So say something nice and it will stay say something bad about the game and it goes.
Comments
The key word there was "constructive." There is a fairly thick line between constructive critcism and trolling, one that people seem to have a hard time observing.
I have seen many a person being constructive about criticism and be labeled a troll simply because they are talking bad about the game.
I think for context you need to see what he was responding to. A Moderator there had deleted a message from a player (Cyde) but also responded publicly to the message he deleted.

To Cyde - if you think a thief can't rob your house, leave your door open and send him an invite, when you will be gone for a night. Real mature approach.
Keep this thread on rails, instead of filling it with pointless negativity.
Now should the post from Cyde have been deleted? No idea as I didn't see it. But what should NEVER happen is for a moderator to delete a post and then publicly call out that person. That's not being a moderator, that's being a fan and abusing your mod powers to get the last word in a public forum.

@ Slapshot: from Ar'khazad's comments it seems like it was pretty far off topic (what do thieves have to do with the OP?) That being said, yas it would have been more appropriate to PM that response rather than "calling out" Cyde for being off topic.
@lazerus: Any reason you didn't just post it as a link? I'm lazy and would rather click on a link than cut and paste.

A pro SV post on the forums and the CEO just happens to see it 6 minutes later, followed by other employees in short order?
Nice to see how they spend their time there, or did they know that post was coming?
they got so many trolls in there so they are oversensitive on this

Ha ha, my post in this thread got deleted (I just said that the game lacks sandbox features and that it's pathetic that 15 hours of server uptime is regarded as amazing):
http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/59532-state-game.html
Seems they only want "constructive" posts, i.e. fanboys getting new people to buy the game despite its enormous problems.
Come on now... They have a bunch of free trials they need to sucker into buying a box and a sub. What do you expect them to do. Actually admit the game is in between an alpha beta state or let players talk about it??
As far as I've seen the constructive posts get buried in some un-used forum section like "Suggestions". Just check that portion of forums and you can see a graveyard of brilliant suggestions and/or thoughts. Of course, it requires some special effort to comment on some bad parts of the game and not get deleted, but there's a few of those threads still there.
Here's a good example of the "bury while it's alive process", that SV has:
http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/58980-one-last-bang-before-i-go.html
That thread gained so many /agrees and /signs that it just couldn't be outright deleted, it was instead moved to a forum that no one who plays a trial could bother to read.
Fortunately SV shot themselves in the foot releasing a free trial like they did, so it's all good (not for SV, though).
[Mod Edit]
Not surprised at all.
Still, it looks so silly with all these "the game is so great and soon the devs will fix everything that's broken" comments when everyone knows it lacks any real sandbox features (which the op was asking for) and that it still has severe technical issues, eight months post launch.
I understand they want to remove obvious troll posts, or upright slandering. But I was only giving honest answers: I used to play MO extensively for a long time and think I have a fair picture of the game. It claims to be a sandbox but remains a buggy PvP arena deathmatch. That's not a very controversial opinion - actually, I think most people who have played it would agree to some extent.
The boards mods are nazis the IRC mods are nazis end of story. Probably because the only money they ever made off of the game was stock based. So they want to be able ot lie to their investors by shutting you up.

Oh I agree 100%. I just think that by now they would have learned that their current method is not only not working, but is actually driving more people away from the game. Anyhow, here is another one: http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/60396-hope-lost-no-point-returning.html

Another perspective would be, that some people are actively trying to 'drive people away' from MO, so who can expect SV to let it happen in their own house?
Seriously, you can't expect to parade up and down the aisles of Wal-Mart with a sign saying "wal-mart sucks, and they do evil things" and expect to not be kicked out. Some people are way too naive, thinking they have freedom of speech on some company's forum, or that freedom of speech even makes sense in that context.
I know you'll deny it up and down, but if you were ever in their position, you would do the exact same thing if someone were insulting your baby, which was also how you make your living, on your own forum... Hell, SV allows a lot of negatives on their forum, so we gotta wonder the differences between all the negatives that stay on, (need proof? surf the forum) and the negatives that get moderated.
Are you suggesting that Airfell From Forsaken (as per the link) was someone "actively trying to drive people away from MO"? Or Myke or any of the other diehard folks that had the same thing happen? See, that is EXACTLY the problem. They immediately lump these people who are DIEHARD FANS WITH LEGITIMATE GRIPES with people trolling the game.
This is EXACTLY why I said they are doing more harm than good with their policies and one must simply look at the population and retention percentage to realize that.
Again.. I 100% agree and have ALWAYS said that it's their playground and thus they can make the rules there. One would simply think that they would have realized by this time that their policy is causing more harm then good. There is a word for doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results...

Deja Vu
... I wasn't talking about airfell... Now, if you're complaint is that volunteer moderators sometimes make mistakes, well then... I dunno what to tell ya.
I do. Hire professionals and don't base 98% of your customer-support on volunteers. 2% being Discord who's paid for server-restarts.
Wow, that was easy. All they have to do is throw tens of thousands of dollars at the situation.
I wasn't trying to drive people away, nor are many of the old MO forum members when we gripe... the sad fact is, you can send all the pm's you want to SV staff, all the emails you'd like to the GM's, ect... but in the end, they only listen when you go public with something.
I didn't handle the situation randomly, nor namelessly as some others have handled other blatent problems with the game, but after a few PM's with Henrik, I was satisfied enough to lay off. Honestly, I haven't been to the MO forums since though.
I love the game's idea to death personally, and would reccomend anyone to try the game... its just that there is a point where you get so deep into it, and you see some of the under the table things that go on... you just have to let go.
At this point I'm personally just waiting for things to get better from the sidlines, but do intend on returning.

I was just reading that a few minutes ago too. Those forums make me sad, they are a rainy cloud day after day. Like Seattle but on the interwebs.
Wow, nice to see things haven't changed at all since release with moderation. This is pretty eloquent of the situation at SV and the current state of the game.
