coming from aion...
Hey everyone,
I'm a year and a half into Aion, and I've got all the gear I need, but the lack of game content is making this game boring. Rifting is broken, PvPing is broken, and the game is too repetitive, and it's cheesy at times too, but I won't complain anymore about Aion.
I'm seeking an arcade style MMORPG, I've always been into flashy games. Vindictus looks cool, so does C9 - TERA & Blade & Soul look great too. I'm an eye-candy kind of guy. I mean, I like games that have meaning and graphical content, something to captivate me.
Games I'd never play:
RIFT
Guild Wars
WoW
Star Wars
Final Fantasy Series
I've heard these games have an amazing system of PvP and are very balanced, especially RIFT, but it just looks horrible. It's not appealing to me. I like balanced games, with content, tough grinding and challenging story lines, but I can't stand Aion anymore. They don't care about the community, and its mechanics are never going to change. I play on Israphel, and the servers dead, or populated full of zergs on weekends where competitive 1 on 1 PvP is almost impossible.
I'd be happy to provide more information should anyone ever need it if it helps you suggest an MMO...

You see you are going about this all wrong. Right now you're paralyzed by choice, so you need to do something that limits your choices as much as possible while providing the maxium amount of benefit.
I would say the best bet is to find an online multi-game clan/guild. then choose from there active game list.

idk much about Aion, but I was looking for some pvp and i think I might sub to WAR as it may very well be the only PvP intense game aside from Darkfall (I cant play bec my gfx card) / DAoC
What? The only game on your list with balanced PvP is Guildwars.
But Eyecandy: Try out Age of Conan, it looks awesome and at least have some arcade style to it's combat even if it could have had more.
TERA will probably launch pretty soon as well.

I suggest you hold out like lots of people including me and wait for Guild Wars 2, trust me it is the only good mmo coming out, I cant say much for SWTOR but it looks like its going to play like a single player game.
Archeage looks awesome too.
The only problem with AoC is the lack of people and those that are there tell you to not bother with instances and not bother with group quests either as you simply wont get them done. I know thats what i was told and it proved true, after a month i just stopped playing and havent gone back since. There was also an issue with teh DX10 that they were trying to upgrade too which seemed to always freak out my pc (lagg it out completly so as just moving in a circle would take 5 minutes or a plain old crashout). So just ran it in the old DX9 with no problems.
Still, lack of players = boring game for an onliner. oh and btw it is from the European servers, wouldnt know about the US side of things.
