AllisonBerryman News and Announcements -> Pre-Launch Guild Program
Today, we’re excited to announce the launch of the new Guild Headquarters (HQ) as well as the Pre-Launch Guild Program. Many members of the community have already been organizing guilds on the forums, and we’re now happy to provide the tools to officially register and reserve your guild’s name. In this new section of the website, you can search for an existing guild to join or you can create a new guild and begin recruiting members. When Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ launches, you may be able to import your guild directly into the game, subject to availability and meeting certain criteria*.
Every guild gets its own guild mini-site on www.StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com, complete with information about the guild, its recruitment status, and its own public and private forums. Create or join a guild now and you’ll have the opportunity to have your own space to socialize and organize before the game launches. Every guild is automatically entered into the searchable guild database, which makes it easy for players to find their ideal guild. Get your guild together early and get ready for The Old Republic!
To learn more about guilds in The Old Republic, check out the Guilds Game System page for details, and to search for or join a guild, visit the Guild HQ now! Also be sure to visit the Guilds FAQ for answers to commonly asked questions.
*Conditions and restrictions apply. See Guilds FAQ for full details.
To discuss the Pre-Launch Guild Program, please use this thread in the Guild Hall forum. To report bugs, please use this thread in the Website Feedback and Support forum. Please note that some words and phrases, particularly some relating directly to Star Wars, are restricted. If you feel your desired guild name is restricted in error, please contact us using the site support form.

This is awesome imo, the website is very well done and it's so easy to create a guild or even find one. Love this idea!
Nice! Not expected!
This is pretty awesome! This will make it way easier for people to establish their guilds and for others to find their way to a bunch of people they enjoy playing with.
I remember our guild having this in EQ2 as well. We never even had to invest into our own webpage because the official one filled in the needs just fine.
Very nice feature and update that kind of went under the radar though
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!
Yep it's pretty awesome! We still haven't details about the guild system but i think they will talk about it at PAX.
I am gonna start a Empire side guild called Duh! Winning! nah j/k
In Bioware we trust!
I may be a little optimistic here, but this seems to hint of a release date in the very near future instead of six or more months away. Keeping my fingers crossed.
"If half of what you tell me is a lie, how can I believe any of it?"
Seems to be more structured, which is heading in the right direction. Don't know about stating a release is soon.
Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.
Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.
There can of course be a 1000 reasons as to why BW released this feature now. However it seems stupid of them to release it to us if they are not close to release. Just one of those things that doesn't add up to me.
Found an image of the actual guild system itself, heres the link to the page:

Check about half way down the page.

People should note that the two screenshots for the guild system overlayed are seperate guilds, since one shows Republic classes and the other tab showing the information is recruiting Empire classes.
You cannot cross faction guilds.
"How will a server be chosen for my guild?
When we begin placing guilds on servers, we will take into account all the information that has been provided, including the server type and the allies and adversaries you have selected. We will make reasonable efforts to place each guild according to their specified preferences but cannot make any guarantees given the anticipated volume of guilds (among other factors)."
Very interesting, it seems to be an attempt to avoid the queue issues that Aion and RIFT had where guilds piled on to a few servers but caused huge 4+ hour queues.
However it takes away from possible enemy guilds choosing the same server, for example my guild loves to play on any sever opposite faction of goon squad (easy kills vs the zerg).
Remains to be seen how this will play out.
Hmm they allow you to list ally and enemgy guilds in an attempt to keep your enemies and allies on the same server, a fine balancing act of overpop/vs guild desires, well see how they pull this off come launch.
Where is that list? I can't seem to find it

Read the phases. Phase 2 allows you to assign allies and enemies for your guild.
This is pretty awesome. Looking forward to more guild information!
Few questions from a slow person, I was recently accepted into a guild who recruit thorugh their own website then the official website, how will I know when ive been accepted on the official website?
Bit confused on the way the site works, I read that guilds are deployed onto servers matching their description, but how can a guild be deployed when no characters exist until created? Or rather, once you have created a character, how do you know which server the guild is on or how to get into it?
totally agree. If they released it because they know they won't hit the target date for release... well than I see a major shitstorm incoming xD If SWTOR doesn't release before E3 than I probabely won't even play it.
If the guild setup something on the main site you will need to go to the main site, find the guild and apply to it. It won't auto transfer you from some outside site. But incase im miss understanding you and you already applied on the tor site to the guild, then check the guild roster to see if you are listed and you can check your account to see if you are in one under guild application. Thats also where you can choose what class you plan to be, assuming you have already chosen.
here is a link to the faq about Phase 3- Deployment
From what i understand, it will be tied to the guild leaders account and he will activate it once in game. As for knowing which server, Bioware will be sending out emails to all members when Phase 3 begins. And if the guild leader does not log in for 2 weeks after the guild deployment to activate it, another member of your guild will be promoted to guild leader. The first officer to log in will be chosen first, but if no officers log in, the first member to join will be promoted.
