Yes, but on the other hand, imagine how dull it would become to play the same mini-game over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. See, I got bored just typing that so many times. At least with the current system, it's fairly passive, quick, and you can move on to something else in good time. But actively being forced to press the same buttons in the same sequence repeatedly may not be the best idea.
Now if they could find some way to make these dynamic and interesting, I would be on board.

I always enjoyed the crafting system in EQ2 and I wish more companies would try that. I hated how in WoW I'd just buy stacks of materials, hit craft all and go afk for five minutes.

What if you didn't have to play them but you just get a slight boost if you do well in the mini-game.
