I'am sorta wanting a tank class as a dwarve.. Is there a super OP class like this? I know some builds are pretty OP and unbalanced and i'am looking for one like this As mentioned i'am planning to go as a Guardian/Dwarve and do plan on PvPing later.
Hi, i'm openly admitting that I have no skill whatsoever and I need an OP class to pwn people in PvP.. Even though any OP class will get nerfed eventually, in which case I will be back on these forums looking for a different and current OP class to create the false illusion that i'm good to feel better about myself.
What are you talking about? There is no skil involved in Rift PVP. Just CC, Its all about CC. If you can CC first and most you win!
There are not OP classes in Rift at all..... there are better souls combos.... but all classes have combos that work pretty well.
So there is not OP class or unbalanced at all like you wish.....
Some classes are easier to play than others specially in PvP...like in all games....
If you want tank and some resistance, roll a warrior.... don´t roll a Mage since they are weak in cloth armors as you can imagine....^^
If you like the challenge roll a Mage...fun gameplay but you are going to work for your life^^
Dude, this game has like 20-30 classes and loads of diffrent talents build and ur saying its NOT unbalanced at all? i havent played rift but if this is the case its a World first! Even WoW that has been out for 6-7 years now and only has 10 classes is still unblanced, and about every other game is.
Im sure there are quiet a few FOTM Classes / Builds in Rifts, every game has them, its pretty much IMPOSSIBLE to balance and not have any OP classes / builds.
Ps: Im not bashing rift in any way, i barley tryed the beta and dont care for the game. Just found it abit funny that this game is supposedly all balanced out I might be wrong, but i doubt it.
Rift has 4 classes...each of them can play with 8 diferent Souls.... I say all classes are balanced....not all souls are...
That is a mazing job obviously that has to be done when game is running.... ALL mmos even after 6 years later like wow still balacing tehir classes everyday.... at Rift they just have to balance some souls...not full classes.
I absolutetly love RIFT´s classes...they are totally balanced...every Class can be competitive in any situation just by changing souls (maybe Mages are the ones that need better r-adjust)....but....
What we demand is perfect balance bewteen all classes and souls....a hard job...but i am convinced TRION is going to do a GREAT JOB...they are beenig doing so so far.
PvP is not affected at all at the moment since anyplayer that wants to PvP can do it with every class just adjusting souls....

No your not really wrong but let me tell ya, Rogue classes are pretty sweet for PvP. RIFT is amazing, as an x WoW player I have found a new home. Telara!
And no I don't find RIFT to be anything like WoW like everyone seems to think. Other than the interface. You guys owe it to yourselves to at least try it. Way better than it was in BETA.
On my healing build for my cleric I laugh at rogues. All rogues. I can easily take two rogues at once and be just fine. Rogues are weak.
Only champions and riftblades make me scared. And the only time rogue do jack to me is when a champion or riftblade is around.
You see?? There is not unbalance in classes...just in souls.... rogues are a laugh for you...but a threat on my that i am mage.... Classes work just fine in PvP and PvE...the only problem is that classes like mages just have two souls combos that are viable in PvP...all combos are useless.... I hope they fix that because the great fun of rift is specially the class/soul/combos...... ^^
Rouge - Saboteur.. dont think they fixed it yet but they are doing stupid damage, can basically one finisher most people.
I sabs are screwy. Against many people they are essentially OP. But with my healing spec cleric I can take on two at once. They can't CC and burst you at the same time.
They stun then they didn't do much damage and byu the time the charage up again I am healed back to full.
Champion stuns, snares, disarms and sometimes silences you and kills you while you do nothing. Champion does more damage in 6 seconds than a sab and does it while you are CCd the whole time.
Rift IS lacking in a counter to sabs. But sabs are nothing. Absolutely nothing compared to a champion. Also supposedly paragon first talent is bugged and giving 100% armor penetration. Most nasty champs have 1 point in the bugged talent.
If this is even remotely the case, then PVP in this game is a joke.

Fights after world event bosses can be epic!!!
Depends on your shard and faction. Most of the shards seem to be Defiant heavy, which means late game /endgame invasions and rifts nearly impossibly to participate in, if your not defiant. If your on one of these heavy defiant shards, forget about dropping any invasion bosses or participating in world events, as defiants will outnumber guardian 3 to 1 and you wont get much participation in the event as you will be spawn camped thoughout it. Again this only becomes an issue later on in the game when your on shared maps.
The OP classes in pvp are rogue, which is only outdone by warriors in OPness. Sure a fantastic player can do decent as a mage or cleric, however they will only do decent against a terribly played warrior or rogue. Both rogues and warriors can stun lock you the duration of your life, their CC's outnumber your CC breaks. And warriors can live though any CC's you throw at them.
A great player will be nearly unstoppible as a warrior, a huge threat as a rogue, competative as a cleric, and lucky to do well as a mage.
In fact, the early mid game of the rift shards ive played on, are quite rogue/warrior heavy, and warfronts have become more or less warrior/rogue events, with a few showing from other classes. I speak of early/mid game because its full of people rerolling the good classes.
This doesnt mean a mage or cleric cant do well, just that a great player will not shine as one, more so for mages than clerics however.
Give it a few months and the games going to be nothing but active endgame rogues and warriors, given how densly populated early and midgame rerolls are of the two classes. So far all of Trions attempts to balance classes have been aimed at nerfing mages, aside from a slight prelaunch nerf on warriors, which didnt have much effect on them remaining seriously OP in pvp.
Mind you warriors have many CC's, very high DPS, even ranged magic DPS that is spammible, a soul devoted to facerolling casters, high survivability and high amounts of HP. The only class that can out DPS a properly geared and specced warrior is a rogue, who also has lots of CC for some reason, though they do lack the survivability of warriors.
The current state of affairs proves that the pre-launch Mage nerfs were counter-productive for the game. Instead of "Glass Cannons", they are Glass Pea Shooters.
The game seriously needs diminishing returns on CC and I just can't fathom how they didn't realize this early on in development.
The game is far from a lost cause as far as PvP balance goes. It's easy to see how some key changes could restore much of the balance, with out nerfing the hell out of anyone. Hopefully Trion will start addressing this soon!

That would be Rogue and Warrior. Both are super OP in PVP, and are super CC.
Rift PVP unlike other MMO's. in Rift PVP is all about CC. Who ever CC's first/and most wins. There is no CC immunity either. So you can be chain CCed. and you will be.
Also Every class in Rift can self heal so No need for healers in it.
No need for healers? First of all not every single soul can self heal. And most of the ones who can self heal it isn't enough to survive without a healer. Have you played a Warfront where the only clerics in it are DPS? Nobody lasts that long. Healers, and more good healers actually, are needed.
"God, please help us sinful children of Ivalice.."
Man.. I'am addicted to The Black Garden lol.. I've leveled like 5 lvl's in that warfront! It's so simple yet so addicting.. It's cool too because as a champion i'am rushing straight into battle and as long as i got a bard healing me i can take out several players.. It's amazingly fun being OP..
Lol it's something i always do in MMO's.. Go for the most OP class at launch and take advantage of the unbalance.. Then wait a few months till the nerf hammer kills em and move on to a new char.. It was great playing a cleric in AION, no other class could touch us! Having flash backs now with rift..
This game seems like its improved so much since beta.. I'am lovin it.. Hopein that the fun can last
Currently Playing: Rift + Starcraft II + Gears Of War 3 Beta
According to the Rift Forums, rogues (sabo) are overpowered, mages (GoP, archon) are overpowered, warriors (titan) are overpowered and clerics are overpowered (heals)...

Thank you for posting that.
For everyone reading this thread that has either not played Rift, or not done very much PvP. Please, please,
take what is being said here with a mountain of salt.
There's a lot of opinions being expressed here and none of them are 100% what you will experience in PvP. I will say what I said earlier in this thread, play what you like because at level 50 all classes do the job they are designed for well. The road to 50 can have it's ups and downs, but at level 19 you can steamroll lower level players in Warfronts with just about any DPS soul, regardless of the class.
Mages do just fine in PvP, as I play a mage on my main and switch between Chloro, Storm, and Necro as my main depending on the situation. I am generally at the top of the damage done board when playing Storm, near the top of the healing board when playing Chloro, and pretty much never die if I'm playing Necro, only if I get focus fired by 3 or more people.
The only base class I would say is even close to being OP would be Clerics, and that's only because their survivability is insane. You won't do much damage as a healing Cleric, but they are necessary for every PvP encounter. If everything else is even the team with a healer instead of another DPS class will win. In fact, even most times when you are either out numbered or out leveled if you have a healing Cleric and they don't, you will probably win.
"There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer."

That about covers it.
Umm...no.
Sabos do crazy combo finisher damage, and can easily "one shot" people early in the game. They are a rogue, and they are squishy, so its not all that OP, although fustrating.
Im still LOL'ing at you mages op skills. GoS (Ground of Strength) you literally have to park in a tiny area for it to work. It CAN stun for 2 seconds, and it reduces incomming damage by 30 (your a mage in cloth with low HP) Your resistant to CC in it.
Its not OP, you just run out of range and the mage just stands there...not doing anything.
Archon OP? Are you insane? Its the buff soul......
Now pyromancer builds CAN do well in pvp, a great mage will do decent in pvp as one, however a pyromancer, or any other mage build cannot compete in single target, sustained, DPS, even a celric can out DPS them.
All halfway decent endgame raiding guilds allow mages into one of two raid slots only, chloromancer secondary heals and full archon buffer. No DPS for you as a mage.
SHouldnt the "Cant DPS" class be the one with the most survivability? No the least....
The sarcasm was lost on you then. I said According to the Rift Forums
Browse the official forums and just look at the barrage of "(insert class here) is OP. NERF!" posts
I'm not making the whine posts, I am making a comment on how it seems everyone who is killed in PvP goes on to say that the class that killed them is overpowered.
Since that went over like a lead ballon, i'll try this a different way:
The game is complex, many people will find a build combo that does a role (DPS, tank, CC) well and people will play that Flavor of the Month. Eventually someone will counter it and everyone will flock to the new FotM. Play what you like.
Sorry to get your panties all wadded up, next time I will end my post with
Champion soul, and that's coming from a Assassin/Saboteur/Bladedancer and a Necro/Warlock/CHloro...
If you pair a Champ soul with a def soul and stack resistances, no single enemy in the world will be able to bring you down before you tear them to pieces. The classes that can bring the spike damage (like Pyro) to nuke you away lack the CC and survivability to stand a chance, even with heavy dominator-influx. And you'll outlast any regular DPS classes.
Which is BTW the story of so many MMORPGs, offtanks being strong to OP. Warhammer Chosen, WoW Fury warrior TBC, Conqueror AoC, you name it. Developers need to develop a tank, but need people to play it, so they add a little damage, just a little (which in 99% of the cases, is too much).
