NCSoft is introducing a new way to download and patch City of Heroes, The NCSoft Launcher! Check out the announcement!

We are introducing a new way to download and patch City of Heroes, through the NCsoft Launcher! For a limited time, all customers who use the NCsoft launcher will unlock the new Wisp Aura for free! The NCsoft Launcher provides several new enhancements, including the ability to download patches faster through a content distribution network.

    Hate that freaking NCSoft launcher. Why do I need yet another launcher in order launch another launcher? Unnecessary.

    I personally prefer direct downloads... These launchers are nothing but annoyance.

    Oh my God I hate this.  The first time I tried to down load the new .....I had to System restore back to another date. 

    Tried again and it will not launch my game at all. 

    Guess I have to do a System restore again.  Or maybe just stop playing City Of Heroes. 

    This is just sad. 

    I know I have an older computer just Vista but kick me in the face why don't you while your at it.

    Launching CoX goes a lot faster now and downloading patches is also a lot faster.

    Set the option in the launcher to shut down when game starts, so it won't use any system resources.

    Works perfectly, no more clicking buttons like "NEXT" and "AGREE", just launch and you're ready to login and play.

    @FoxySpirit: Next to my new computer I also installed it on a very old computer (PIV with XP) and no problem at al. So if you say you have to do a system restore, maybe it's time to do a complete format and clean install of Windows.

    I'm not saying anything negative about having to use an older system, you don't have to be ashamed of that, but I guess there's something wrong with your Vista.

    I was kind of confused about the "Launcher launching a Launcher" thing too when I frist updated. But that was a stopgap measure.

    They changed it so that it no longer uses the COH launcher if you use the NC Soft one now.

    (and as another poster noted, it seems to patch faster now then it did)

    "Content distribution network?" Does that mean bit torrent? If so, are they aware that some ISPs throttle bit torrent traffic heavily?

    It patches in the background, so when you've been at work all day and want to load up City when you get home you don't have to patch manually.

    The old NC Soft launcher was garbage, this one seems pretty nice.

    I have to thank the COH team of techs that helped me get the Lancher installed.  Woot.  GM Zephyr and all the others are wonderful. 

    It is all working!!!
