Frienship in onlinegames

Hi!

Me and my friend are writing a bachelorthesis about how friendship in onlinegaming differs from traditional face-to-face friendship.

We would appriciate if as many as possible could fill out our survey.

The Survey is anonymus and takes about 10 minutes.

Thank You

during my early days in the trucking business, i was still playing WoW on a regular basis. upon transferring to another pvp server from tichondrius, i started chatting it up with some female avatar who turned out being a woman in the real world. i eventually joined the guild she was apart of, got to know some of the people, and eventually would tell them where i was headed if they lived in or near the destination. i got to meet some of the guildies and still talk to them. eventually the lady and i crossed paths and we still talk to this day. i see her whenever i get the chance. she's a rad woman who has her shit together in life!

neither of us play WoW anymore. we've moved on to other things.

online game friends tend to be somewhat transculent. Now, the last guild I had in WoW, we did meet up a few times but I cannot go into details with that. This is a "PG-13" website ;)

But for the most part, online gaming friends tend to follow the pattern that there is an intense closeness to each other, but the closeness is as strong as your involvement in that game.

Out of the many many people I became "friends" with online, only a few of us are acquintances. I tend to fall into the category that online gaming friends are nowhere near as "thick" as real face to face freindships.....and this could be a problem today.

You can tend to tell which people only have friends in a gaming world versus friendships in real life. And that is pretty sad.

Real life friends that you can share pizza, movies, beer, and a bed with is a lot more meaningful (to me) than a pixelated friend that you develop only for that person to disappear when he or she unsubscribes.

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

Well, i don't jsut trust anyone online. But what we did is we met all the members of the guild in real life so we can meet and greet them personally and after 5 years until now they where still my friends... :D

Friendship in onlinegames is kind different than face to face thing.First you doubt on that person but after that in a long time bonding in onlinegame make you comfortable to each other. So that you can call him/her as a friend.

This girl that I played PKed with everyday for a couple years I miss a lot! I never even knew her but I would absolutely love to game with her again. I feel the same about a couple other guys that clicked with. Its been years but I wonder every once in awhile what they are up to.

One of my friends in game really wanna meet me in real life. but i dont believe we can meet. cuz we're in different countries. Who will take a plane and fly to another country to meet a online friend?

My relationship with friends in MMOs is strictly mutual. I will talk some about my personal life, but I will never go out of my way to actually meet someone. They're still strangers to me regardless if they know somethings about me and where I live etc.
