Serious question, what exactly are the good things Rift have taken from other games and made them better? I hear this all the time.
Rifts are better idea than PQs from WAR since they scale based on number of players and graphic is pretty nice.
Crafting i would say it is on par with vanilla WoW.
Instances: so far i run two its better than Lotor, WAR or Aion. Boss fights have interesting mechanics. But still tad lower than instances in WoW like Mara or ZA.
Achievements are pretty nice idea similar to what is in WoW. The game doesn't have as many achievement as WoW however.
BGs are pretty well done and the maps are balanced with loot and favor (similar to honor). On par with WSG or AB in WoW but the game doesn't have as many BG maps like WAR (could be good thing for balance).
Grouping: open world grouping is well implemented. I would say one of the best.
Better has mostly to do with it looking a lot better than a lot of games while at the same time performing flawlessly (at high settings). Good code being written for this game when 50 people can be huddled around a rift tear, all attacking mobs that are attacking, while a big detailed, tangled creature is forcing its way into your universe- all without lag. Other than that it is all borrowed, but tremendously fun. Warfront pvp like in many games, collectible artifacts like in EQ2, crafting slightly better than WOW, The one thing I do like that is new (at least to me and my game experiences) is the map. You can hit M, have the map up then when you move, it becomes transulcent but still visible. A little thing, but I like it.
What are the clothing options available? I haven't really found anything about that around. I'm kind of spoiled by Aion's really nice system where you can easily replace the look of one item with the look of another so you're not always mismatched and ugly. Is there anything like that, or since WoW doesn't really have it at low levels it wasn't included here?
It has a dual dye system (primary and secondary colour), but no outfit slots like LOTRO and no armor look swap like Aion. Also the dual dye system does not always overwrite the main colour of an armor (some armors got more than two layers of colours).

Not a lot.
The crafting from what I hear is like a better version of WoW's, but then again that wouldn't really be hard to do.

It can be argued that they have borrowed almost everything from previous mmo's in some form, but then who doesn't?
As for made better? Well....nothing really.
Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy

Flying mounts!
Oh, wait...
"Who doesn't?" Well logically, somebody had to invent them at the first place.
REALITY CHECK
