I really just want to find an MMO thats different than the normal Wow clone. I enjoy sandbox features and PvP, but the thing is I want it to be polished and have content. I want it to have something else to do besides killing stuff and crafting, it would also be nice if it had a decent sized community. I also prefer games with modern graphics and controls (for example I don't like Haven and Hearth because of the click style movement and graphics). I also don't mind too much of a grind, but nothing ridiculois like DF.
I guess and example of something I'm looking foward to is ArcheAge, you can be a warrior, farmer, ship/house builder, pirate, and it has alot of inovations. This game won't come out for at least a year so I'm looking for something to fill the void.
Some games that may fit what I'm looking for are Vanguard, Lineage 2, Uncharted Waters Online, so if anyone has played these and can tell me what they think about them that would be great.
Oh and I've played alot of game on the market (MO, Darkfall, Earthrise, AoC, DCUO, PotB, FF14, etc) and none of them kept my interest. I'm currently playing Rift now.

You should probably stick with Rift for now. Nothing on the market that is sandbox will have enough polish and content to satisfy you. Fallen Earth is the closest, but it is a long grind and is still buggy.
Vanguard was almost empty when leveling when I played the trial. Lineage 2 takes more hardcore grinding than Darkfall, from what I heard. I don't know anything about Uncharted Waters.
Give it up! The PC game industry fell apart years ago! Only game your going to get is a game that is built for the console and ported to the PC! Find something more healthy to do!
BTW, you might want to go to the Games List and see how many games have 8.0+ hype levels now! Only 3! The market is dead. The only thing you are going to find that is left is Star Wars The Old Republic and that could be a flop too. That game is the only hope left for the MMO industry. Consoles are more protected and they have a far better sales rate than anything on the PC. I would try and win the game of life because your going to need it when the future of this country slaps us in the face again!
Take a glance at Eve, sounds like it might give you a buzz. You'll be inside a ship warping about and whatnot, instead of your normal legs. I loved it, it was cut-throat and immersive, there was nothing out there that i liked quite as much as Eve. Watch the youtube trailers on CCP's channel about Eve.
But then again we are not clones, so your going to have to find out what you like by yourself. And if you cant find a game that dosn't fit you, chances are its not out. But I want you to think, do you have some kind of tunnel-vision on a perfect game you have to drool over and wont be appeased untill it manifests outside of your imagination. Most people do and cant see it. If there isn't anything out there, take a break, just go do something else, easy peesy bro. Im sure you'll have the urge to play something you picked up or saw after a healthy break and will love it.
I see a lot of peeps get drowned in monotony and hate everything because its not "their game". That lot of people's best help they can get is to just take a break.
If you looking for something different and you like megaman go for dragonica, looks like an ,maple story overhaul http://dragonica.iahgames.com/reignoffrost/index.html
Thanks for the replies.
I've tried Eve before and could never really get into it, never really figured out why. And yes I just tried the Vangaurd trial, it was empty. And yeah lineage 2 seems quite bad. FE was ok I played at launch but lost interest.
I think yall are right thier may not be an MMO which is right for me right now. I think I'll just play Rift casually until SWTOR comes out and see how it is. Other than that thier are always good non-MMO games to play.
I want to try Rift too
Uncharted Waters Online. F2P Non Intrusive cash shop and a sandbox.
Vanguard is the game for you . The endgame is not much but the journey is very good the trial is not what the full game is like you cant judge a trial since you cant leave the starter island. Vanguard has the biggest world in any MMO has alot of quests and its not a easy game depends on your class and etc.
I'll second that

Playing : Uncharted Waters Online

Atlantica Online is different and pretty awesome. It's the only other MMO other than WOW that i've played continuously for over two years now. The pvp is fun and suits casual playing unless you want to be a top contender in Titan tournaments. I'd suggest you try it, since it's f2p assuming you aren't interested in item malls.
have you noticed that recently all the recommendations have been all but same?
it's either the cycle of EvE, Ryzom, Xsyon, DCUO, Rift, H&E, Vanguard, Darkfall
i am not bashing anyone, but i mean, we all know what the answer will be, so we dont need to have so much thread that is pretty much going to have the same outcome
just saying =P
So What Now?
You want something different?
Play FFXI (or FFXIV, which is currently being refined by the developers), EVE, and Guild Wars (or Guild Wars 2, which by the way, is the most anticipated MMORPG currently as of this post).
Don't play Runes of Magic, RIFT, or Allods. Those are all WoW clones.
Rift is a great game. It is basically a more polished (and plaguerized) version of WoW with a few additional uniqueness that make it a clone that is... better than the original. Is it a "different" game? No. It copied most of WoW has to offer and had its version of public quest (like in Warhammer) where an interdimensional rift pops up and deploys evil bunnies.
Runes of Magic is a WoW clone on steroids.
Allods is a Runes of Magic clone, which basically makes it another WoW clone.
EVE online...
lol. What can I say? It's a game where you can be successful by solely taking advantage of other players. There is so much to say about how unique and innovative it is. Sandbox at its very finest.
Guild Wars is the most fun MMORPG ever. Either that or Diablo II. Guild Wars took all the fun, fighting stuff that MMORPGs have and compressed everything in a CD ROM of pure awesomesauce.
If Diablo III comes out, I will probably put my play time on Guild Wars to a halt and play Diablo III instead... but if Guild Wars 2 is around when Diablo III comes out (which will most likely happen), then I don't even know what to play anymore.
I won't be talking about FFXIV because I still consider it as a developing game that should never have been launched this early...
FFXI is unsoloable. That alone is enough to make REAL Massive, Multiplayer, Online Gamers love the game. Soloing is for Sims 3.
There will be TERA, which will be Aion's archnemesis. TERA is a very action-based game that actually makes you feel like you're playing Darkfall, but you have fantastical gear instead of tight leggings and rugs.
All Points Bulletin. GANGSTAH!!!!!
Need I say more?
Intensity beats extensity everytime...
Well though my suggestion does not have great pvp it has everything else including the best community in mmos. If your cosidering Vanguard I would suggest EQ2 as at least to me its a super Vanguard. EQ2 has just endless amonts of content for single or grp play. The housing and guild housing is the best out there aside from SWG of course. The community is nice, helpful, mature, and fun. In EQ2 you will grp mostly group with your guild not like other mmos where you grp with random ppl. Also because of the AA and Mentor system a 90 could grp with a level 10 and both could still get rewarded for it. Like ppl still say today there is nothing like the evercrack its really a feel all its own and for sure not WoW clone.
Ya pc game market is dead which is why 3 games wow, eq2 and rift have more players then all xbox live games combined. Sorry dude this was just silly statement.
Cool I'll look into some of those games. Im currently playing UWO and I'm not a huge fan, the ship combat is kinda bland to me, but I'll keep trying it out.
I did download the trial of Vangaurd and wasn't impressed, but the games only like $10 on steam so I may try it out, same goes for Everquest 2.
Im also trying out craft of gods, doesn't seem to popular but its f2p.
I'll probably just end up balancing around MMO's till TOR, GW2, Tera, or ArcheAge comes out. I may also just have my standards for MMOs to high and nneed to just stick with one.
This is a correct decision
So What Now?
All the mmos i was thinking of were already suggested so all I got is a single player game, but its one of the funnest games ive ever played. Dwarf fortress. theres so much to do in the game its insane, just make sure you download a tileset and find yourself a good tutorial. This is the one I used http://afteractionreporter.com/2009/02/09/the-complete-and-utter-newby-tutorial-for-dwarf-fortress-part-1-wtf/. Try to push past the graphics if you can, its a really deep, complex game underneath all the ugly crap.
Yes I have a dream And its not some MLK dream for equality. I wanna own a decommissioned lighthouse And I wanna live at the top And nobody knows I live there. And theres a button that I can press, and launch that lighthouse into space.
Well I did seem to find a game to play, Star Trek Online. Its nothing like what I described I wanted, but the space battles, exploration, and custimization are fun. I stayed away from the game because I heard it was a flop when it launched but after the demo I think Ill try it. It still has a pretty big community and since its only $5 off amazon if I only play it a month I'll still get my moneys worth.
Have you tried Land of Chaos Online?
