Shadowrun Online?

MordothMordoth Member UncommonPosts: 65

Has anyone heard anything about this game being considered for an online game?  I loved playing the PnP version of it, and would love to see it online or even as a solo game.

Just what we don't need, more elves >.<

If we must do yet another game with fantasy trappings, Iron Kingdoms would be a good choice.

You can never have enough Elves. They stay crunchy in milk!

Ok the Shadowrun I remember didn't have elves in it.  I remember playing the one on Sega that was a futuristic game where you could hack into terminals, do missions, and use advanced Technology.  And yes I loved that game and think it would make a great MMO if done right.

I still play that sega Shadowrun game from time to time.  One of my favorite games of all time.

    Yes, Shadowrun has elves.

It posits a cyberpunk future in which magic starts to leak back into the world, thus you have 'changelings' being born, elves, dwarves, trolls all the usual fantasy claptrap hastily mooshed together with Cyberpunk.

Of course, it was very popular in its day because some people will buy anything with pointy ears and a unicorn thrown at it.

It was resurrected recently as a Heroclix set, but with much bigger figures with interchangable weapons and a new edition of the TTRPG is supposed to be coming along.

Do yourselves a favour and play that instead, might get you onto some real RPGs ;)

You can clearly see the elves and pixies and magic contamination in these two images.

Eww, you got pixies in my dystopian SF technothriller, cooties!

yeah, I remember ol' Shadowrun. Here is a link to some info..

    or if you are lazy....

Magic meets machine in 2063, a futuristic world where Orks, Elves, and Troll walk among us - casting off their Human guises. Insidious corporations have replaced the corrupt governments in the balance of power, and the heroes are the nameless souls who are only known by the title 'archetypes'. Be a deadly Street Samurai, a net-running Decker, a mysterious hermetic mage, or a wizened shaman. You also have the option to play any of the other major players in the Shadowrun universe, such as Mafia, Yakuza, Rigger, Reporter, Ganger, Fixer, and many other possibilities.

I remeber playing it on the Ninetendo a long time ago. Didn't really remember elves too clearly, but maybe the word "shamans" may refresh your memory about the game.

Well, I played Shadowrun PnP for several years (never even saw the Sega version), and I found it very entertaining.  I liked playing a mage with cyber-implants, or an Ork with a Remington Roomsweeper (shotgun pistol).  Even took down a helicopter once with a spell.  It was great fun.  People still play it.  I just happen to have been bitten by the online gaming bug a couple years ago, and my old group has sorta parted ways as often happens in post-college years.

Unfortunately I haven't heard anything about this... but the idea is great. I remember playing Shadowrun quite a bit when I was younger, and it would be great to see that universe in a MMORPG.

There was a SNES version that came out first that was totally different and I liked it alot better than the Genesis version.

Played and still have both the SNES and GENESIS versions of this classic. Sweet, sweet game. I would play this game in a heartbeat if it was a MMO. I have to say that the genesis version had a darker feel to it than the snes version, which was my favorite.

It's not exactly in the MMO category, but I know I recently read an article at BioWare's site about a soldier overseas who's writing a Shadowrun version of Neverwinter Nights. Here's an address:

It certainly looks like it'll be fun for fans of the original game. I know I always liked running around in a black trenchcoat with a monofilament katana and a pair of mirrored Ray-Bans tucked around my pointed ears. I also loved that it was set in Seattle. I've lived in Seattle most of my life, so I knew all the streets and landmarks in the official books. ::::01::

The dumbest game online. Is that what you're after?

Seems to me that Shadowrun is a no-brainer for a mmorpg.

You have a big mix of juicy Fantasy, cyberpunk, first person shooter and driveing sim all wraped up in a crispy mmorpg pastry.

Sorry for the food referance but I am hungry and the cubards are bare.

Dang I just made a reference to SHADOWRUN in another post.....

Very cool idea, has acres of plots and storylines... and while you think we have enough elves and dwarves... I think you haven't lived until you have fought a dwarf with a x-wing fighter  or a dragon with a light saber.... hmmmmm ... while think of this FASA product why not a MECHWARRIOR MMO? We need a good friggin sci-fi game besides SWG or EVE (both are cool games but they are getting old).

Witty saying to amuse you goes here.

A shadowrun Mmo might be pretty fun. I'd certainly give it a try. Of course if I was going for a cool new scifi game I'd so go for RIFTS but thanks to that scumbag kevin seimbieda That won't happen whil he's still drawing air in his lungs.

But of course till something new comes out I just picked up the New SWG 3 pack game I hope it will tide me over for te time being.
