Ok, i've heard those clips with bits of SWToR that theinvader linked and compared them with this . I mean, you need to be a HUGE SWToR fanboy or a very boring person to say that it's OST sounds better than the one in GW2. What's the most ridiculous is the argument that SWToR soundtrack is better cause John Williams made the OST for the movies. I mean, seriously guys :P. And don't try to relativize this with "tastes are different" carp. If that was the case it wouldn't matter who is composing the music.
Ah there we go, knew someone could claim one side is right and the other is wrong on the first page.
Except this isn't the first page any more!
@Verterdegete: We've heard very little of either soundtrack. Remember that the music you linked to is trailer music, which is always significantly different to in-game music, because having music that epic playing all the time you're playing the game would get intrusive and annoying. The music we heard in the SW:TOR videos I linked sounded more like in-game music than cinematic music. Remember, context is everything when it comes to sountracks!
Both of these games have really epic music styles and i love them both, but for me i'd have to go with GW2 merely because of the fact i love celtic type music
Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.
Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

Actually , the main theme starts at 4:00 and ends at 6:30, and that is a 10 minute clip.

Nothing I've heard of the GW2 soundtrack has sounded particularly Celtic to me. And trust me, I know Celtic music - I'm an accordionist and I play and listen to loads of Celtic music (not to mention I'm Welsh!). I do hope I'm wrong though; could you link me to an example?

My point stands. It's not in game music (music you hear whilst playing. Title themes don't count.)

Okay maybe i'm mistaken on the celtic but whatever this is, i like it:

Obviously I don't know that as a fact, but it doesn't sound like it. It's also music we've heard before in trailers and trailer music is rarely used as in-game music. If it does play in game I hope it doesn't loop because that would get old very fast. in-game music tends to be a little less intrusive because you have to listen to it over a long period of time and are likely going to hear the same track many times.

I loved the GW music, there are some GW tribute videos that give a great impression of how magnificent the music in GW can be. From what I heard so far from GW2, I like it very much too.
SWTOR music will have history besides being great music: SWTOR will have besides new musical themes all the music from all the Star Wars movies too of which many have an epic cinematic quality, plus that of the KOTOR games too, which was composed by Jeremy Soule, the same person who composed the music for GW and GW2.
So you can't judge the SWTOR music fairly without leaving the Star Wars music out of it: track collections like these will be an integral part of it.
In the end, I like the music in both MMORPG's, although the Star Wars music will have a far deeper nostalgic value.
When it comes to music purely made for MMORPG, I still find the AoC Cimmerian musical themes my favorite.
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums: Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."
At the risk of going off topic, Aoc has the best mmo soundtrack bar none.
Yep, musical themes like this and this one and others managed to capture perfectly the Cimmerian atmosphere of Conan's Cimmeria. If the whole game would have captured the atmosphere and world of Hyborea of the Conan novels, then the game would have been a killer MMO for years, alas, they only came halfway.

Yeah, heard a few more GW2 pieces thanks to some links.
Still going with TOR!
I would have to say that I like the Charr theme from GW2 the best.

Starting at around 2:10 and ending around 4:05 in this video.

How did you compare the OSTs ? I'm interested in sources where you heard SWToR music.
Yeah that's not particularly Celtic. I'm not too find of that track, I found it to be fairly boring (it's all about context though).
LOTRO had a very Celtic soundtrack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCkbIIa_VpM

sounds like Fable
Here is some GW2 in game music, I particularly only remember that video for music out of all the GW2 videos out there, it's very good imo.

NB: found this one while searching on youtube, SWTOR's 'This Is War' theme, combination was epic

Sorry, can't help you out with sources.
This Guild Wars 2 concept art video has some good music too.

Might as well admire the concept art while you're at it
