Rifts can get kinda boring --

Joshua69Joshua69 Member UncommonPosts: 953

After awhile, starting now for me - it seems as thow doing Rifts is more of a gimmick and by max level they will be bOring. So I decided to focus on questing, and within 30minutes I found myself enjoying Rifts again, then - back to questing. O? Someone needs help with an invsion - sure I'll come help. Doing Rift's as a Raid and fighting them when there are just two or three of you in the area is a different expierence - it's fun!

To all you people debating to try it, i highly suggest you at least try it...

I think with anything you have to break it up so that it doesn't become tiresome.

I really believe that many of the purchases if not the majority of the purchases are made simply because people are bored out of their minds and there is nothing else with a server that isnt broke.

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Please do not respond to me

That's also the reason some people stick to their current MMOs, despite being bored by them. They feel there is nothing better out there and don't give a chance to whatever comes out to mature (not talking Rift specifically but in general).

I just read all the quest. The zone storylines are actually pretty amazing and they go

with what Rifts are spawing there.

Read the lore and the NPC chatter. Get into the game, not just rush through it. Fight Invastions and Rifts when they get in your way or when you are close and none of it will seem boring. I have been following this guideline and having a blast.

The most important asset any mmo has is friendship. There have been chunks of time in my mmo period where the only reason I continued to play through a difficult or boring time was because I liked the people I played with.

All they need to do is keep people hooked long enough they can build a friendship and then the friendship is enough to keep you through boring or irritating times.

Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug.

Totally agree, i have some friend's i play with, and when we start a new MMO they tend to wanna rush the game then get bored, while i like to take my time enjoy the content, explore....Really make's a game worth the while

tip #1: rifts are 10x more fun if you do them with a small group of people or by yourself.

tip#2: tutorial rifts (especially 1st rift in defiant area) suck the big one.

I find that most of the things i find boring in the game are because they are too easy. if all you do is follow 100 man zergs so that you can snipe the invasion bosses safely from the backlines, sure you will be bored. instead, if you down an invasion bosses with a small group of coordinated friends (something that can only normally be done only 5x that amount of people) it will be fun.

Most memorable games: AoC(Tryanny PvP), RIFT, GW, GW2, Ragnarok Online, Aion, FFXI, FFXIV, Secret World, League of Legends (Silver II rank)

I like how they start to incorporate the Rifts into quests and dungeons.  Makes them vary and thereby making them FUN.  This game has a TON of options to change the pace up.  From questing, grinding mobs, closing Rift, fending off Invasions, Open World PVP, Warfront PVP, Dungeons, artifact hunting, crafting.  All this available NOW, at launch.  I can't wait to see how the game grows from here, personally.

I'm already sick of the rifts honestly. I don't even bother to do the rifts on the side of the road and stuff because their just so repeptitive. The invasions are a fun little break though, but even after so many invasions I find myself from time to time just wandering away from them once its clear enough to ignore them. But i'm sure that they will add more interesting and challenging rifts. Or that they will at least pick up in intensity later to keep my interest for just a few months longer.

Well, rifts are not that advanced and there isn't that much they can do to change them completely. Sure, they spawn some rare bosses at times and the creatures are different depending on the type and level but there really is just so much you can do with them.

It is a fun idea if they use a rare enough spawn counter but at least in the beat they spawned all the time and that got boring fast.

Rifts should just be an additional bonus you do at time, not a main way to get experience. If not will the players get tired of the game really fast.

The alternative would be adding something comparibel to GW2s quest chains. The basic mechanics are there for it already.

But now is my advice: take it careful with rifts and invasions and only do the ones you must because you adventure in the area. Or you be rather bored of them at higher levels.

If they added a few other dynamic events and put down the spawning of rifts I think the game would be more interesting. But that is of course just my personal opinion, maybe some of you love the rifts and spend the entire game in them...

The community on Faeblight has been outstanding, people just chit chat in level chat and quickly answer peoples questions. Quick to respond to someones "need help". and Roleplay in /say. I don't participate in the role play myself but dont interrupt it either.

I completely agree. I grew very tired of Rifts, and if there was more of a dynamic feel to them, then they would be more exciting. As of now they spawn too often and don t really feel epic at all. Overdoing it has killed them for me. I avoided them at all costs in OB after awhile.

Yeppers... doing just rifts would be like running the same skirmish over and over in LotRO.  It's bound to get dull if you keep grinding it.

That said, in OB there seemed to be too many of them.  But then, it could be because the zone population was way up.

I am still having fun with rifts and invasions. Major invasions really feel epic with so many players gathering and fighting them. I am still amazed how smooth the performance is on these huge fights. It´s amazing.

When I see a rift I always jump on it to help. I can´t get tired of them, what can I say? I love planarite.

I guess I have to admit that I wish Rifts were more difficult. They don't really scare me, I think they need to spawn like twice as many mobs as they do now. Invasion scare me, those ** hurt and often catch me un aware!
