I'm having trouble deciding on how many points to put on the templar soul and how many to leave for the other trees as it is.
Besides, the trees as they are taken into consideration what type of armor/stats you use. They'll need to do a much bigger revamp/unification of the system than you think in order to implement your idea.

Same here. It is a little confusing, but I think the more we play, it will all come together. Mistakes will be made, re-rolls will happen, but eventually, you find your niche.
Well, there is a game like that....it is called Archeage but it is in beta. It is a Korean game and features a sandbox type environment where you can build houses anywhere and have boats and stuff.
Im looking forward to it but for some reason it is not listed here.......
In the meantime, I plan on spending all my free time in Rift!
There were no arch-types and you could pick any three souls you wanted.
For example you could have melee mage and healer souls.
It's a pretty good game but I think this would make it better.
I see where you might want to have that, but there's a bit of QQing on the official forums from some people whom are just completely lost now as it is. There's a reason why WoW makes you put all your points (31 ?) in one tree.
Trion for better or worse made this game for all types of people. Plenty of the more 'hardcore' aspects of the game are really giving some people problems. The easy stuff isn't keeping the hardcore players happy.
When a game attempts to be middle of the road to garner a large audience, there's bound to be many things that people aren't happy with.
I think Trion has done a fantastic job of riding that line.
Level 42 now and the darn game haunts me in my sleep. I haven't felt this way about a MMO in years.

Unless you want another calling, you can always respec. By level 14 you should have all eight souls to choose from and if you do enougy warfronts - you'll have the pvp soul quick too.
You're right though. As you level, you will become more comfortable with a certain build or two.

if this happens, then whats the point on having a mage, a warrior, a scout, etc... i get your point, tho if you should have said Rift would be better without any calling (class) at all, only a bunch of souls you can pick whatever you want... sounds interesting but sometimes too much freedom dont make a game better
edit: i mean too much freedom on certain things only, like the one discussed here...
Would be better for me if I could make an old man or old woman mage. I loved making a old man Loremaster in LOTRO. They also need beards and not just on dwarfs.

Valid point here. And I want to know why there are no children in this game.
Combat needs a tune-up. There is almost NO feedback when using skills, and it makes me feel disconnected from my character. Things need to "pop" more, feels like my character is covered in molasses.

I fully agree. I would definitely play if they did this. The problem is the unique mechanics for each archetype.
The rogues have combo points, and the warriors have that other point system. Somehow they would have to combine those point systems, or get rid of them.
Honestly getting rid of the archetypes would improve the game so much.
I agree, 3 factions and a large END GAME area to fight over.
Not like WAR had, more like DAOC, very big, with keeps and 3 factions is a must!!
also would be nice if they would balance the classes a little bit so every PvP map I went into wasn't just 90% rogues.
I almost had a heart attack in WAR beta when I realized Mythic thought it would be a good idea to make the game nothing like DAOC. BIGGEST....MISTAKE...EVER.. When we screamed bloody murder in Beta, they tried to add the pvp in. At first they were only going to have the stupid scenarios.
DAOC PvP was FUN. WAR was....Hey, lets run to wherever there aren't any enemies and take THAT castle so we don't have to fight anyone. It was kinda lame...and I was a pretty hardcore fan of Mythic.

UI is my only beef with game. I would like to be able to hit a key and all my skill levels come up. I would like to hit one key and currency comes up.
I would redesign Black Garden, but it is not that bi a deal.
I might allow for 4 skills instead of 3.
I would eleminate the "Bard" soul. Not that it is OP, quite the opposite. I kill so many bards in PvP I am starting to pity them.
