TERA: Atari to Take On North American Distribution

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

En Masse Entertainment has announced that an agreement has been inked with Atari for distribution of TERA in North America. En Masse cites Atari's unique brand recognition and experience with triple "A" title as reasons for choosing the company for TERA's retail distribution.

“When we first played TERA, we could see that it had all the elements of an MMO hit,” said Lee Jacobson, SVP of Licensing and Digital Publishing, Atari. “Our expertise in retail marketing and bringing MMOs to market combined with TERA’s obvious quality makes this a great fit for both companies.”

It's still listed as "2011". Nothing further than that. :)

Way to drive a nail into TERA's coffin being hosted by the worst company in the MMO business.

I want a release date lol i wanna play the game right now:( i dont wanna have to buy rift its soooo boring the pvp is craptasticimage

Yes it does, advertisement in the states etc. Putting a decent product with a shitty label on the box makes people think the game is shitty.

i like the fact that you actually have to hit someone with ur skills u just dont run around spamming buttons..

the fact that Atari is helping dosnt bother me the gameplay looks alot better than the MMO's out today.

release date or inv to beta so i dont have to think about buying rift anymore.

Sorry to say, Atari is the reason for Cryptic being what they are.  You need to do some research on this company, they make SOE look like a bunch of angels.  Ask anyone from Turbine what a bunch of idiots run Atari.

I don't see anything wrong here... Atari has a huge history (I knew that), and now that Infrogames owns it I think it's only a good thing.

I fail to see why Atari is the reason fro Cryptic bing what they are today. Both games they have under their own name now started development BEFORE Atari bought Cryptic...

    besides without SWTOR,Tera,Archeage what would skillfull players do? {mod edit}

Maybe your being sarcastic and I missed it, but you do realize SWTOR and Archeage are TAB targeting style combat games. I plan on playing them both, but they won't require much skill,

EME sucks. If TERA fails it will be because of them, not because of Atari.

Atari to EME... Bend over and spread'em!

  • fledurfledur Member CommonPosts: 77

Sadly this game isnt coming to America anytime soon...it will launch very close to SWTOR, and that to me is a waste and a mistake on En Masse's part. I wanted to play it while waiting for the big releases.

sad day for tera fans man atari is the worst company to be given the reigns to this game they have failed in the console and pc market.

if you want proof on how bad they are just do a search on the test drive unlimited forums on just how well they handle things sorry guysd

Atari didn't buy Tera, you guys are acting like a bunch of idiots. Atari is publishing Tera, which means distributing it and advertising it. En Masse is run by Bluehole Studio the developer for Tera and Atari is doing little more than collecting a check for shipping boxes. Want to know another game they published? Witcher. Yea your argument is invalid.

  • Laughing-manLaughing-man Member RarePosts: 3,655

I seriously can't believe how anyone could be confused as to what a "distributer" does.

    ...

They have no say in ANYTHING with the game TERA AT ALL, they have been PAID to DISTRIBUTE the game, thats it!

    NOTHING MORE!

Zomg!  I can't believe that is confusing to some people in some way.

  • bobfishbobfish Member UncommonPosts: 1,679

This isn't going to affect the game, En Masse is still owned by Blue Hole Studio and that means the developer remains in charge of the product.

  • stayontargetstayontarget Member RarePosts: 6,519

So many people have no idea what a distributer does it seems.   lol

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

ATARI is a really really bad company...

  • CrazerageCrazerage Member Posts: 18

Glad to see Atari publishing and advertising this game. If there's one thing I can say that Atari knows how to do its advertising and Tera really needs it. Tera is going up against two big mmo's GuildWars 2  and Swtor. While I plan to try all 3, I like to see all 3 be a sucess. We need more AAA mmo titles out there that are worth playing.

They couldn't have found a worst publisher.

  • WorstluckWorstluck Member Posts: 1,269

Strange they picked Atari.  Atari has been hemorrhaging money the last few years from my understanding.  I am aware they have nothing to do development, they are still responsible for putting the game "on the shelves" here in the states.  This is such a highly touted MMO by many people, I hope Atari can deliver.

Just because the combat is tab targeting doesn't mean it requires no skill. Just requires a different kind of skill than games like TERA. I would go as far to say the knowledge to learn your class and how to get as much out of it as possible is greater than making sure you are aiming at a person and knowing when to move.
