The people over at Rift have updated their website descriptions of the Warrior, Rogue, Cleric and Mages to include the Beastmaster, Bard, Cabalist and Chloromancer respectively. Check out the descriptions!
There are Warriors whose deadliest weapons are their animal companions, and Rogues who set aside the dagger and pick up a lute to inspire their teammates. Some Clerics sow devastation across the battlefield, while some Mages can heal with the best of them. Take a look at Telara’s most unorthodox Souls.

I never fancied myself as a Bard tyoe MMO role players, but I have to admit I am having a ball with the Bard class in Rift. So far, it is the major part of my Rogue build on my main toon and it has prved to be a welcomed blessing for me and group mates.
that cat is freaking weak, cant kill a mob its same lvl alone... if that what they mean by deadliest.... *sigh*

Rangers are consummate hunters who know the strengths and weaknesses of every beast, taming animal companions to augment their considerable prowess in ranged combat. This synergy between bow and beast allows Rangers to handily overcome the most daunting obstacles
you cant tame in RIFT so for people who love to tame animals dont get your hopes up,ranger is almost the same as the other classes,I was kinda dissapointed in this,otherwise great game and refreshing with all the souls etc.
I will Lute you to death! My sounds are bad to enemies but my party seems to be rejuvinated by them. And when I get really silly, I shoot spitballs with my flute! Don't mess with a bard. You just might become entranced!
