Rift =WAR ?
hey so i was bored and i decided to play the f2p accout on WAR ..i hate to say it but im likeing it..i really dont dig theampark mmo's but im really likeing it...a friend told me i should start playing rift i was like..na not that much into it..one day i was over at his house and he was playing..i was like omg..this is WAR ..i mean everything grafix and includeing rifts ..altho rifts are a lil diff than the things in WAR that everyone can do and has stages to em in...sry my mind is on the fritz lol cant rember what they were called..but you get my point ..everything is basicly the same...so why do i see on soo many posts here that rift is soo new / fresh ..its alot of more of tha same imo ...another thing..i now see why alot of the daoc fanboies hate this game ..its nothing like daoc..but thats no reason to knock it soo bad ..its a decent lil game...but imo i think the whole game itself should be f2p and the same for rift..seeing its a carbon copy of WAR with WOW interface >IMO< i also think that most of the people that are defending Rift like its the next best thing sence sliced bread are also the same people that had never played WAR ..so many of them are quick to bash..altho i only played rift for about a day..i know its something that ill never play or even pay for ..its just not my cup of tea ..like people like eating broccli ..alot of people love it but i just know i dont like it..iv tryed it and hated it..so dont say its what i want lol ..but imho rift is alot more like WAR and only has the interface of wow

i believe this topic occupies 75% of this forums.....
It is similar to WAR. It isn't exactly the same though. It has new fresh ideas in it, and the graphics are a lot better IMO than WAR.
In that term everything should be F2P cause all boils down to UO , Runescape , EQ , etc etc ...
Just with more modern graphics , Its ok to say a game look similair , the problem is that some little things , make a game totally new for other people .
Sadly played too much city of heroes , so features like
Awesome Character customisation (one of the best in game , still think it more Userfriendly then CO)
cross over faction (implemented already)
Player created content (founderies in STO ) was also already there .
Bases you can create as a guild or as solo player . (I am talking about bases not just a house)
Dynamic Events
Everything people are calling innovative , are done in city of heroes , just it´s such small player base .
And was hard for people to play cause of repetivenes (but still beats doing dailies !!! and daily dungeon)
That it didn´t really catch on ..
So if I look at every new game with comparison in mind , I would find them all FAIL GAMES .
So be glad some of us understand that something new isn´t always new , but to most it is .
i played war to lvl 40 rr 42 . It is not the same as rift which I have played to lvl 45.
-There is no Realm Ranks to add new skills.
-I cant change my role in war at the drop of a hat.
-The "public quest" were smaller in size compared to a rift invasion.
-There is no seige or keeps to capture and make your own and protect.
-there is not guild vault
what they did take from WAR which is always good to take good things is
-there are a ton of deeds to unlock and discover
-the ease of finding quest locations with huge yellow blotches
-the leveling in Battle Grounds <some say you could do this in DAOC, "BUT" not all battle grounds seemed to be used after a while soooo you couldnt get from lvl 1-50 doing strictly BGs)
-the ease of grind through quest.
I might of missed some in both categories but you get my point. Rift is not WAR
