I play some pvp with a Riftblade, I'm going to hate the Flamespear nerf(there goes my kitting warrior) but I thing is a fair nerf. My warrior could kill pretty much almost every class with no problem and I could even Kitte other warriors with no probem.  CD and the damage boost to damage makes it a fair abilityl.

I will have to change my playing style but I can't cry about an unfair ability.

Yea not gonna bother me at all tbh.I could tell it was stupid op from time I used it so I never abused so I won't care if they nerf it into the dirt.

    [Mod Edit]

Every good game is going to change things such as nerfs to classes. If you have a problem with it send it to Trion. From my perspective ATLEAST they actually take into consideration the things that the playerbase is saying. But really complaining that you no longer can OMGPWN now should actually be a great feat for you to min/max that much harder so you can prove people wrong. (What's that you say?I can't PVP with an Arms Warrior in WoTLK? Oh really, because I just took first place at MLG - Dallas and won... oh IDK like $5,000 to myself for being an Arms Warrior) ... No I am not saying I actually did this, this was my example!

This is awsome.. I was on the fence with Rift too, i even canceled my pre order and writ the game off completley.. But a lot of my friends told me it had improved since beta.. When i finnaly caved down and bought the copy from Game Spot i been thrilled since.. Honestly, i havn't been able to feel at "home" in a MMO since AION or when i first started playing EvE.. I look forward to logging in each time and the world feels so fresh and is fun to explore.. The rifts are also good to use to break up questing/warfronts.. I'am glad Trion has taken such an aggressive stance on combating bugs and now even adding more content, only a month after its initial release..

Go trion! This is a good thing on their part because in my eyes it proves Trion is actually useing our box money to make new content and not just pocket it.. Looks like they are in this for the long haul, and i like that.

Dude they're called MMO for a reason, and that reason is that lots of people play together. If you want to solo, get some never-ending single player RPG like Witcher and have at it.

So, essentially, you despise all game developers everywhere? I understand your frustration, but separating the scaling would be a nightmare to program and set up. There's only so much server power to go around, and setting up nothing but instanced PvP so clean rules changes can be implemented sucks for PvP in general. Big battles at public targets are what a lot of PvPers, myself included, want.

    Wow.  People still think this?

Rift is the best MMO for soloers that I've ever played.  And by that, I don't mean like in WoW, how you run around doing everything by yourself all the time, hardly ever seeing anyone until you need to go to the capital for some reason.  I mean, public grouping works so well that it cuts out all the hassles of grouping that make me want to solo all the time. Might not be for all soloers, but for me, it's like the benefits of grouping, while being so freeform and transient that it's just as good as soloing.

At the same time, they have instance dungeons which are unsoloable, and require groups in the more traditional sense.  I'm enough of a soloer that I've yet to do any of those, as they're pretty much unnecessary.  Do feel I'm missing out a little, but eh, I understand its probably a good idea to have some real group and raid content.  I just hope they keep the most important stuff open, and that includes the upcoming event.  I haven't see anything to indicate that won't be the case.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

Aggressive content update, nice to see this early.  I just hope that is really is content, not just aggressive balancing issues. (while i like balance, those should be more under the radar fixes and not advertised as major updates).

As for Endo13...that starburst effect you got from nesting a crap-ton of replies really hurts the eyes :)

All i see here is people complaining about the nerfs...how about you first see how the game changes with the nerf and then send constructive feedback to Trion..Because really, all a nerf really does is makes us ajust how we play the game in hopes of making the play experience better, If the devs see that things arent working how they want, good chances are they will be making more changes. Some nerfs will be good for the game and some wont...but we dont know until we actually experience it

I don't mind the balancing.  Should have happened in the endless array of betas we had but oh well.  As a rogue main class - I'm starting to run out of options.  I really hope there's one slot for us - maybe 1 melee dps and 1 ranged - bard really is looking useless atm.

    Great patch!!

Warriors obviously needed some balance....they are in GOD mode atm.

Mages needed update too and tehy are finally getting it, cheers!

I´m loving the game and how Trion is working on it. :)

I mean yeah, there are times when something gets nerferd really bad but I honestly dont see the complaining. IF you really get this worked up about a number ratio for your imaginary elf in a completely made up fantasy world, then your in trouble. But maybe thats just me.

The diversity you speak of is exactly what they are taking away.

Bards? Sorry you heal too much... nerf

I have played through the other patches and "adjustments" so your point is moot.

This patch changes the whole reason why I started playing Rift in the first place - diveristy of souls. Being able to mix and match and play the type of character I want.

Now Rift is going back to traditional "class roles"

Heh maybe it's for you, but it's not the game I want and subscribed to.

I dont think is going back to traditional roles....but FFs warriors were in God Mode... they could be the BEST at melee and yet do even better than most mage´s souls at ranged...all that wearing plate armor....

Something was not right there..... Glad they fixed it.

    3. Some classes were literally too strong. If you're doing 30% more damage than everyone else then there's a problem.

    4. Grow up... You're crying about changes that haven't even been implemented yet.

    ok.

first ,if there was some classes doing 30% more damage or whatever, you think it was an accident?

heres lesson for you,it goes like this.

these nerfs are planned, people whines at forums that theres some class doing this and some that(keeps forums alive),people at trion knows that, its no rocket science, then they fnerf  some and buff another(makes them look like professionals)  and you feel like they listened you,you feel like you are unique person, you feel like you are part of something bigger, but the fact is,it was all planned.

they need to make unbalance so they can bring balance™

wow has been doing this umm 6 years?

Yeah can I get a copy of the rulebook. You know where Sandbox = Hardcore Open PvP and MMO = Grouping all the time. I know its out there!

But really this looks interesting and I like the idea of the public groups working. My only worry is if the community is well WoW like. If they keep pushing in content I will definatly try this game. I also had a problem in beta where the FMV would have all black lines over it. Kinda hope its fixed because it took away the atmos a little.

Aggressive patching of content means that the game producers are worried about a paucity of things to do at level cap. I think Trion's strategy Is all wrong myself...rifts lose their novelty fast and a dungeon raid is just a dungeon raid and the business suits that run Blizzard are past masters at this type of game. Aggressively marketing at the WoW crowd with slogans such as we aren't in Azeroth anymore seems fails to me...it just suggests WoW clone.

This shows- yet again- you have to make different rulesets and skill-mechanics for PvE and PvP . For years the folks at Arenanet made adjustments across the board ( both applicable to PvE and PvP ) in Guild Wars until- quite recently - they "saw the light "and realized that simply isn't viable . If you're going to patch the classes' skills you should do so seperately for PvP and PvE .

Across the board changes have never worked in any MMO .

River does look like fun, I look forward to seeing it.  As for the various classes being hit by the nerf hammer, given all of the hysterics on the forums about OP this and OP that... Its likely only the first of many, MANY nerfs to come.  Once Dev's cave in to the hysterics in the PvP brigade, its a never ending cycle of nerf and buff.

Trying to "balance" the soul system is going to be a nightmare.  At the end, no doubt all must be equally bland, or some ganker/griefer will be howling like a banshee on the forums.  Whats even more pathetic, is that Rift is MUCH more of a PvE game.  PvP should have been left out, or kept totally separate.  That way PvP could be "balanced" endlessly, without hammering the hell out of the fun of the PvE game.

Oh you people. Let the others who enjoy the game enjoy the game. And for you people who care about your e-peens so much  whining about nerfs, go ahead and leave if you want. You won't be missed. It's common for people like you to come back once their favorite class is the strongest again.

    Fuck balance.

Some classes/builds are simply going to be more powerful than others.  Seperating PvP and PvE is simply ridiculous.  If you're going to focus on pvp, find a build that suits your playstyle, and have at it.  If you're going to focus on pve, you can do the same.

  • LeviathonlxLeviathonlx Member Posts: 135

Not sure how anyone could be surprised Rift isn't balanced. I could of told you a year ago that it would be impossible to balance 30 'classes' unless they greatly homogenize their game (something which people constantly get on Blizzard for).
