I've been wondering if I should get this game. If anybody has any advice, please post it on here. Tell me the good things and bad things about it too if you could. Thank you!
Positive: Fast, fun combat VERY deep crafting Star Wars setting
Negative: Slow leveling (though I've played FAR worse) Some servers not as friendly as others
I've been on Starsider for almost a week and have found the community to be so-so...at least on Tattooine. I haven't been other places yet. I'm having fun, though.
Almost infinite ways to make your toon unique (look, clothing, equipment, skills, professions) .. AND you can change it totally if your mood takes you.
Con:
SOE is not exactly the most player friendly, communicative MMORPG corp out there.
SWG works best if you are on the right server with the right guild ... and to find that just ask here on this forum.

Unfortunately, that's not one of the servers I've run any characters on, so I can't really say what the state of their community and economy happens to be at this time. If your friend is still there, you should shoot him an email to ask him. Let us know either way, good or bad. If it's a healthy server still, people should be informed so they have another good option to choose when deciding where to go to try out the game. ^^ If it's messed up like my old primary server, then again, people should know so that they're not surprised by whatever happens to be ailing on the server.

Hmm I'd argue that its:
PROS:
Fast Fun Combat
Very deep crafting
Star Wars Setting
Fast Levelling (Where on earth you get the idea that it's slow is beyond me)
Immersive universe
Infinite possibilities
Incredible Role-Playing community as the game lends itself to roleplaying better than any other out there.
Has both Spaceflight combat and ground combat
CONS:
SOE does sometimes have communications issues.
Occasionally patches seem untested or unproven before implementation (true of any MMO though)
Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online. Sig image Pending Still in: A couple Betas
Combat: Master Bounty Hunter hybrids are where all the cool kids are at. Crafting: I really enjoyed Weaponsmith. Entertainer: Musician. Seeing men dance gives me horrible flash backs of Michael Flatley. Medic: both professions, combat med and doc, were a lot fun.
One of the best elements to SWG is that you can mix and match professions. You could be a Master Bounty Hunter/Master Chef.
Ico Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.
No corpse runs. You clone in a cloning station and you get your items from the insurance terminal (insurance cost is not high for the average player .. and newbies have an exemption rule).

Mmmmm yummy zabraks... *drool*
The planet you start on isn't so important as the galaxy (server) you start on. Check some of the other threads that deal with server population to get a feel for where you want to begin.
Planet ... Naboo looks best, Tatooine may be a BIT easier for a newbie.
Server ... may I invite you to Naritus (where you can reach me with in game mail as Novarider or Delos) so I and some of the other posters here can help you get started.
Cool, I'll try to remember to go on naritus. Now, I only get on about once or twice a month. What time are you usually on swg? I want to know so that I can plan a time when I should get on.
I am playing at European times (being Austrian) .. usually 7 p.m. GMT to 11 P.M. GMT .. about once every second day. Longer on weekends.
You could also contact azhrarn (Noobia in game) or Fadeus (Marguul in game) ... both posters here on this forum, also playing on Naritus and playing at US times.
But you can always write me a mail in game and when I know your in game toon I can add his/her name to my friend list and always know when you are online.
If you want to play Imperial, I recommend a male human.
Wookiees .. now that they have their own (good looking) armor they are an excellent race, especially for combat or dancers (Trust me, Phat Wookiees have their own sex appeal, kinda like Aretha Franklin dancing :-) If you want to be imperial, you can be, but expect to pay MUCH more for faction equipment. For rebels its a perfect choice.
It's $14.95 a month, but I think that It's better to get a game card. Game Cards are anywhere from $25 to $30, but game cards give you two months. They only come in two month subscriptions.
I don't think that you all of your characters have to be on the same server. & i think that you can have around twenty characters. But I haven't heard of anyone yet that has twenty people on their account,Most have 4 or 5 @the most. As far as i know, lol........

If you want to be an imperial, human would be best. If things haven't changed, non-humans are charged more for imperial faction perks.
