lol I just wish people would stop spouting nonsense about the ease of accomplishing grouping and entering dungeons as if its a bad thing.
I dunno, to me that article is just a dude livin in the past.
I remember this, i remember that. Yeah i remember it too and it was real cool, but what im playin right now is real cool too. Change is fine, some people like it more than others. It also depends on when and how it happens.
WoW has only changed for the better over all its years, its had problems and tons of crap to hate on but overall that game has been one truly impressive beast. I absolutely hated that it went insanely "easy mode" for the "hardcore" players so i know what its like to focus on "the game sucks now because its so stupid easy" but what ill never forget is the overall gameplay, graphics, boss fights, story line is just awesome and huge and involving.
I dont wanna play it anymore, and i dont, i loved my month of Cata but that was enough for me after six cool years.
Rift will no doubt go through many more changes too, and who knows if youll like them all.
Rift is a beautiful game but if you read the article again its basically asking you "Do you want to play WoW as if its been patched?" Not me.

Rift is more like current WoW than vanilla WoW so the entire premise of the article makes no sense in the first place. I for one think WoW has gotten worse over the past 2-3 years, the choices they have made have almost universally been bad ones though they have advanced technologically which is a good thing.
If you are happy with the current WoW there isn't a single reason to play Rift, it is a weak copy of WoW. If you are burned out on WoW and just want something different Rift is a great solution though.
Great link. It's easier then that. Blizzard moved all of their good developers to "Titan" leaving their crap ones on their cash cow(WOW). So they are just using the cash flow from the WOW players to fund their new MMO. So why would anyone want to play a game where they don't have their best devs on the team? That means they're not putting all of their effort into a product.
So true. WoW had it's days and now it is time for something new. Only the diehard Wow fans remain which isn't a bad thing but it ain't what it used to be.
I know 2 WoW players who have "too much invested" in WoW to stop playing and try something else.
I know 2 WoW players that played Rift and did not like the fact that rift invasions can interrupt their questing.
I know one person who's account either got hacked or the patch took all their plat in Rift.
The remainder (about 8 people) plus the person who's account got hacked are playing and enjoying Rift. Everyone in this list played or was playing WoW when Rift came out.
Make of that what you will.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
My recent short trip back to WoW (A few days on a freebee) kinda made me sad. Theauthor is right. Azeroth is more or less dead. A wasteland. Not to mentionn they basically destroyed the world I was used to.
I hated barrens chat, but seeing crossroads overgrown and useless seemed somehow wrong.
Normally with a new release I might agree with you even by this point, but right now unless your currently playing rift I'd just have to call you wrong. With its abundance of servers more than half or at least at medium with usually a quarter of them being heavy or full during normal hours with only a handful of servers being light. At peak hours about half are heavy or full and another quarter or more are medium.
How about this? If you're a WoW player and you love wow. You've been playing since vanilla release! You have 3+ level 85s with all epic gear.....good for you. Now, you've probably seen and done it all in WoW more than once. If it were me, I'd be ready for a new game. Rift is your new game. An enitre new world, new class system, familiar gameplay. Just saying WoW got old to me and I only made it to level 43 ^.^; .... It doesn't matter what anyone says, you won't know if you like rift until you try it. That being said, please play passed the first 15 levels before forming an uneducated opinion.

A double tap on this....I tried wow when cata came out. It is quite the wasteland. Inhabited only by npcs EXCEPT for stormwind, where everyone was waiting for their dungeon to pop. Probably the same on the horde side just different city.
Rift was ok, but I don't believe it to be as "original" as they advertised it to be. If you want to make a fantasy, just make a damn fantasy and don't beat around the bush.
The game is solid, though. I'm just burnt out on MMOs until SWTOR comes out.

Sums it up perfectly for me - thanks for the link
Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.
This article is telling the truth.
Hence, my signature image. Nice article.

No bodies putting a gun up to your head saying "play this game, or else". It's peoples money and time, can spend and utilize it how they please.
When did you start playing "old school" MMO's. World Of Warcraft?

Millions and millions of them.
Newsflash: Rift is already done.
Liked the article.

No, I'd say Rift is just getting started.

wow players should stay in wow imho.....with all respect for the game.
I dont want the wow community in rift......i left wow for the rotten community.
