You will never be compettive in DarkFall PVP... EVER. You will never catch up with the players who have been grinding skills since day 1.
MO you can max a character in a week or so. Then pvp.
Those are both negatives in my book.
Just opposite ends of the same spectrum. Character development is a primary driver of what makes a game a RPG. Both games take it to extremes that ruin that for me.
Fair enough, but I prefer doing fun things as oppossed to sitting and hitting a tree to get a 0.1 skill increase!!!!! YES!!! That is not character development, just a buffer time.
Fun things like constantly having to relog into a game after yet another client crash I suppose.
Given the up coming armour changes, the meditation system and the skill increase speed, people will indeed become competitive in DF should they join now or later. But no hitting cap wont be happening in two weeks and nor should it quite frankly.
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."

That's just poor game design.. on both games.

Reading that i can max a character in 2 weeks on mortal online now means il never play the game, darkfall it is then.
really 2 weeks i can do it in a few days and stat up in an hour, mo is not really about "grinding" your "levels" to be honest, its more endgame type of game.
by all means spend 90% of your time macroing your skills up and grinding on animals just for skill, if thats what you consider fun.
mo, you got to find ou things, like mats, and stuff, spawns, the world, get a house, join a guild/start a guild, make money by interacting with players by selling carcasses to butchers since they do not drop "epic lootz" also if you want grind then butcher and slag hauling can take more then a few months.
also getting the high tier metal will take you alot of time, but I came from darkfall to mo and since then I have never considerd going back to darkfall even doe my time there was good, it just got boring really quick, and everything was so "bland" and the world did not feel alive as MO.
MO is more realisic, where darkfall is kinda more fanstey, the big difference.
Mo got real nights, very hardcore systems, like for exmaple, you not wearing any armour, you can get killed in like 2 hits to the head, and when you have armour its like 10-12 hits and also theres "directional blocking" and its first person and also the combat is much more slow paced and theres no "uber spells" and most combat is done by melee and darkfall is mainly AOE SPELL spam.
also most of the people in here, are generally negative because they support other games like lazuar666/slapshot etc, just look at their post history and you get the general idea.
xyson, pvp is bad, pve is bad, terraforming is restrictied to only tribes and your area.
darkfall is pvp arena where mo is sandbox but without the sand.
this is the most trufhful thing your going to get, but darkfall got some nice feautres but its really about what you are looking for.
Really, just try the trial of both games before making a decision.
darkfall pvp is like spamming.
both games are "skill based" but darkfalls are actual "skills" where mo is about "player skill" but the combat in darkfall is smoother, concerning server stability and lag.
to be honest, its just down to taste, the games are really different to each other, in the way that mos systems are bit more complex where darkfalls are just "streamlined"
I am currently in a guild that plays in mo,darkfall and xsyon, and im currently subbed to MO and xsyon as mo offers better experince for me personally more then Darkfall, but darkfall is ok, but the immersion in mo is really sweet and I don't like AOE spam to be honest and people who have 4 times the amount of health because the gap between noob and vet is a large one and it take like 6 months just to be able to fight on par with them.
Also if you care about the sandbox experince, then mo is more down that route, since it not so focused on PVP as darkfall is and is currently introducing.
long term wounds, breeding, cooking etc.
like another example of how the games are differnet is that taming in mo is actually the player trying to tame where in darkfall you "create them though getting this special herb you cut with grass" where in mo you go to horse spawn and tame the creature and you have to constantly feed it so it doesn't "Run away" (lose loyalty) and you can store pets in darkfall in your inventory and they magically pop out of your inventory when you click on its icon, where in mo, you have to "stable your creatures" and you can't just carry them in your inventory and "pop them out when you feel like it"
also darkfall got "unlimited bank storage" where "mo is limited" and also in darkfall you can carry a hell lot of things in your inventory and you can do everything on one character where mo "everyone has to choose, between skills and create their class"
also it got a system, when you create yoru character, you can have half breeds, etc, and even change eye colour, different breeds, where in darkfall you just select a race and wa la.
Also Darkfall only has one hit box, where mo has hit boxes for different limbs! and also the crafting system, you can make and name your own custom armours and weapons where in darkfall they are just items you craft like in wow for instnace.

really 2 weeks i can do it in a few days and stat up in an hour, mo is not really about "grinding" your "levels" to be honest, its more endgame type of game.
What endgame???
by all means spend 90% of your time macroing your skills up and grinding on animals just for skill, if thats what you consider fun.
I do agree you need to macro a shit ton to get skills.
mo, you got to find ou things, like mats, and stuff, spawns, the world, get a house, join a guild/start a guild, make money by interacting with players by selling carcasses to butchers since they do not drop "epic lootz" also if you want grind then butcher and slag hauling can take more then a few months.
There are no EPIC LOOTZ in MO.
also getting the high tier metal will take you alot of time, but I never go back to darkfall if someone payed me.
You don't need it just use steel.
also most of the people in here, are post are generally negative because they support other games.
And you are posting "good" things about MO because you support it. derp
xyson, pvp is bad, pve is bad, terraforming is restrictied to only tribes and your area.
I do agree Xsyon pvp is not good. But the sandbox features make MO's sandbox features look like a litter box full of cat turds. Also it has "potential" is that not the reason most people play MO waiting for the potential to come to fruition. In my opinion sandbox is 3/4 of the box and pvp is 1/4. Seems to me Xsyon is ahead of MO. Lets just hope it does not tak almost a year of "tweaking" to get the pvp in xsyon where it needs to be, unlike MO.
darkfall is pvp arena where mo is sandbox but without the sand.
LOL DUDE!! MO and DF are pvp arenas DO I really need to post the hundreds of threads in here of all the SUBSCRIBERS asking where the sandbox is?? See Thaerics post puuhlease. The only thing different about both the Death Match arenas is DF's keep and territory control mean something whereas MO's was put in to make some people (who do not even play anymore) happy.
this is the most trufhful thing your going to get, but darkfall got some nice feautres but its really about what you are looking for.
HAHAHAH yeah riiiiight. truthful.
Really, just try the trial of both games before making a decision.
I agree.
darkfall pvp is like spamming.
And MO's is hoping you hit with the current prediction system.
both games are "skill based" but darkfalls are actual "skills" where mo is about "player skill" but the combat in darkfall is smoother, concerning server stability and lag.
LOL no.
to be honest, its just down to taste, the games are really different to each other, in the way that mos systems are bit more complex where darkfalls are just "streamlined"
To me they are both death match games pretending to be a sandbox where both fall short of that mark. All you need to decide is which pvp is polished. And MO is far from polished.

Umm, are you basically just agreeing with what he said?
Generally, mobs drop whatever you would normally find on them (i.e. wool, leather, horns, scales etc) that you can then use in crafting.

In point of fact there is epic loot. It just ends up being more mystery and less one size fits all, ready to wear armor or weapons, http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/attachments/general-discussion/5139d1290532731-greater-kimuru-kimuru.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderegg http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/56023-red-thunderegg-2.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6CIfwYME3w
In MO steel is the the bottom of the high tier metals.
Mine gabore, extract bloodore, extract pigiron
Mine calx, extract coal and calx powder
Use some of that coal to produce coke
Mine saburrra, extract saburra powder
combine pigiron, coke and calx powder--->grain steel
combine grain steel, coal and saburra powder---> steel
cronite is only slightly more complicated (one more extraction step and a different final combine)
