I thought I read somewhere that they weren't writing a new system or fixing it, they were just reverting back to the old one because the new one was unpopular. Can anyone confirm this?
Much better now, as they say. Some more tweaking and it will be there!
I think you just lost all credibility...
WFT your talking about?? It's exactly as he says, there is only very little delay and I doubt it's even possible to get it much better.
There s no new prediction system, there isn't any progress, just a roll back. and I bet you that people will still get hit from far away...
As kastrix already said, they reverted it back to how it was before a small hotfix. Before that hotfix they had already adjusted it many times and increased refress rate to achieve current state. If you don't belive that it's true, you can go and see for your self now that free trials are out.
At least for me it seemed to work pretty well when I tried it out couple of days ago.
If all they did was revert to an older copy that was working better, that doesn't mean it's an improvement. Jeez.
You really don't think that 0,5 sec delay is an improvement compared to what it used to be when people were hitting you from 10 meters away???
So because 2 guys living in close countries managed to fraps a 1 second delay for a few minutes (which still isn't really good) this means people wont' get hit from 10 meters away?
I think still haven't learned...Don't get excited too quick, at least wait and see before going "omg ! this is so great they fixed it !!"
how many times has SV "fixed" something and ended up breaking it even more?
This duel doesn't impress me that much tbh. The prediction was good enough in this video, but when you show me a large battle with this good prediction, then I might give the game another try.
edit- also, how many months, and they still haven't implemented basic mmo trading tools, and instead trying to implement some "revolutionary" mount system? Another big problem i have with the game.

I think what you are missing is that everytime they "fix:" something related to the prediction system it helps some players and ruins it for others. That is why they originally crapped the system currently in use. It was OK for some people but bad for others.
There is a great discussion on this by veteran players over on the official forums (ongoing discussion all comments are about the current build of the game):

I'm assuming that if they had released a hotfix in the first place then that would suggest there were issues with the system pre-hotfix. In rolling back, those issues will still be there, surely?

There's about a 1 second delay between hits from character to character. Just look at the entries on the chat log.

1 sec seems a bit overestimated even if your looking for chat box. 0,5 sec would be much closer to the truth.

It covers more than the prediction system but I would say it accounts for a big chunk of the commentary.
