I run rift on an E8400 core 2 duo 3ghz cpu, 3 gigs of ram (wish I had 4) , and a 5770 1gb card, on medium settings.   Ive had no issues with my card being an amd one in reguards to this game.. or any other for that matter.

Theres even an option in the settings for a "low quality render" or something (forgot exactly what its called)  if you need to be a little more cautious.

Thats excellent.  I'm hoping I can get by for a month or so before I upgrade my video card.  Medium settings is fine enough for me.  I hear the game looks incredible. :)

I think I almost the same stuff, except I am running with a nVidia 250gts on Ultra without a problem.  Loving it!

Was in a place last night that I had to get my fiance and say... the artists had a fun time making that look creepy... LOL

Wouldn't mind knowing resolutions if people are saying they're running it at X using Y.

Can easily say running at ultra but be on 640x480.

    During Beta

    1440x900 windowed mode
    AMD quad core 2.20
    Tyan Server Motherboard
    4 gigs of ram
    8800 GTS 512(Updating to GTX 470 soon)

Played the game fine topped out. Minus filtering to make it super smoooooth. But eh, I don't really base gameplay and enjoyment of an entire game around PRETTY DX 9000 graphixs. Long story short, should be able to play the game fine.

When did you start playing "old school" MMO's. World Of Warcraft?

You can run the game on medium on a 3 year old dual core GT9000 series machine! And I bet you know that full well. So seriously, why the f*** d'you even ask with a rig that's clearly not older than a few months.

The game looks okish on any machine, a lot of GFX bling (postprocessing, high quality lighting, high quality AA); It's still far from AoCs or LotROs quality; which is essentially a design flaw (no real villages, semi realistic/ semi aionesque architecture, rivers don't flow, environment vegetation and ground 'logic' feels 'random'), the engine pumps out what any game nowadays supports with the necessary hardware (soft shadows, AA, high poly models, etc)....

I asked mainly because I had read on numerous sites, and forums that AMD/ATI components have had issues running Rift.  I think I stated that.  Yes my computer isn't that old, but it's not a beast either.  Also, I hadn't heard that you could run the game on 3 y/o computers with no problems on medium.

My pc is very old, I have a core2duo @ 2,6 with 6gb ram ddr2 and a GTX 260 and I run the game in high with an avergae of 30 to 40 fps, so you can get it even higher than me...

playing on i3 OC at 3.2ghz and HD 4890 on ultra settings ( just AA off ) 4gb ram, and can raid with 30 fps no probs.

The X6 is the current end-segment multi-core AMD CPU line and the 5770 is a mid-segment, up to date GFX card, the components you listed are still on the market and somewhere around 600-800 bucks as part of a complete system.

Even if the game has compability problems with AMD/Ati you can expect an up to date mid-range gaming system to run a game like Rift (MMORPG, graphic excellence no commercial hookline) with no problems.

As I said before, people with age-old single or dual cores and 256 meg GFX-toasters are entitled to ask these questions imo.

    Don't make me elaborate more.
