It do sound like a good idea. But is this already in the game?
Because there are a few people here who got hacked already, or is this Trions solution to that problem?
yeah not full proof at all, but easily any game in existence can use this and it is free. Only way to get hacked now is if they make it through your e-mail security too.
If I were Trion I would turn around copy right it and then go sell it to ever F2P mmo on the market.
Thoughts on the feature? It seems like a good idea.
hmm my thoughts on it at the present after 3 days of it is that it needs alot of improvement and it's annoying me already, but having said the feature is working as intended. The reason for the need for improvement is quite simple, they state that if your account is logged in from a very different geographical area then your account gets coin locked. At the moment my account is coin locked all the time as i unplug my router when i've finished with it, meaning my ip changes all the time, meaning whenever i log on, account is coin locked... hence being annoyed all the time
They need to refine the system to not be as sensitive if possible but all in all it's an extra layer of security which is most welcomed.

Well, the vast majority of users don't unplug their router after playing. The feature IS actually working as intended, you're just doing something that you know full well will cause your account to be coin locked. I suppose they could add a level of security similar to what windows does, but you'd be doing that at your own risk. Plus, what's the point of coin lock if you're going to minimalize the security given to you?

I actually said in my post that it is working as intended if you care to re-read it.
If people want to leave their router plugged in 24/7 and run the risk of people hacking there router then that's upto them, personally i prefer being on the cautious side and unplugging when i have no need to use it to reduce this occurance. I'm pretty certain i'm not the only person in the world that unplugs there router when they've finished using it :P They just need to refine the system is all i'm saying.

Yeah, you probably aren't the only one. But I assure you you are part of a very, very tiny few group that does it. I'd dare say there are ten times as many folks (or certainly greater) that have never taken this course of action since the invention of broadband that have never been hacked.
Seeing how Broadband was meant as an "always on" connection it seems like that would cause more issues (and calls to your ISP to restore connection) than anything.
That said, I'm not trying to tell you how to run your setup at all. Just making an observation.
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."

No it's fine, i fully understand and appreciate everything you wrote, unlike the wording the other poster used.

You guys are about 2 weeks late on this =P
The feature was implemented last weekend, and it is a very good idea. I certainly like it.

I'd rather coin lock be overly sensitive.
Although I can imagine the next spam e-mails asking for your e-mail and password instead of just your account info. Some idiot will fall for that.

A software authenticator is in the works too and should be available shortly.
This would be very nice. Link availble for the announcement? I can't find it on the Trion Website.
I assume its from this?
