Reason why im asking if it is a game i should buy, is because it seems like an awesome game, but i've been looking at forums like this one etc. and there seems to be quite a lot of negative threads about the game

But it still seems like a good game, and it is sharing a 1st place in Hype with GW2 (8,71 atm) so i would like to hear what people think of it. Should i buy it?

Get your own opinions out there, pros/cons of the game, compare it to other games, i don't care, i just want to hear what you think of it.

All the negative posts are from people who havent played or are just trolling. Everyone else is playing RIFT and have no time to post on forums. RIFT is the best MMO that has came out in a long time!

Since your the one putting out the money for the game, I wouldn't be asking others if you should buy it.  Only you know what you like and dislike about games.

If a friend doesn't have it so you can check it out first hand, wait until they have a trial and check it out then.  I wouldn't look to this site or any other for the answers.

For me, the game was great for PVE and PVP was aweful.

    Good luck with your decision.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

Thanks for all the quick responses.

I'm pretty sure that i'm buying RIft soon, but imma start playing with around 6-7 other mates, who got roughly the same experiences with MMO (mostly from wow aswell).

How is the cooperating aspect of the game, like forming groups for dungeons, joining warfronts (battlegrounds??), what are the opportunities for a group of friends to do.

The ease of grouping seems to be one of the strong parts of the game.

In warfronts you can join solo or as a group.  You're going to have to form a group before joining the queue if you want to be sure to get in with your friends.

Rifts there is a "join public group" option that gets everyone together pretty well.  The drawback there is you usually lose your original group to this effect and have to reform when rifts events end.

Dungeons is just like any other group, considering you're going in knowing who you're playing with.  Form before entering and you're good!

Also, open world PVP gank runs are fun with friends if you happen to roll a PvP server.

I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

There was a poll a few days ago about current games that are out and 45% of the people who answered said they couldn't see themselves playing any games that were out there. There's a whole lot of people who like nothing, much less Rift on these forums.

My experience is that I'm having fun. It's similar enough to WoW that there was very little ramp up time to just playing.

The combat at early levels is pretty much identical to WoW and mmorpg combat in general. It expands out a little bit at later levels. It's still very similar, but has some added depth.

The class/soul system is great. The number of choices you have and the number of choices that work is astounding. You can spend a good bit of time just experimenting with different builds and play styles. I've never been too happy tanking, but my Cleric's default build is now the tank build instead of the dps build. Each class can fill several different roles and switching between them is painless. You can switch roles any time you're out of combat. My Cleric can be a Tank, Healer, Melee DPS or Ranged/Caster DPS or some combination of those for a hybrid class. Right now I'm having fun with a tanking build.

PvP is fun so far, but I've heard that at level 40 it becomes all Warriors and Healers. Nothing else is really viable. If you're a Mage, Rogue or Cleric you better be healing because that's the only way the Warriors on your team will protect you from the Warriors on the other team. This could just be a case of people not figuring out all the available options, especially since the game is fairly new. I'm not sure.

Rifts are another feature that are a lot of fun. They sound kind of bland on paper (monsters spew out of the rift and send invasions to attack stuff) but in practice it increases the amount of available content in an area and makes the whole process of leveling feel much more dynamic and "live". If you don't like your questing being interrupted then you may not like this. You get good experience for rifts and invasions so I've found it to be a good alternative to questing. You also earn Planarite and Tokens that you can use to buy gear and other upgrades for your character. This gear is pretty nice and is comparable to the PvP gear you can buy. The instance gear is probably better, but I think while you're leveling you get different pieces of gear from different locations. Like instances would give you weapons from level 20 to 30, while Rift rewards would give you chest pieces from 15 to 25, and so on.

Quests are standard mmorpg quests. There isn't literally a 'Kill 10 Rats' quest but there probably should be for completeness. In addition to standard quests there are Story Line quests (they have a different background so you know that they are story line quests). These quests do not usually have map help so you have to explore around a little bit or read online to find out how to finish the quests. The one I did yesterday had a little scene acted out by two lovers (one dead) in a spot 2 zones away from where I picked up the original quest chain. There are also daily quests sprinkled around that you can complete while you're in a particular area. One of the daily quests in every zone is a 'Kill 15 Rift Monsters In This Zone' which you'll be doing anyway, so it's like free XP.

The crafting is very similar to WoW. It is a little deeper, but that's like saying a big mud puddle is deeper than a small mud puddle. It's worth doing while you're leveling as the gear is comparable to quest greens. Runecrafters and Apothecaries will probably make money. Right now I'm just doing the gathering professions to collect the supplies and I'll either leveling a crafting profession later or I'll just sell everything I've collected for the money.

You can also collect Artifacts and build collections out of them. You trade in the collections for rewards from the collection vendor. You can get vanity pets and maybe some other stuff, I'm not sure. I haven't collected enough stuff to even get one pet yet. There appear to be hundreds of collections and thousands of artifacts to find.

The End Game is standard gear progression through instances and raids. There is no end game PvP beyond world PvP on PvP servers and instanced war fronts (like WoW battlegrounds). If you're into end game raiding, there is anywhere from several weeks to several months of content to work your way through depending on your tolerance for that type of game play. They do have outdoor raids and 5 mans in addition to the instanced raids and 5 mans. It adds an element of competition with the opposing faction when you're trying to complete the outdoor events.

If you are expecting a Sandbox or RvR, then you will be disappointed. The game is a Theme Park style game. There is also no RvR PvP. The RvR might get added but right now it doesn't exist. I'm hoping they add some sort of RvR before I get to max level. :-)

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
