Oh, I thought this thread was about Firefox is only used by  n00bs. I was about to agree.

Firefox is so old and outdated. It started out nice, then it became bug ridden over bloated crap around 3.3 or 3.4, then it's security holes were found. I'd rather use IE than Firefox.

Chrome is much better, much faster, and runs much more efficiently. Pretty much all the same addons as Firefox had. I haven't used Firefox in over a year.

I like Chrome and use it next to FF, but I can't use good addons with Chrome.

Don't have programs to download from youtube, down't have news addon etc. Not enough buttons etc.

Chrome is good if you want a very simple browser that works well, but if you want all the good extras you need FF.

Chrome doesn't have 1/10th the addons Firefox has and is no more secure. Also I don't know how many times Chrome has tried to 'ninja install' itself on my system when trying to install other, totally unrelated programs. I totally refuse to use any program that resorts to this tactic to procreate itself. I treat it as if it's malware as that is exactly how it tries to get on your system. Very shady way to get your program out to the public.

It has all the important extensions. I could really give a crap less about all the newb extensions Firefox has. I use 4 extensions on Chrome, and one of them is one I don't even think Firefox had.

Keep believing Firefox is secure though. I'm sure there are some out there for Chrome, but not nearly as many, or as severe.

I tried Chrome for about a year.  It's fine for casual sites like this and all, but a lot of my online work is just that... work.  Lots of "official" sites and with various security, forms and other professional-grade content hate... and I mean hate Chrome.  They bug-out they get errors and half the time they just won't load properly.  Firefox cuts that down by about half and IE doesn't have any problems.

    Too bad I hate IE...

Yeah, that was actually what swayed me to use Chrome. I had the same problem and got tired of switching over to IE to use those sites properly. So, I installed the IE Tab on Chrome and now I don't have to switch at all, just let Chrome Emulate or Encapsulate IE for me.

Chrome 1yrs ago =/= Chrome today. It's become much much better.

    IE Tab works well.

Yeah, I've been using IE Tab in Firefox for about 3-4 years now(long before Chrome was even thought of). If you want to delude yourself that Chrome is better more power to you.

Edit: Also I am in the computer repair business. I don't know how many times I've had to wipe Chome off of people's computers because it totally screwed up their internet connection for various reasons. The thing that gets me is the simple fact that almost all of these people don't have a clue how Chrome got on their system to begin with. As I said before any program that needs to 'ninja install' itself to get onto people's systems is just not worth having. It's berely one step above malware in my book.

'Smoothwheel' is a must. It makes your browser scroll smoothly instead of jumping 2 lines at a time. Also as the 'other poster' in this thread suggested 'IE Tab Plus' is good so you'll never have to switch to IE for any webpage. Also I use a pretty slick addon called 'Flagfox' that displays the country of origin's flag for any webpage in the URL dialog box. I try to keep addons to a minimum as the more you add the longer it takes Firefox to start up.

Does anyone run their browsers in a sandbox?  After being hacked, for the first time, I've been a bit more paranoid. Mainly because I wasn't able to determine specifically how I was hacked. Though I was able to narrow it down.

I'm still learning about sandboxing and haven't decided if it's more of a placebo or actually adds another decent barrier.

Never seen that happen before. I repair PCs on the side and I've never even heard of that. I've seen Firefox doing it, but not Chrome. Which is why I call Firefox "Overbloated Junk".

Google has always been in the Ninja Installation business though. Doesn't mean their products are bad. Chrome is solid and runs much more smoothly than FF.

I started using firefox quite a while ago due to the existence of the Ad-block, I have chrome installed just for the sake of. I usually just stick to things just like i've been using Winamp for about 10 years. You use Chrome cause you thinks it's smoother/better, cool...I don't really care. You think I'm a noob for using FF, fair enough...I still don't care.

lol it was a joke. I honestly don't care either, I just think more people would like Chrome if they gave it a chance.

That's what forums are about, aren't they? Otherwise, this thread would have probably died with the OP.

Either way, I do look at FF much like I look at IE now. Everytime I have to get a computer with it to look something up, I get that "oh god not FF". I mean, you can really see a difference when you go from using Chrome all the time, to using FF. It's not so much page rendering, as it is intial loads. When you're constantly loading new tabs to multitask, there is quite a bit of time wasted waiting for them to open.

thats right just switch to chrome much better to use it rather than firefox.

No-script will block untrusted sites from taking over your browser or running Java or other code on it. It just extra security.

I suppose so. I'm just used to FF, might give chrome a proper chance some day....but lets admit one thing. FireFox sounds way cooler than Chrome lol.

Edit: Just had a quick look at chrome, it has the new fancy pants UI like what MS did with IE, no old-school tab bar at top. I hate that crap, same reason why I think MS Ofiice 2003 > MS Office 2007. Apology in advance if you can edit the UI to make it look like FF, I'm quite lazy.

You mean File/Edit/Etc menus? Yeah, Chrome doesn't have that, it's very minimalistic. It does have a favorites bar, but I have that turned off.

Ya, maybe you enjoy retyping the website/website's particular webpage you visit regularly(I know about the history tab screen or w/e it's called but I have about 30 bookmarks in FF), instead just having to click your mouse a couple of times. Chrome might be perfect for the slower comps but it doesn't matter that FF isn't minimalistic, I have a intel i7 cpu and I have software to prevent and kill spyware, plus I defrag my HDD from time to time so my pc always stays fast.

i7 920 @ 3.8ghz, 4x7200 raid 0, FSB QPI 6.4GT/S, not sure what my ram is anymore DDR3 1333 so it should be in the 1700-1800 range with the OC.

You actually get a whole page of bookmarks if you want, when you make a new tab as well as an optional bookmark toolbar. If you make a new tab, you get a sorta blank screen with all your bookmarks listed full webpage size.

Personally, I'm a keyword typer. I type the first 2 letters of where I want to go, and select it from the list.
