Outspark Games has announced that a new "Help Japan" item bundle is being sold in Fiesta Online. The fundraiser will run from now through March 22nd. The Spark Dog is on sale for $5.00 and all proceeds will be donated to relief efforts helping the people of Japan after last week's earthquake and tsunami.
The Spark Dog pet is not available anywhere else in the game, and comes with special HP and SP potions for healing power and a max HP boost item. A $7 value, this special item bundle will be sold at a discount rate of $5, and all proceeds from its sales will go directly to relief efforts in the wake of the Japan earthquake and tsunami. The fundraiser will run from March 15 through March 22, 2011.
“The devastation in Japan is more than anyone can imagine, and we want to help in any possible,” said Philip Yun, COO for Outspark. “The Spark Dog special pet will give our players an easy and fun way to contribute to the relief efforts. We are sincerely humbled by this occurrence and look forward to sending help after one of the most devastating disasters in the region in recent history.”

What really jumped out at me here is "...all proceeds from its sales will go directly to relief efforts in the wake of the Japan earthquake and tsunami." That is a fantastic idea. Kudos to Outspark.
Now imagine what could be accomplished if a certain other developer would jump in with a "charity pet" and donate ALL proceeds to the relief effort.

Proceeds can mean either the profit margin or the full sale price, and in cases like this both of which could be manipulated in a companies favour.
If it's only the profits being put towards a relief fund that $5 item pack will probably only give $0.50 per sale (if that) towards a relief fund. So your $5 you thought you were donating to a great cause actually turns into about 50 cents.
If you want to help something by donating than just go straight to the source with your money.
I'm not saying that is absolitely what I think is going on here, just that sometimes things like this can actually favour the company and not the cause it is supposed to be for, got to be careful who you are giving money to and what for.
Thats all true but if you were gonna spend money in the game anyways its still a great thing.

This is the only game so far that ive seen that is doing something for the relief efforts in Japan. I think SE should of done the same to ff11 and ff14 and applied monthly fees to the relief effort. Instead they shut down due to they need to save energy, which is very understandable because the people need electricty and heat .

There may be others. Just have to look around.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

Wow, this was a nice campaign.. at least the game contributed in their own way for the recent tragendy at Japan.... I was thinking if other games also do this...
Nexon is doing the same, with any purchase off goddess grace stones or any avatar items.
also their actually contributing and donating 100mil yen (Aprox $1.2million)
