The APB Reloaded blog has been updated with a recap of the first week of beta testing. The report is a comprehensive look at the good and bad of the beta testing thus far and a reminder of what precisely closed beta testing means. The dev team acknowledges that it has received a lot of feedback that points them in the right direction for the upcoming weeks with a "staggering amount" yet to do before commercial launch.
The entire purpose of CB is to validate the basic game systems, work out all game balance issues, solve server lag, identify any performance problems, identify any unexpected crashes and identify serious game play or progression issues. Especially since right now we only have the Los Angeles location operating the game to test all routes to that one location. Let's be clear - there are SEVERAL of these issues in the game that we are working on right now. Therefore the biggest help for the team are well written bug reports of issues that you encountered in the game or details of any unexpected behaviors that you can document thoroughly. The least amount of help is pointing out that there is a lot of lag from the UK to Los Angeles. Yup - we know there is a lot of lag from the UK to Los Angeles. Instead we ask players focus on items that can actually help improve the game.

Finally someone sees a need to nerf shotguns and the damn ntec. that was one of the most OP guns ever.
The things I've read about the new attempt with APB definitely sounded promising. Only remains the worry that the cash shop/premium items will be way OP but I'll give those guys the benefit of the doubt. Looking forward to give the beta a try!
I personally love this game but man theres soo many hackers already on beta that you cant even play is horrible, i hope they do something to mitigate hackers and get rid of punkbuster use something diferent cuz to tell you the truth punkbuster lags and catch nothing.... PERIOD i been dealing with servers and punkbuster for a very long time and is the easiest anti-cheat program to fool
Xtoor do you know how many that cried wolf in beta and release and there was no cheating at all. I got so many tells from ppl that accused me of cheating, my friend got tons of tells from ppl that accused them of cheating and in the end it was only bad losers that could not handle the fact that some one had more skill or was luckier then them. maybe there was cheats in APB but not so many that ppl think it was. I can say that i can only remember 1 or 2 times i did think the other guy was cheating but every other time i got my butt kicked i figured out i was out skilled.

The hit boxes need to be fixed, I cant count the number of times my crosshairs were red with the circle red and emptying a clip into someone who was crouch behind a low wall and seemed like I was doing nothing.Plus I was near a corner for cover had clear line of fire with the crosshairs red and my first 3 shots made marks in the wall I was by even tho I had clear LOS to my target and wasnt obstructed by the wall.
Yea, back in the first release of ABP, people yelled "hack!" all the time but really, those people were just bad players encountering good players.
The same happens in FPS's *shrug*
There were hacks on original APB and theres even more on beta one, i do reconize an skilled player from a cheater i been server, gameserver, webserver admin most of my life and i know for fact that APB is full of hacks wich is a shame, i can identify someone aiming thru the wall when theres no posible way they could even see you just to give you some details and really im not arguin with you or anyone, i know what i know im not just a player im and had been server admin for a very looong time and yes i do have knowledge that you probably cant understand.
agreed on the punkbuster part
Im not really sure if the original beta had problems with hacks, or just extreme balance issues combined with player skill and pc performance ranges being too extreme as well, making it feel like everyone was cheating.
My rig wasn't that bad for the time, but with an Intel e6750 core 2 @3.2ghz, an 8800gt and 2 gigs on XP the game played worse than Crysis at times, in moments with a high amount of onscreen action, which is often when you are to trying to aim at people.
I'd clumsily try to hit someone once before they kill me with 1 or 2 shots from a Ntec ,if they were really good. And other people i would run into often seemed to either massacre me or me them. Rarely would it seem pretty even or at least close to it, making me think it could be connection issues.
But, there were times certain notorius players would be around for hours, and you couldn't be in his sight without being instakilled by a headshot from a mile away. It would drive me crazy but i could never actually find someone cheating without having kill replays or some kind spectating. I always suspected hacks, but who knows.
Its why APb needs some form of PvE.
Without PVE the game will dwindle as people get tired of losing to other players who're better at APB than they themselves.
The game needs to offer a way for each and every player to feel "rewarded" when they fire the game up and play it.
With those who're less than good at APB, they'll be driven away very quickly, if they don't get a sense of worth and accomplishment.

Ummmmmmm.................Wouldn't Sorting out the Lag problem Improve the game??????? Oh! No! maybe the UK Lag problem is not worth worrying about - after all it is ONLY the UK!

I never understand any gaming company making ONLY PvP games! They will Hardly Corner the Market that way!
The most successful games have both PvP and PvE - that way catering to ALL Tastes, that will bring in more players and more players means More Money! And isn't that Really what it is about? Making money?
No Good business does things their way because it is what They Like! They do it the way any future customers will like in order reel them in to Make Money!

If this game is still in the state of the original title it is going to need some major work. It was not a very good shooter, so no shooter fans stuck around and it was not a complete or full featured MMO so none of those players stuck around either.
The social district is tiny and boring. It needs more depth and A LOT more things to do. It also needs major time spent on the basic systems.. Things like gun balance, hit boxes, movement, interaction, driving. All of it is subpar and gimmicky at best.
Might as well wait for Planetside 2 imo.
You totally missed the point there. Currently there is only an US server and of course the ping to it sucks from the UK. That's obvious, no need to report that. The reason why it's not a real issue is that most likely starting this week the EU servers will start. The UK players then will play on the EU servers anyway. I hope that explaining helped getting rid of your confusion.
Then you had to have played the original game with blinders on. The amount of cheating toward's the end was incredible!
I won't bother with this game until I am assured they have most of the cheating under control.
to all those who think there is an overabundance of hacking(i was once one of you...), keep this in mind:
as they've pointed out, there are lag issues. those issues plague those overseas as well as those near the servers. what do you get with lag? intermitent and inaccurate hit detection. in many cases, it's not that the other person is hacking or cheating. they simply are not where they appear to be on YOUR screen. if you're experiencing lag and they're not, as long as the "cheater" keeps moving you're not hitting them on THEIR screen. this is the frustrating reality in ALL shooters of any sort.
i'm not saying the cheaters aren't out there. when you have people who are playing legit getting hate tells for "assumed" hacking and unjustified harassment reports filed against them, there's a false issue created in the minds of the community of the game. people who may be genuinely interested see all the "hacker this, hacker that, why punkbuster so much crap?!" stuff and my be turned away. i feel that's what hurt the original APB and i'd hate to see that happen to reloaded.
my suggestion? if you're one of the lucky ones in the CB, turn on your FPS/PING display. if i remember correctly, it was /fps on the original APB. if you're one of the unfortunate ones whos ping is always over 100ms, you're not being a victim of a hacker. you're a victim of lag.
100ms is a 1 second delay if i'm not mistaken. so unless your opponent is directly in front of you, you WILL have instances where you are not actually hitting them. ESPECIALLY if they are a mobile target. keep this fact in mind the next time those of you who are actully in the CB are testing and seem to be matched up against a supposed "hacker".
i hope to get the chance to get in. i thoroughly enjoyed the original APB amidst the lag-driven losses. lag or no lag; if you're in a coherent group,(and you're not the one driving) you'll see a drastic increas in your success rate. well, that's the way it was in the original...
so long story short, before rage quitting, QQing, and/or hacker-accusing, make sure your ping isn't killing you before the other guy is.
