i think that people who say the lvling is boring are playing the wrong kinda games.....hehe lol.
Seriously is think that if i would be lvling for 4hours straight EVERY single evening i would also get bored of lvling too.
So it all depends on the person i guess......i can play for hours without ever getting bored but i dont just lvl...i explore, craft, chat with people from the community or i just quest......i do as i feel so gaming never is a "JOB" to me.
I am just playing and enjoying myself......and once in a while i ding hehe

Yeah... I do different things too... In Rift you can do quests, warfronts and rifts and invasions.... I think there is many choices...

I think both wow and rifts are boring to lvl characters.. but they are not my type of game.
I am not saying they suck just not what i like...
So people usually posting stuff like that are just ot into the game
All quest systems can get boring, you tend to notice it the more you have played MMO's. I can't see how WoW's are better, Rift quests are to a good standard of quality. I have seen better in Lotro, but then I rank that game as best MMO for quests,
I loved leveling in WoW before the latest expansion and adding waypoints on the map etc, basically before they dumbed the entire process down. The latest expansion broke everything into little 5 quest chunks and ruined the experience. Unfortunately Rift copied the expansion leveling and then made the quests even less inspired than WoWs so yeah I can see why someone would complain about it being boring.
As for the quests themselves, Rift is noticeably weaker than most games in this area, the quests are exceptionally uninspired with something like 90% of them just being go here and kill X and almost none of them having any real interaction involved. WoW got almost too cute with their quests trying to avoid this but at least they broke up the kill X quests a lot more.
It really comes down to whether you like the rifts or not though since they give you an added method to level by. I personally didn't care for them very much so it wasn't for me, someone who likes them will probably like the game a lot more.
i'm having a fun time leveling at the moment. There seems enough to do to get me to the levels I need. There are enough choices where I don't get bored. If I go rifting too much, then I questing. If I get bored of questing then I go Rifting. If I don't like any of that then I go PvPing. I can look for artifacts, I can do so much with crafting. I can do a lot with the AH and do even more with the Instances. I'm having a good time leveling..
I think it's not boring the first time through....
However, if you level by doing all the quests then yeah it's probably not as fun to do it the 2nd,3rd,4th etc time.
I personally pvp a lot to level (which is slow lol).
PS- i don't know if multiple pve leveling areas would be good because of the rift dynamic.
Probably best to get one character to max level and focus on it for a few months before re-rolling, always better to repeat stuff when the quests are not so fresh in your mind. Maybe they should have had more starting zones based on race though.
The game has a lot of options to level: dungeons, quests, warfronts, and rifts and it kept me busy while I leveled my main (warrior) to 50 but when I leveled my alt rogue to 50 it was kinda boring since I did it all before but still not bad. I really like the zones and monster variety.
Rift has boring leveling because they only have 1 starter zone, 2 if you want to play the other faction.
So you level up a melee cleric and you do all the quests in the starter zone. You see a bard and that looks fun so you do the starter quests again. Then you hear warriors are good so you start a warrior and do the quests for a third time.
And they are not WoW quality quests for the most part. They are very simple.
And they are not WoW quality quests for the most part. They are very simple.
and what is the diference? I notice its the same thing, take quest, don't need to read, go to where its marked, kill/collect/activate thing go back deliver gain xp/money.
You cannot get bored leveling at RIFT since you can level in so many ways....
You have tons of quests ....if you get bored of questing... you can just jump in some Rift action... or just look for some Invasions in Telera....they are very very fun to play and they have different objectives everytime... nice exp and rewards too^^
If you want to level another way you can do so by PvP, Dungeons.... or even Crafting !!!
So if you get bored in Rift by leveling...it´s because you are just sticking to one of the multiples options you have to do so
The perfect for me is just do them all...so i never get bored of anything^^

It's very different, especially with the revamped zones the new quests got very creative.

Some of the new quests got very creative, many where just as they were. I did enjoy the revamp of stranglethorn vale especially the pirate areas, but then you went to outlands and it was all pretty much BAU until the Cata content.
Rift quests for the most part are exactly where WOW's were until their latest expansions. (other than they are very tightly concentrated so that you don't run around very much, something I actually miss from the old WOW days)

I'am having a fun time lvling up my char.. The quests arnt the best written ones out there but i use The Black Gardens + Rifts to break up the questing every now and then.. Keeps things fresh.. Plus i love hunting artifacts.
Then again i'am playing this game pretty casually compared to the last few MMO's ive played.. I played AION for about 8-12hrs straight each day for several months, was in a rush to be the first 50 on my server.. But with Rift i'am putting about 1-2hrs each game session maybe playing 4-5 hrs max each day.. EvE has taught me to play in shorter play sessions from time to time.
Currently Playing: Rift + Starcraft II + Gears Of War 3 Beta
I just wish there was more zones to level in... I'm level 36 on my Rogue, and have been working on a warrior and cleric also.. I'm already sick of the zones cause it's just the same thing over again I can't go elsewhere for a level range it's just one straight train...
This is also a concern of mine, a small one at that but still a concern. You know there will belts starting zones.

Several reasons why there is a huge difference.
- Variety through underwater worlds, flying worlds, changing worlds by doing quests.
- Rift's world is around 1/3 of the Eastern Kingdoms. Add Kalimdor and the basic Wow already had 6 X the world space of Rift at launch.
- Add Outland, Northrend and the 5 new end zones and yet another 8 starter zones and you come around 12 X more space and different lands/oceans/continents to level through. Add the 100+ renewed leveling dungeons for the old guard and and you get the picture.
The fact you add more content is one thing : the sheer amount of content from 1-60 makes it possible to level 6 to 8 times without ever going to the same zones., but the different choices in quest mechanics makes questing also more varied.
Rift uses standard 7 year old quest mechanics. Everyone experiencing tbc-wrath-cata quests will immediately see the difference
Also : the fact Blizzard introduced stories in the new quests makes people read quests again the first time they do them, for the rest you join leveling dungeons when you are bored doing repetitive quests. And even in leveling through PvP there is more variation because of more BG's for each 5 level bracket. You pay to get less, but you think it is new until everyone is played through.
There is one underwater zones, not a world. There are no flying worlds; you can now fly across the same map that has been walked across for 7 years. I'll presume that when you say changing worlds, you are talking about phasing which discconects you from a large percentage of the player base.
Rift's world is 1.5x the Eastern Kingdom. This makes WOW's entire world twice the size of Rfit's (with a 7 year headstart onadding content). When you add Northrend and Outlands Wow becomes three tiems the size of Rift's world . . . not 12x. You cannot travel through any ocean, fatigue sets in rather quickly if try to travel across the ocean. Sure, you can travel in one underwater zone. There are not 8 new starter zones, and how you could say that with as players as WoW has surprises me. As for "renewed" leveling instances, again presuming what you mean by "renewed" any instance prior to Cata, there are not 100+. Nothing in Northrend or Outlands was "renewed". This also holds true for almost every instacne in Azeroth. Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep were reborn with heroic versions added. RFC, for example, has not been "revewed".
Anyone and everyone knows that you cannot level 6 toons to cap or even to 60 without traveling to many zones that were previously visited. You may be able to level two toons without questing in a zone visited before, but thats's the limit of how many toons can level without touching a zone that has been eneter by your first toon.
Rift uses the same quest mechanics as Wow, EXCEPT for the public questing that Rift has that Wow does not. Public questing is not new as WAR had it before Rift, for example, although Rift's version is updated and more dynamic.
I played Cata for about a month when it came out, and speaking for myself, I quested like I always did, which was not reading anymore of the quest that was necessary to find out what was required; what 10 rats I was killing and where I could find them. I imagine that you will find that many, many players do the very same thing.
It doesn't help your arguement by stating your opinion is fact, it only weakens it. Besides your rampant "Stretching" of the truth, as pointed out, is rather hilarious.
Im reading many different forums and people are whining about boring leveling and saying that in WoW is so fun to lvl chars... Am i abnormal becouse i think that in Rift is nice to lvl chars?

I have a ton of fun leveling in WoW. I actually want to read the quest text, and it isn't the same old gibberish I've been finding in RIFT. I simply do not care about the story in RIFT, its not as immersive to me, and the quests are BORING as all holy hell.
There is no discussion. In another thread, it was shown that the complete world of Rift fits into 1/3 of Kalimdor (or Eastern Kingdoms for that matter).
Here is the "scale" to compare just one basic WOW continent with the complete world of Rift. This means the basic WOW alone was 6x the complete world of Rift. Add all the expansions and many more dungeons and BG's and you end up paying for 12 times less content.
For the rest you're nitpicking on words. Of course you can level 6 by leveling 6 different zones in WOW from 1 - 60. You not only have 2 continents for those 60 levels you also have around 2 to 3 choices in which to level per continent.
Everyone can see for themselves : By sheer volume and variety, there is hardly an argument.
Even in WoW there is still lot of empty zones (3/4ths of sithilus is a place holder) so your size comparison isn't valid unlike in Telera the whole map is used effectively. Heck by your logic WAR must be resounding sucess and has ton of content because it zones are about the size of vanilla WoW.
The point taken from WAR should be it is not how big the zone is how effectively you use it and having too many zones can dilute the player base especially when you have public quests/rifts etc (In cata they have redone the quests and grouped them so that players no longer even access half of Eastern kingdoms).

That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Have you not heard of exploration before? Having big zones with spots not occupied by quest mobs/hubs is perfect for that. As soon as exploration is completely removed by "utilizing every spot in a zone" the game simply becomes a directed grind (moreso than it already would be).

Hi! I'm new here, wanted to toss my two cents in.
I started playing Rift during headstart.
Only recently did i hit 50 with my Defiant Rogue.
I found the leveling experience to be quite fun.
Surprisingly after 29 the zones opened up and had a much better time.
I enjoyed all the later level zones much more.
Scarwood, Moonshade, Ironpine Peak, Droughtlands, Shimmersands and Stillmoor are massive and quite fabulos.
The questing is well done and there's quite a few group quests to wade through.
The Zone invasions were always very crazy and i kinda became addicted to soloing minor rifts.
Even min maxxed a spec just for that.
My last 3 levels were gained in shimmer running Rift farms with 19 other folks.
It was like this perfect blend of old and new. solo questing, group focused content and team hunts.
Just great overall, I have no complaints.
Currently enjoying Rift while waiting on Guild Wars 2.
