My gripe with rift is it is crowded with mobs.
The enviroments are beautiful, but I have no time to immerse myself because I am constantly bombarded by mobs.
Right now I am at level 20. Does this ever change?
To the caterpillar it is the end of the world, to the master, it is a butterfly.

It seems that forest and plantation covered zones are more covered than barren and sand/rock zones.
I'm up to 35 and it hasn't changed. This is probably my only negative point for rift. I don't know if there would be a problem with lowering the amount of enemies on main travel routes. Having a ton of mobs at a their own camp in the woods is great but on the main travel routes makes for a long run through the countryside. It doesn't really ruin the game for me or anything but can become annyoing after about the third time I get knocked of my horse.
I have noticed this in some areas. Actually, it makes it challenging. You have to watch out all around you. They sneak up behind you allot
Not reallly. I am level 48 now and it's still pretty dense. I can say that the level 40 mount - you don't get knocked off as easily, but the mobs are a pain. Explore the mountains and such, less mobs to no mobs there. Remember to do other things like gathering/mining/butchering. These things are important to break it up for me. I've gotten frustrated at times with the number of adds.
I'm on the fence about this issue tbh. It's challenging because you have to be aware of your surroundings all the time. The road isn't even safe. But it can be annoying too. The environment definitely makes you feel like it wants to kill you all the time. I found myself porting back to Meridian sometimes if I just want to chill or check AH or something.
The reason why I'm on the fence is Trion's done a masterful job of making the world feel like it's underseiged and the Guardian/Defiant are losing...badly. This will come more into play at end game. Trust me.
