Unable to access game after receiving message, GM booted me out of game

Are the servers down or something?  I let my character stay logged in all night to sell some things on bazaar, woke up to an error message saying GM booted me out of game.  Figured because I had been afk for hours.  But now I can't get back into the game.  I restarted computer and evrything and the game won't open.  ??????

Well servers went down for an update at one point, which might be the trigger for "gm booting you from game"

Are you sure you got the recent update installed? Are you logging in using the regular Netmarble "MarbleStation.Exe" executable, and not some other method?

  • GrayGreeneGrayGreene Member Posts: 239

Yeah, I'm doing everything like i normally would.  It's still not working so going to try uninstalling and reinstalling later this evening.

  • brash99brash99 Member UncommonPosts: 94

Try also running Glbmsupdater.exe from the NetMarble subfolder and see if you can update that way.

Otherwise, a reinstall should fix it.

Why are these games so troublesome?  I love UWO but had huge bug in advanced trade school that kept me from playing for two weeks, and cost me over 375000 ducats.  Support, as in most games these days, is horrible and still has never resolved any past issues.  I am reinstalling now, another 2 hours.  This is the third time i've had to do this.  Hopefully this will fix the issue and i can play again tomorrow.

Oh it was system maintenace you got booted out of the server to prevent damage to your character because the second expansion was implemented yesterday

some regions seem to have trouble acessing the game so they are fixing it particularly players from germany

and apparently the few people who use vista

Not  working.  Damn.  Just when the company i started was taking off.  Guess i will try to contact another company member by email.  Need to figure out how to transfer the company to someone who can still play.  Anyone know how i can do that if I can't play the game any longer?

  • aika_satoaika_sato Member Posts: 24

it is true due to regional stabilization you may lose the ability to connect to the game after  maintenance all you can do is wait till they re stabilize the server

Did your client update on the next time you logged in after the patch maintainance?

It does somehow sound like your client has got messed up, try running a scandisk on your install drive.

Ok, worked.  Got on the game.  But within a few minutes my computer starting beeping and power shut down.  I tried again, but it did the same thing in game.  My computer is working fine again, but i haven't tried getting back into the game.  My security suite Mcafee updated as well to a newer version  and I thought this might be the problem.  I clicked on allow always, but everytime i do anything for UWO I have to continue clicking allow always.  So the problem here could be my power supply, graphics card, security suite, or the update itself.  I have little knowledge of computers.  I just can't afford a new one right now; Just bought this gaming computer last year.  I will log in tonight after work and see if it runs.  Thanks for the help.  Maybe i should get some books on computerts and start learning what the hell i'm doing.

This certainly sounds like a hardware issue to me. Either something overheating or a power supply issue.

What happens when you run some very graphically intensive game? (Even a demo)

You might download CPU-Z's Hardware Monitor and have it running in the backgroynd as you play:

    http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Try playing windowed mode so the monitor is visible while you are actually ingame, and watcfh the CPU.GPU monitors,  it will also record the max temp your GPU & CPU get to during a session. You could also check inside the case for excessive dust buildup, especuially within the videocard.processor fans (thats sometimes hard to check with a visual gkance though)

Do you know if the videocard came with the computer or was added later? Sometimes people add a gaming card to a system with a weak generic PSU that is unable to power the card.

But the beeping to me sounds more like heat than power.

I have speed fan t monitor my temp. and riva tuner working to crank up the speed.  Usually I'm able to run any graphics intense game just fine.  Even though the graphics card I have (geforce 8800gt) seems to run hot most times, the only thing differently i've done lately is play Civ V after a few months of not playing it.  That game seems to single-handedly raise the temp. by like 20 some degrees when playing.  I have to crank up rivatuner to 100 percent fan speed for Civ V.  I played a few hours before going to bed the night before.  Should have been plenty of time for card to cool down.  Right now UWO is working again.  I stayed logged in for about 15 minutes before logging out and did not experience a problem.  I'm just wondering if Civ V is destroying my graphics card.

  • brash99brash99 Member UncommonPosts: 94

By chance I happen to have a 8800GTX that also runs rather hot normally, so I also use Riva Tuner and I also set the fan to 100% at all times.

This actually seems to happen the most often not with the "super graphical" games, but with less demanding ones that also put no cap on FPS and as a result, run at incredibly high FPS especially while in "menu mode" rather than in normal gameplay, and apprently cause my 8800 series card to hit super high temps.  Apparently this is mostly an issue under Win7 as apprently the base NVidia/ATI drivers no longer force on VSync through the driver control panels, and W7 seems to especially allow cards to go into "overdrive" especially on lesser demanding games or games with no cap on fps during menu modes. Not everyone gets affected, just some, dunno why. Sims 3 and Starcraft 2 had similar issues for some, with higher end cards affected the most.

Besides using the riva tuner fan manual seting at 100 percent,  two other things that actually helped me, was to use rivatuner's 3DOveride to force ON vysync (and limit framerates to the monitor refresh) and also to use a little utility called FPS Limiter which allows me to cap the FPS in many games, and lowered my card's temp a lot (from maxes up to 100C, back down to a more manageable 70-80C during heavy loads, and 40-50C during idle). I actually can't use this FPS Limiter in Uncharted Waters however as you need to launch the game's executable using the utility via a bat file, and Uncharted Waters is not launched directly using the game client but instead by using the NetMarble. But the 3DOverride forcing VSync on at all times does seem to still help.

Recently I have been having an issue with either the monitor shutting off or  the "nvidia driver stopped responding" errors, sometimes while running UWO and sometimes just watching YouTube or videos, and have been worried that my 8800 may be dying =/ so one other tip I followed via google was to switch the windows desktop to "classic" instead of the fancy aero stuff as that apparently is felt by some to trigger the "display driver not responding" issue. Dunno if you also get that issue, just throwing that out there in case.

I don't know if it is something our 8800 cards have in common (maybe both our cards are dying, eeks!), or if any of those will help you at all. I've also had to use some of these on my daughters computers whose videocards are running way too hot since switching them from WinXP to W7 (different cards, an ATI x1900xtx and a Radeon HD 3860

My boyfriend whose computer is an exact clone of mine, opted not to upgrade from Win7 and is still using WinXP, and he has no issues at all (and is also a little smug about it, heh). Obviously it does not affect the majority of people out there, just some.

Edited to addL Some other discussions if you want to follow up on this:  http://tinyurl.com/4mupqxy

Thank-you so much.  I really appreciate the help.  I will take a look at what you said and see if it makes a difference.  I rarely have issues with any games I've tried, except Civ V.  Must be unrelated to the UWO update.

  • brash99brash99 Member UncommonPosts: 94

I don't know if you have tried Starcraft 2, apparently that is another game that affects some computers that run more demanding games just fine, but apparently the games affected most are ones where you spend a lot of time in menu mode, and the game code has no limit on fps while in menu mode.

These threads also discuss it, and one of the games mentionned (besides SC2) appears to be Civ 5:

Well, it's definitely UWO that's causing the issue.  I am able to play th eother games on my computer like Vanguard, Lotro, ect.  Something happened with the UWO update and I can't fix it.  I had to uninstall and will do a defrag tomorrow.

I was able to contact a company member.   I'm trying to figure out how to give him control of the company since I'm unable to play any longer.  Can this be done through netmarble?  Thanks again for all the help.

(will keep  playing around with FPS and Rivatuner but will need to do a lot of research first since I'm an idiot basically.  I'm too afraid of ruining my computer just for a game, albeit an exceptional one)

  • brash99brash99 Member UncommonPosts: 94

Interesting since you logged in for 15 minutes earlier without issue.  Its curious why it worked then, and now borked again like right after the update.

The other thing I would check is whether nProtect/GameGuard has some issue now that was not a problem before -- a change in antivirus/firewall/router or some new program installed, not sure what to suggest except maybe make sure the entire NetmarbleGlobal folder is exmpted from any firewall/AV, maybe try a different antivirus program or even try resetting the router. (I use the free Microsoft Security Essentials)

You can change your leader, appoint deputies at your country HQ companies shop.

On your pc get a fine soft brush or compressed air to blast all the dust off all the heatsinks, it can't to any harm.

they fixed both the game and forum now I dont get the error to origin problem anymore has gray been able to return to the game permanently now ?

Beeping and automatically shutting down definitely sounds like overheating.

At first go to BIOS and check what is the temperature which triggers shutdown, try to increase it a bit. If you feel a bit stronger, you can turn it off entirely for testing purposes, but when you do that, monitor your temperatures in Windows carefully.

Doesn't hurt to blow out the dust from coolers as well, like Norton suggested.

op you mentioned updating mcaphee to a new version, i assume you had exceptions set for OWU?

nprotect/gameguard has issues with some viruses/firewalls. one game i played i cant recall which had me having to delete the exceptions for the game and redoing em evyrtime the anti virus updated.

as to the beeping and you pc shutting down by itself , does it restart right away or do you have to wait a few mins, like has been mentioned it could be your psu that is getting old.

i had problem with an older pc before where one game in particular made the pc turn off like that after a bit, and it got progressively worse till it would even do this with no game running. This took a few months to happen though.the time before it would restart got worse over time aswell.

it ended up being the psu that was dying, beeping can mean a few things its usaully the bios warning you something is wrong. it can be a fan turning to slow , a temp getting to high or a voltage out of  tolerance. (in my case psu problem was making the psu fan run slowamd was cuasing lots of heat)

if your pc beeps when you try and start it up right after it crashes you can look here for the beep codes and what they mean

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

Also if that 8800GT was added to a system that shipped with generic onboard graphics or a lowend "office" card like a GeForce 210, very often they use cheap generic PSUs in those that may have high watts listed but unable to sustain it over a period. Gradually the PSU just wears out under the heavier load of a gaming videocard like the 8800 series.  But if the computer shipped with the 8800 already installed, they probably used a more dependable psu built for a gaming system and that is less likely the issue, and more likely an overheating issue.

Since a few security softwares actually consider gameguard/nprotect to be a "rootkit", I am not sure if any would go so far as to shut down the system to protect it, which is why you might test another security program like Avira or Microsoft Security Essentials as those seem to have few issues with GameGuard.

Thanks again.  My computer seems to be working fine.  I've hit the links posted in responses here and need more time to figure out what everything means.  I figured my graphics card had gotten too hot and shut down.  However, I've played Vanguard for an hour without any issue and logged in for about 20 mintues to my other games.  RIght now, I'm going to have to give up UWO until i figure out a little more about the problem.  Can't just be coincidence that this happened at the same time as the update, and the problem only persists with UWO.  UWO lasts about 10 -15 minutes before my computer shuts down.  The beeping only happens right after this moment.  It doesn't happen during startup or at any other time.  I have an older computer I used to play WOW on.  Maybe I will hook it up and see if it can run UWO.  Would be nice to at least make it to a company admin office so i can give the company to one of the members, and give my ships to them.

(Also going to get compressed air, and all that other stuff.  It is a bit dusty in there.)

I had a similar experience to this long ago it was caused by a bad stick of ram if you have more than 1 try removing 1 and reun with the other.

the strangest thing too on other games it worked fine and on some it would restart I also though it was my video card since the 6600GT use to run really hot before

  • GrayGreeneGrayGreene Member Posts: 239

Well, it's been 12 days since I played UWO and had the problem.  I have been playing Rift and a bit of Vanguard since the issue.  My computer has experienced zero problems since this thing first happened, although i do get booted from Rift if im alt tabbing out to do something else online.  (after about 15 minutes or so)

My computer has only beeped after UWO "crashes" and hasn't made any funny sounds since i uninstalled.  I did find that not only was my Mcaffee firewall on, but so was my windows firewall.  Being computer illiterate, still uncertain how that could cause the "crash."  I miss playing UWO, but fairly certain now that it was the update that had to have caused the issue.

  • aika_satoaika_sato Member Posts: 24

I dont know if this would help but they updated Game guard now due to some issues I hope you can play UWO again
