In the latest Producer's Letter on the Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone, Naoki Yoshida reveals the statistical results of last week's Player Poll 2. Each question shows a breakdown of responses with some responses from the FFXIV team. Yoshida indicates that the gathered data gives developers a clear road map to future updates.
So, what did you think of the second Players' Poll results? I really can't thank you enough for all of the valuable opinions. The data has really helped us map out the direction in which to take the battle system from here. All that's left to do is to finalize the specs and start writing the code. But after-the-fact adjustments and reworkings being what they are, it simply isn't possibly to fit everything that needs to be done in a single monthly patch. And so we're planning to release every big change over the course of two smaller-size updates. You'll be able to start seeing the changes to the battle system come spring, so please be patient just a bit longer!

So it looks like people want things to be more like ffxi but with the option of being able to solo if you don't have time to find a party. Which if I remember was the most complained about part of ffxi, which took then 6 years to fix lol.
I think with ffxiv they went too far when it comes to the solo aspects. But the good thing is I am happy with the results of this poll and hope the new dev team can move ahead quickly and get the game where it's supposed to be.
which is quite obvious if you make a sequel, dont you think ? improve the things you have and get rid of things players dont want or dont like. still SE is clueless and did so far give a crap about their audience. amazing fact, they just discovered player polls in 2011.
I like the idea of these player polls, and I hope that they seriously turn the game around using the opinions of the playerbase, because the options voted for so far are pretty much spot-on for what I'd want to play.
Looking forward to the upcoming changes.
Yeah, it is funny that it took them almost 10 years to figure out how to use player polls, but I remain optomistic that it's all for the better. I'm not saying for a second that I wasn't disgusted with the game at release and have since stopped playing. I'm just hoping that they can fix the things that need fixed and I can switch over from an aging game that I really don't play that much anymore
Quite nice to involve the community. To involve your customer and build a product arround them, just makes sense.

If they had simply reskinned FFXI with FFXIV's graphics, they would have an unbelieveably massive success on their hands, and it would have taken a tenth of the time and money to do it. Why they decided to gut the gameplay, and wreck everything is beyond me. Everything about FFXIV is cumbersome and stupid (FFXI was sometimes cumbersome, but never stupid). Even the Japanese hate this pile of shit, and that says something. Worst disappointment in gaming EVER.
@Freach, only sad thing about that statement is it is the fact that it is the best selling MMO in Japan at the moment. After a few patches the game skyrocketed in Japan.
Where if the freakin edit button? Sorry that wasn't @Freach, that was @Ironhelix
exactly. you got to be an idiot of game designer and the worst kind of product director if you neglect what you have as a predeccesor. but we see, they still cant figure this on out. ffxiv players just want a better ffxi reboot.
I like the player polls too. I think SE have taken a very sensible approach of consulting their player base and seeing what they want and what works and what doesn't. I think it also shows that XIV is very much the sequel to XI in SE's game plan, and I think once they have it write and have patched in enough content the game will get PS3 client release, and it will be finally great!
it's nice that SqE are honestly trying to rebound after their launch which was, TBQH, an epic fail of the epicest proportions.
the faith they showed to their gamers by extending the free month to (what was it?) almost 3 months was a good first step and it was nice seeing such a normally arrogant game company show some humility.
one day soon i'll likely try it again.
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

I just did, and virtually NOTHING has changed. I keep checking in periodically, and while they are tweaking things, it's pretty clear that the overall game will stay as it is. I uninstalled, and won't be coming back.
