During PAX East last week, Paragon Studios announced that City of Heroes players will have access to worldwide servers beginning later this summer. Devs have posted a handy dandy FAQ about account name "collisions" and how those issues will be solved for players.
3- What will happen if my European account name is the same as someone else's in North America?
We wanted to keep this process as simple and manageable as possible to allow European and North American accounts to access all City of Heroes servers. All European accounts with a name conflicting with a North American account will be prepended with an "EU". For instance, let's take a hypothetical European account called "Cityof". Pre-pended with "EU" would make it "EUCityof". That is the only change to account names in that respect. We determined that this was the lowest number of users that would be affected by this account name change. North American accounts with conflicting names won't be affected by this change.

the graphics is cool but i would like to see more of the story line
@jpcasiple the story is pretty good. lots of action, drama, mystery, dark, twisted, comedy etc. Theres a ton of stories. Every mission involves a story or part to a bigger story. These thousands of stories all tie in to the bigger story of the game
As for the merge, I'm just glad my character's names wont be affected. I have some pretty good names. I guess if the EU people aren't stuck with EU on their names on their own servers its all good. I wouldn't like that myself, I'd much rather just have a name change for my characters.
this is gonna be terrible if the EU people go on the US servers or vice versa all its gonna be is "LOL EU IS BETTER TEA AND CRUMPETS FAT US" then "LOL NO US IS BETTER HOTDOGS AND BURGERS" or something and its just gonna be like WoW where the entire population is 12 year olds yelling fa**ot over mic... just like halo
@hakub2: You can't possibly be comparing the maturity of CoH/V communities with those of WoW, let alone with halo! That's an absurd...
On another note...
What if my toon is called Euphoria (which is in fact)... would it become EUEuphoria? Talk about major weirdness!
From the article:
"Please note that character names will not be affected. We are merely unifying both server lists and as such, all characters will remain on their original server."
Just account names and global 'handles' will be affected.
Wow, I'm so excited about this! I'm gonna be able to play with my German and British friends!!
