I decided to post this here incase anyone gets bored with character creation. enjoy. Yes I posted this in the offical fourms too.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a game we played in DDO with character creation. It was called GIMP or the "Get into Multi-class Project".
Since we are already multi-classed by design I'd thought this would be fun.
Here are the rules. I've changed them to fit RIFT.
There are two ways to play.
ORIGONAL: Make a new character. From scratch.
Altered: use an empty role.( This is cheating, it breaks the item rules, but most people don't want to make an alt.)
ADDITIONS for playing altered:
1. Must have completed all the normal class quests for your base class.
2. PVP CLASS isn't added since its ONLY pvp oriented. If you want to make an ONLY PVP GIMP, Make it on another role. :P
3. Use an empty Role(spec) no need to make a new character like DDO. (This is cheating though)
4. Have fun and be honest. If you are going to go through a dungeon as a group of gimps. Don't change your role to something well thought out.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
USE THE /ROLL# command (example /roll 3)
You will have to do this with either your main your altering OR with another character on chat.

Character creation
Players will need to make official rolls. An official roll is a die roll made with 2 guild witnesses.
First step is to select the race: Roll a d3.
-Then, a players rolls for classes. He rolls on 1d8 Once a class is rolled, it cannot be rejected unless it is excluded by a prior class. (can't be two pyromancers for example)
-Numbers 1-8 will be according to the List below.
-The choices of class are final for the GIMP role.
-These classes are rolled on at each quest that gives a new role in the tutorial zone at the beginning of the game
Leveling
-Player rolls d3. You spend a point in the rolled class. 1,2,or 3 from left to right respectively.
-You roll once per skill point, till you are out skill points.
-When a roll has been made you may put your skill point anywhere you want in that selected tree.
EXAMPLE
Trenton want to make a GIMP. He's playing guardian, He rolls a d3 and scored a 2. He's an high elf. He rolls a d4 and its a 1. He's a Warrior. (or opens a free role slot if he's playing an altered since race and class were already picked. CHEATER!) Then he rolls an 8 on a D8, he is a Beastmaster. Then he rolls a 1, he is a Champion. He next rolled a 8, Beastmaster, but he can't be a Beastmaster since he is already one. He finally rolls a 4, Warlord, so Trenton will be a Champion/Beastmaster/Warlord
Trenton has Skill points to spent
He makes an official roll on a D3, telling his mates that 1 = Beastmaster, 2= Champion, 3 = Warlord. (left to right in order received) He rolls a 3. Trenton will thus put 1 skill point into Warlord where ever he wishes. This will continue untill you run out of skill points.
wait wait wait wait
That means we can't plan anything ahead!
Exactly.
LOOT
Gimp multiclassing means nothing if you have high end to level crafted gear, so the loot is also very restricted:
- A GIMP can NOT use crafted gear.
- A GIMP can only use what he gets in the chests, mobs, or as end rewards. He can also use the money he gets to buy from regular merchants (pots, scrolls, wands, mounts, leveling skills).
- A GIMP cannot, ever, use the brokers or the auction house.
- A GIMP can give an item he recieved as an end reward to a party member, if done immediately after the quest/rift/invasion. Once the group disband, or once a new quest is selected, the trade cannot happen. This way, after a quest, a group of GIMPs can all banter together as they select end-rewards.
Need,Greed, or Pass as necessary, Remember there is no trading to other characters that are not GIMPS. So no need to role need on plate for an alt if your a mage. ALSO In the case of long drawn out invasions and quests/dungeons list your artifacts after you get them.
- A GIMP cannot receive any items from another source.
- The only exception is, at ONE time, a gimp can receive, ONCE, a Large slotted bag max of 12 slots.
BUT they have to buy it from the merchant and make it there on foot. (98 gold)
- A fellow party member can, before, during, or after a quest, give potions, to a fellow member.
- GIMPS can share quests.
Other Rules
- GIMPs or GIMP Mode can only group with other GIMPS or people in GIMP mode.
- GIMPs can use any lame, cheesy, strategy, like safe spots, etc..., because, after all, they are gimps, and will need all the help they can get.
- IF Altered wants to play his gimp role OR as his main he has to remove ALL CRAFTED ITEMS off his character and start playing with the Original item rules.

you havent played rift have you?
I've been in since alpha.
Currently lv 32.
you haven't read the entire post have you?
Its something to do while you play. Whats funner then trying to get a completely randomized multiclass to work. :P
My guilds already done this and its a blast.
Lol ... 9 out of 10 are gimped without realising
This sounds like a hilarious good time. It reminds me a bit of the Grot Fights (Ork Race builder squads) we used to do In Warhammer 40k Dawn of War 1.
"Gypsies, tramps, and thieves, we were called by the Admin of the site . . . "
I wonder what the worst game ever to play a totally randomized character would be.
Guild Wars could be pretty bad, it wouldn't be too hard to randomly end u pwith a character with moves that dont' even work together, and 0 combat options.
When I translated the rules over to rift couple weeks ago. I tried it out myself. 20+ is a bitch lol.
Sometimes you get a good spec. Sometimes you get a bunch of Dots and no pet lol. :P
That actually sounds fun... if i ever buy the game i might give it a try
That does sound like fun
I'm not into Rift but if I find a game I want to play where it will be applicable I will give it a go....
We used to do something similar but to a way lesser extent with skill/spell lottery you'd only get so many random spells/skills from offensive/defensive/buff categories and try to make it work depending on the game but your idea is way more fun and more well rounded
Reminds me of Arkham Horror rules where you'd get 2-3 random chars and you had to pick one of them and make the best of it hehe.
Cheers CK
Sounds cool. Something I'll do after I get at least one to end game.
Please stay on topic. Thanks .
