Good luck and have fun! Probably best to roll on one of the new servers because chances are you will get queues trying to join the head start ones. Have fun!
I feel like a troll screaming "Stay off my bridge". Sunrests queues are UNBEARABLE at the moment (4+ hrs during primetime). Harrow at least stays under 10+ minutes. But that won't last for long. I wish Trion would lock character creation on the full servers because otherwise there will be MAJOR issues this evening.
Guess im pretty lucky being aussie can generally miss most of the super busy times. Playing on 2 shards, Seastone and Briarcliff. As Briarcliff is probably the busiest shard and has huge cues at times I just jump on the other one. Maybe an option if theres a server you really want to play on but is always full!
Yea... I find my gametime TENDS to be 8am - 2pm EST (I predominantly work in the evening). I have made it home the last couple of evenings to "play" and found myself in the middle of resets/hotfixes after navigating the queues. Today, Trion takes their game down for 4 hours (adding 31+ servers). Good for them, but seriously they just flushed my gametime for the day down the pot. That and they didn't add any RP-PVP servers even though the 2 there are FULL each and every night.
Best of luck to Trion and a successful launch! Oh, and new people: please roll on new servers...you don't want to play on one of the stinky, used up, old ones.
I'm wondering how many people actually are starting new today?
I guess the only reason I see to do so is those folks who have been waiting for their boxed copy rather than digital download. That would be interesting to know, how many people these days still wait for the box rather than jump in early.
I'm normally in the latter crowd btw, so I understand the motivation.

Even with the box copies, people were still able to get their codes and play during the head start which is kind of confusing. I had been planning on getting the BCE, but the TV died and had to be replaced so I ended up just getting the DCE from Trion themselves.
Have to figure there will be those that waited, those that head to the store on Tuesdays to see what is new, etc, etc. Heck, there are likely going to be the people giving the game that first two weeks to a month, etc.
Given the state of the queues during prime time, it would not take that many new players to have put the few remaining non-FULL shards into queue status.
Becomes an interesting question for players, try to get back on their original servers - stay on their 2nd/3rd server - or even move on to a 4th...
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?
I dont understand why people feel the need to post their negativity in every thread. There are like 30 threads bashing the game on the main site as it is, this thread is wishing everyone luck and a good time, and one douche shows up and is like, let me tint this pool water with a little bit of my urine..
OT - I am on wolfsbane but i am torn betweeen starting over because there are some people who are already max level so i kinda want to even out, but i dont want to runt hat risk of choosing that med - low popserver. Launch day is alway a gamble in that sense.
Anyone who has actually played the game knowing what they were getting into from the start with like the game. Rift didnt claim to break the mold, it is a WoW clone, its also a warhammer clone, it is basically WoW redub.
It did what wow did, When wow launched it did nothing new, Instead it took all the features people enjoyed from the current MMOs and improved and expanded on it, it took requests people made in the past and implemented them. Anyone who has ever liked an MMO in the past can play rift and find something they like, if you cant that means either you are burnt out on the genre, or you never played the damn game.
That is all there is too it. I dont see myself playing rift for 5 years, but a year? Sure, and that is worth 50 bucks to me.

I would have preferred the box as downloading was a pain in the butt.

Rather than wait to buy the game from Gamestop store, I digitally downloaded it from Gamestop last night.
Download takes 4-5hrs!
I have been able to play up until just now. Seems the servers are a bit overwhelmed.
Game is fun though. Typical MMO, but something new. Runs smooth with nice graphics.

Avoid Whitefall, Briarcliff, Seastone, Deepstrike, Sunrest <---easily the most cap'd servers
in the game and those are the ones that fill up first.
They rolled out 31 new servers for a reason, so new guys will not have any issues.
Best of luck to Trion and a successful launch! Oh, and new people: please roll on new servers...you don't want to play on one of the stinky, used up, old ones.

WHAT does that even have to do with this topic?
OT: I'd go for the new servers as well. Busy times for Trion.
Have fun guys and make sure to pick a server where you can actually play the game

Starting today! I like the look/feel of what they did with Rift. I have been starving for entertainment in an MMO.
