In a speech at Lazard Capital Markets Technology and Media Conference, EA's Chief Financial Officer Eric Brown revealed that Star Wars: The Old Republic would not be published prior to the end of the fiscal year. This information places publication sometime after July 1st.
"So we said it's going to launch sometime in calendar, but not within Fiscal 2011. So that basically pens down between, you know, April 1st and December 31st of this calendar year. It's also reasonable to infer that it's not in our Q1 guidance. We gave Q1 Fiscal 11, Fiscal 12 non-gap revenue guidance, minus 39 minus 44 cents and I think it's not unreasonable to infer that it's not included in that 90 day period," Brown said.

The wait continues! Hopefully it's worth it, especially with the massive amount of money sunk into development. Will be one to watch for sure
Read the announcement, it also said it is not in the first quarter either, so that means not before Oct 1.
My guess is they will aim for the October, November timeframe, but it could still slide until next year.
So much for all those posters predicting it would release earlier.
aye i hope they improve the space battling doesnt look brilliant right now
but the rest of it looks brilliant
i vote no more waiting an you give me my copy now or better yet give me an invite to beta so i can fill me boots
Pretty obvious at this point they were not going to make Spring since we're 1/2 way through March already with now word about release. No big deal. Plenty of good games coming out. DA2, Witcher 2, Crysis 2 (lots of 2s..)
hmm if you consider that many players here only are interested in The Witcher 2... than it becomes quite hard to wait. And how do we fill our MMO needs? There are an INSANE mount of "Floating" players, players that have abandoned MMO's to wait for GW2/SWTOR/TERA/ARCHEAGE etc.
Yeah, if this is true .. then hopefully Archeage or TERA come out before so i can just forget about SWTOR all together.
all they have been doing is hypeing people since 08 just to let them down slowly..
saying they dont know when release is..and then you hear them say OH spring release.. for a few weeks then OH it wont be before july 1st..soo all i can say is Oh why dont you go **** * ****.
For those of you who havnt been waiting as long its not as bad im sure but for those of us who have its starting to really take affect ..
Well Mass Effect 3 is released around that time, why would they go head to head with their very own game?
I will keep playing eq2 until they decide to release this game.
First fiscal quarter is April through to June. So July 1st is correct. I think it's original bump back to September is probably pretty accurate.
No shock with this news, anybody who had some crack-dream that this would go live in May finally have a reality check. I won't be shocked if we are actually looking at a November/December date at the earliest. But September could still happen if they are able to roll-out an open beta by mid-summer.

Well hopefully its polished as hell by then, because a rough launch would sink this thing at that point faster than a rock in water.
Retired: EVE, SWG, STO, EQ2, Ryzom, AO, LotRO, FFXI
Currently Awaiting: SWTOR, TSW, ArcheAge
I'll agree there, they keep pushing the game back but showing flashpoints and other things a conventions that look like a game ready to be released. What exactly are they waiting on, and are they planning to try to pull a DA2 where they try to force their fan base to hype the hell out of their game prelaunch for some extra crap in game. BioWare, for some players, is already on shakey ground post march 8th with the revamping of DA that came with DA2.
Recent announcements of, there is no auto attack, every thing is from skills, have made some mmo fan's who were looking at ToR flinch a bit. There arn't many games without auto attack, but the few that don't have it suffer from very slow combat in the early levels. The worst thing that can happen to this game is it come out with bugs or anything broken at launch, that being said, with their constant promissing it will come out this year in the media they also have to get it out in 2011. Missing their target launch by a year would do a lot to kill this games, and biowares fan base.
No surpise, after talking to the dev's at pax east, I knew spring was out the window, no biggie, that just means I will play the Rift longer, and they have more time to produce a polished product..
Pretty much what I expected. Due to how little game related information is out there and what little we've heard in regards to beta and marketing news/happenings, I figured there was no way this was launching anytime before the end of this summer.
While I'd prefer they get things right, rather than launching something that isn't ready ala every other developer out there; I have to admit this may make for a busy second half of the year with the likes of SWTOR, TERA and possibly Archeage releasing.
Is this really a surprise? If they were going to launch in April/May they would surely have announced a date at PAX East.
I've been waiting on this game a long time, and while my patience has been patchy, I won't get really ticked off about it unless they miss 2011 as a window entirely and go for 2012 instead. Thankfully, no sign of that happening yet.
Managing my own expectations, I've been telling myself (based on nothing at all) that it'll be September. That way, if it comes out earlier I'll be nicely surprised.
Lets see - try to aim, move, twitch - sounds like the FPS arcade/pvp boys have been influencing the game design. I had hoped from the Dev comments that the attack animations will be varied instead of the single swing over and over. I prefer having an auto-attack OPTION for those of us who aren't arcade addicts/experts. Those of us who have slower hand-eye (yes and brain) make up a very large contingent of long lasting paying customers. The space combat is already tunnel shooter arcade, a strong disappointment to some.
Having said that I am still eagerly looking forward to this game. Hopefully there will be some open beta I can play to get used to the UI mechanics and combat style. There are numerous areas of the game I am looking forward to especially the companion/crafting/ship housing. I intend to pre-order one or two box editions and possibly a lifetime (if available and OB works out ok).
I presume the release date is sometime this year but will have a firmer idea when they start Open Beta. I figure 4-6 weeks of OB then release, Hopefully by September at latest but can wait till Dec. However a 2012 release is a downner (my luck the 2012 Mayan Apocalypse will begin before Dec 2012 and I will miss out). Oh well hope for the best (July 1st - yaay!).
I don't mind the wait so long as they get this right.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
In Bioware we trust!
Bummer, but I'd much rather a solid launch than for example another AoC, Vanguard, heck even WoW's launch back in the day wasn't stellar...
Seems like BioWare games are always quality, and I assume that's what the hold up is. Getting it to their standards.
As long as they launch as well as possible, and have a "complete" game then I don't care how long it takes.
ah Bo77ocks
I have my guild now I wanna play the bloody game. I wanna give Bioware MONEY in exchange for thier product
Im gonna hold my breath until I can play
I used to visit this site a lot however in recent years it has become the home of negative forum posts, illogical opinions and tantrums so I visit less often.
Played or Beta'd: UO / DAOC / Horizons / EQ2 / DDO / EVE / Archlord / PirateKingsOnline / Tabula Rasa / LOTRO / AOC / Champions / Darkfall / Mortal Online / DCUO / Rift / STO / SWTOR / TSW
I've been signed up for this game since December 08 and just got into the beta this past week. Trust me. It's worth the wait.
Who cares? The fact of the matter is it WILL come out. It's not like they have set dates and constantly been pushing them back. Some of us have known about this game since 2005, a few more months isn't going to kill anyone. So in the meantime, keep your collective panties out of a knot and play some more World of Gaycraft. Salvation is near.
Lame.
