YEAH! More grind! I'm almost through T1 and now I find out T2 is going to be slower.
I doubt the intent of the content was to make it last for one week then you goto raids. Pretty sure they have a timeline and traced it back to this and also tuning on Greenscale.
Everyone has noticed the speed guilds blasted the content and this is a primary reason.
It was not normal anyway for T1 to give 2 coins and T2 to give 15. A definite oversight.
EQ '99 -- in case you want to know what a real grind is little boy.
So much for being "polished".
This is not my only post. Please read the rest of this thread before commenting on this attention grabbing post.
Lol you obviously don't read other MMOs patch notes. They have had phenomenally little to patch since launch.
Just look at other games, even lately I belive WOW had a bug where a class that is supposed to be able to Dual Wield, could not learn the skill!!!
And thats 6+ years in???

Polished -verb (used with object)
to render finished
So, explain to me again how this game is polished (finished) when they are having to:
A. Circumvent hackers who have already gained access to their servers
B. Create "fixes" for "content oversights".
Interesting you compareRift to World of Warcraft, as if somehow comparing the two absolves Trion of their claim of Rift being "Polished".
The game has been out for nearly 3 weeks now, and there have been at least 8 published hotfixes. That is a far cry from a "finished" product.
Which is why Trion's claim of "polished" is laughable. Now, if they had made the claim of "most polished", or "more polished than" then it would be more understandable.
Not so though bro. Trion made the claim that Rift would be "unlike any other MMORPG", in that it would be "polished".
It also doesn't take a genius to realize that when a company says their game will be unlike any MMORPG, and that it's the "Next Generation of MMORPGs", that they are claiming just that. Letting Trion off the hook for their lofty claims of exceptionalism, simply because others in that genre are of a lower standard is asinine.
If you don't want to hold Trion to their claims, then so be it.
Polished is a past tense verb, that was used by Trion in the context of "Finished". You can't even say it's polished in any other sense, because they are still "polishing it" with each subsequent "hotfix".
This doesn't even go into the security vulnerabilities of their servers that allowed thousands of clients to be hacked, and lose a week of game time.

To state the server technology is next-gen is laughable. Trion was stuck scratching their heads trying to figure out why their servers were vulnerable, when a user pointed out the blatant vulnerability in their authentication code. Of course, this blatant vulnerability was then dubbed, in a terribly typed memo, as a "subtle vulnerability". The user who found the vulnerability was significantly downplayed, and given the amazing credit of providing an "assist" in the discovery of the vulnerability.
This doesn't even go into the fact that the server, and game technology is an exact copy of the Gamebryo Game Engine. On that link I provided, you will find the list of games that utilize this game engine, including Rift, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (2002), and Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (2008).
That's right, Trion's "Next Gen Game Engine" is almost 9 years old, and is the the less costly DX9 version at that.
Next Gen is an over used term about as realistic MMO wise as words and phrases like 'WoW Clone', 'fail', 'polish', 'iconic', 'WoW killer'.
These terms are thrown around with hardly any appeciaton of what they actually mean and so they are often not appropiate.
I have 7 posts, and they are all hating on one game! Nice over 3 year old account.
Did a Rift come down and steal your woman, or kill your dog?!
The english nazi has to be pissed he didn't think of being the tense nazi!
Apparently you fail to appreciate lurking.
I find it amusing how many people get emotional once an unbiased, critical review of their favored game is made. It's as though any revelation of fact made, that is counter to their apriori conclusion is a slap in their face, rather than the design team that made such silly claims in the first place.
To claim a game based on a nearly decade old engine is a "polished next gen game", is a shameless marketing ploy to garner more supporters than would be received on merit alone.
I am sure there are countless players out there who realize that playing Rift, looks, feels, and flows like Warhammer Online, only without crappy castle and siege design. This doesn't take away from the fact that many of them like the new storyline and quest lines Rift offers, or the new class concepts.
In all honesty I would rank Rift as yet another MMORPG to hit the markets, hardly worthy of any lofty titles like "polished", "next gen", or "exceptional".
So by your definition, all MMOs are failed products and havent lived up the the promises of the company that made them. And since we have to use your opinion what polished means, im asking for compensation(money) to have to think on a level lower then my standard. If i can log into a game without it crashing, having game play issues, or having to reboot the game because of memory leakes, then that is polished. crafting works, the rifts work, end game raids are working, the 1st dragon is working. hmm, i do think that qualifies as polished.
From what I read, you havent given a critical review of anything. you came to this game forum to pick a fight which is against this forums RoC. Flaming, trolling, game hating arent allowed.
거북이는 목을 내밀 때 안 움직입니다
There are so many levels of "ignorance" in this statement I dont even know where to begin. I am not "attacking" you for having an opinion this is not an opinion, this statement is like coming to these forums and saying 2 + 2 no longer equals four because the batteries died in my calculator. Better yet we all troll from time to time so I recant my earlier statement and will just give ya a high five laughing with you not at you.
Gamebyro engine is tool it is very open and it can heavily modified also you cannot compared the gamebyro engine of WAR with Rift they are different versions. Mythic used earlier variant from DAoC, its like saying Tera will suck because it uses same engine as Lineage .
As saying goes every network has a security hole you just have to poke it correctly to find it, take a look at Flash multi billion dollar platform still has security issues.
Talk about amusing... Some peoples idea of "unbiased" leaves much to be desired... ^^ EVERYONE has an agenda. I do, you obviously do, everyone does. That being the case, shall we dispense with the pretense? I've given up the endless chase for the One True Game(tm). All I'm interested in now is an entertaining game, that I enjoy. The fact that its well polished(compared to many of the recent launches) is a plus. Rift fits that rather well. As for what its based upon, who cares, as long as its entertaining? If you don't find it so, then by all means go play something else.
Interesting you draw such a conclusion from my statements, seeing as I not once called Rift, or any other MMORPG a failure.
The point I drove home is that Rift did not live up to the hype it's creators generated. Their server security was, and arguably still is, sub par. Trion's security team had no idea how their servers were being compromised until a user pointed out a blatant authentication vulnerability to them.
How would you feel if you were to log onto your decked out raiding character, only to find him/her naked, and without game currency? This would undoubtedly make you mad. Then imagine you call Trion to get your stuff back, and they say, "we can get your stuff back to you".
One week later... you still don't have your stuff, and call to find out what is going on. Once you call Trion, they tell you it will take a few more days to get your gear back to you, but any changes you made on your account since you were hacked, would be reversed.
That's right, if you had buddies craft you stuff, and you just kept playing, all that game time would be wiped out.
This is exactly what happened to over 1% of Rift's gaming community when their servers were compromised on the 4th of March. There are players who still have not received their items nearly 3 weeks later.
Game hating? Are you even reading my posts completely? In at least one of my posts, I distinctly recall addressing players who enjoy the game Rift offers.
Flaming? Cite an example of me "flaming" another user.
Trolling? It appears to me that this term has evolved from "one who baits others into anger for personal satisfaction" to "someone who says something that is completely at odds with my own axioms".

Deal
This is either extreme ignorance, or trolling.
Compared to any MMO release in well, ever, Rift's release was extremely smooth and the game is still very polished despite it's otherwise mostly minor issues. Of the more 'major' issues, Trion has been extremely quick in responding to and fixing them.
The next most "polished" MMO was WoW. WoWs release was significantly more buggy, unstable, and generally riddled with balance issues than Rift has right now. Not only that, but of the issues that have come up, Trion has been ridiculously more agile in responding to and correcting those issues that have popped up.
At release WoW had terrible PvP balance issues, and didn't even have any PvP infrastructure at release past the generic flagging system. WoW's endgame was (and still is) a gear grind, and in fact WoW's first raid was extremely buggy and unfinished at release.
Everything people are griping about concerning Rift right now, WoW had pretty much the same issues when it was released... only much worse.
Read the rest of my posts before replying further.
Thank you.
I have, you're still wrong.
Rift has by no means had a perfect release. But then again, no MMO has. In fact, Rift's release has still been one of the smoothest releases in the most complete state compared to any other MMO, even despite the issues that have cropped up.
Yes there have been a couple more major issues, but Trion has been extremely responsive in combating and correcting them. Much more so than even Blizzard has done in the past.
Rift is still a far more polished and complete game right now, than WoW was six months after release.
Also, I already explain why making a comparison between Rift, and other MMORPGs does not absolve Trion of their claims. One cannot claim exceptionalism, and then fall back onto a bell curve grading system.
It was smooth release because they did not have server crashes (WoW) or massive client side DCs/LAG (WAR).
Then how do you rate or grade anything if, according to you, you are not able to 'claim exceptionalism' and then use comparison against previous products to gague quality?
Sorry, but your logic is flawed. It's obvious that you have some bone to pick with Trion and/or Rift. Feel free to hate on Rift all you want, just do us all a favor and stop trolling the Rift section of the forums. Despite your opinions, Rift is still a pretty damn solid MMO, particularly for it's state of polish and features at release.
