Square Enix has announced that it has donated 100 million Japanese Yen to organizations providing relief to victims of last week's tragic earthquake and tsunami that devastated the northern coast of Japan. The amount is equivalent to $1.2 million US dollars. Square Enix also indicated that it is accepting donations from employees.

Square Enix Group (the Group) today announced that, following the Tohoku Pacific Earthquakes and Tsunami, the Group will donate 100 million Japanese yen to help relief and recovery efforts in the affected regions. Additionally, the Group will collect charity donations from employees worldwide for the disaster relief fund.

The Group also plans to host several support programs through select Square Enix online services and the amusement facilities that TAITO operates across Japan.

We send our deepest sympathy and condolences to the victims, and we sincerely pray that those injured will have full and speedy recoveries.

GO SE!! This is why i've always liked Square. I'm sorry i didnt buy FFIV, but i was on the fence for a long time. That is a hell of a lot of money to be donating and taking your servers down to conserve energy(no profits comming in.) My hat off to you and much respect.

Now that's how you donate to a cause, not by pushing more CS sales and giving only a portion of those proceeds towards something.

Nexon is doing the exact same thing. Exact same amount of money as well. Both companies are awesome. (http://vindictus.nexon.net/News/Content.aspx?boardNo=100&contentNo=00BEf)

And NCSoft even give 6.x Mil USD towards Japan. If I could give money I would do it aswell, mainly cause I did it for Indonesia a couple years back.

    Awesome.

NCSoft, SE and I know other developers are contributing to help the cause over there.

    It's definitely heartening.
