Someone said they didn't have to grind in TBC? When I read this I was like @_@? I guess that person did not play TBC. You had to grind a lot. A lot! What's more I chose to grind for me epicz0rz flying taxi and guess what? PRimals, primals... primals..zzz....snap...primals...x100020384234 I still how many hours I spend grinding for that 5k mount and then grinding the Netherwing quests.
Nothing compared to Vanilla of course. Vanilla raiding was for no lifers. You simply can't have a life and see places like Naxx. No way. Vanilla raiding was perfect for the really hardcore crowd which came from older MMOs. They loved WoW. Seeing someone in T3 made you think one thing! AMAGAD T3zorz??? I will never get that! He's soooo l33t! And the legendary sticks? And the res gear? And the pots? 40+ hours in the game, usually much more
Although I will always keep fond memories of Vanilla It was when I started and I loved the game. It was fun just to sit in the chat and joke about how someone got epic item and then you will get all the no lifer jokes you can think of:)
When someone said full epic and everyone waaas super impressed. I mean he was full epiczorz! Do you know how much time and dedication this takes. You might raid for 2-3+ months and not get a single item So hilarious ^_^

You all are talking about raiding as if it were the ONLY part of WoW. If you would go back and read my response in this thread, you would be reminded of many many more things that were part of vanilla WoW that we have now lost. Things which could have been retained and added to rather than stripped from the game. I listed a few things that used to be vital. I'm not going to re-list them here. My original post was at the top of page 5.
As far as WoW being better now? Oh sure, some mechanics are better. They've had a few nice ideas. They've even stolen some ideas from other games that have ended up working out for them, like a guild banking system and guild leveling, both of which bear a strong resemblance, albeit not as good as that, of EQ2. But is WoW better? Over all, I don't think so. The spirit of the game has faded, the community no longer seems as bonded, friendly and helpful, which at least on Lothar and Tanaris server they USED to be. The game has just lost it's lustre, in my opinion.
Oh there was good and bad in Vanilla. The open world PVP, though I wasn't much into it, was rather epic in scale at the time. I remember the raid of Tarren Mill vs Southshore going for days before it'd stop. The dark iron ore grind was the stupidest grind of any I've ever seen on the other hand. I can say I loved my hunter at the time, even after the 1.9 nerf. Epic bow quest was hard, and very epic. Too bad that stuff never to be seen again.
Cataclysm, straight up I quit with the change to the talent tree. I as top DPS in my raid could not spec how I wanted, which was hybrid btw. rawr! I liked my howitzer dmg. slow massive shots. Now I could only spec haste <.< screw machine gun style of play!
The raiding part I agree with the questing part I don't. It hasn't changed that much, in fact I found myself bored to tears in the first zone of Cataclysm. My biggest issue with WoW is the how the classes don't have much individual flavour anymore. It was a blast playing Warlock and Hunter in vanilla Wow, not anymore unfortunately.
If Blizzard had kept the path of the Titans, I probably would have stuck around, instead Cataclysm showed me that my time in Azeroth has come to an end. I don't view this as a bad thing. I'm glad you're still enjoying the game, but I really don't think you're going to convince anyone with your arguments.

Most of your points are correct.

It is all about nostalgia, you can't beat it.

Vanilla WoW was the only good WoW. It's what made the game great and drew alot of people.

No. Nostalgia is me remembering paying Space Invaders on my Atari 2600 and Turtle Bridge and Donkey Kong Nintendo Game & Watches.
Or playing Quake online for the first time in 1996 or playing Ultima Online at a friends house in 1998.
Something that happened only 5-6 years ago does not qualify as nostalgia. When you grow up and get older you will understand what I mean.
