting be it wow, far cray 2 or mass effect 2. If you looking to get the most bang for your buck and that price range it's what i would recommend.

Incase your worried about temps i have not had mine get all that hot unlike my old 3 series card.

I would recommend checking out toms hardware and other review sites.

I've had a 5770 since it came out, very excellent card for the price. Pretty much the perfect card, just enough to run everything at high settings and AA.
